Is it worth the price? I've heard a lot about them, but they seem very pricy...
Well, I don't have one myself, but they don't really seem more expensive than an AV Famicom or an AV-modded classic Famicom plus a Disk System. Unlike with the AV Famicom you do get the microphone on controller II.
On the other hand, the controllers are not interchangeable with normal Famicom controllers. The controllers possibly use the same parts on the inside, I don't know, but the connector is different.
Sound seems a bit muffled compared to other Famicoms due to the different main board layout. I've only heard the difference in videos though, and it's a matter of taste which sounds better.
There is also the AN-505 models with a power LED and turbo switches, and they are quite expensive.
If you don't have a Famicom at all, I recommend getting a good AV-modded red & white Famicom and a serviced Disk System with a new belt (or at least the RAM Adapter and an FDSStick). That's what I use.
A lot of people are recommending the AV Famicom, but it's expensive so it's mainly if you really want the NES-style controller ports and can live without the microphone.

I have a Twin Famicom (and have owned several over the years) but I agree with this advice. The Twin Famicoms are really neat to look at and display, but if your goal is to just have a Famicom/Disk system that you can actually use then an AV Famicom (or modded red/white one) along with an FDS with a new belt is the best way.
Personally I prefer using the AV Famicom rather than a modded red/white one (I have both) just because the controllers on the AV one have more range (it was not a smart idea to have the controller wires plug into the back of the original red/white Famicom), but otherwise they are about the same (and the microphone on the Red/white one is an obvious advantage if you are going to play games that use it).
A fully functional Twin Famicom is my favorite console out of everything I own. I expect to give the same advice to first time NES owners, if you're not able to do moderate fixes and maintenance then this might not be a good purchase for casuals.
Thanks for the advice, I'm ultimately getting an AV mod of an original red/white. I'm also looking into replacing the controllers myself for it (they're very scuffed up), but I'll worry about it later, I'm just excited to finally have a famicom! ;D
So you got a Twin? Congratulations! :D
Now you just need some games and maybe an Everdrive and FDSStick.
