Post something we all don't know about you.
The thing about sites like this is you typically don't hear about anything more than video gaming and entertainment (TV, music, etc.). What is something you do we don't know about...or maybe post a pet peeve.
I'll do both...I head a local community group in my town that is consuming way too much of my time nowadays (hence, the infrequent updates), and I hate hate hate talking about, thinking about, and seeing anything wet or moist that comes out of the human body (blood, urine, mucous, etc.). :-X I have lots of pet peeves...I could have a whole thread devoted to them.
I was born with only 10% vision. To this day, I am still 90% blind. The exact value is 20/200.
At 20 feet, I can see what you can see at about 200 feet.
This is caused by two things. On my dads side, they have poor vision (near sightedness) and on my Mom's side, there is a gene that only affects the males in the family (females are carriers) that causes my eyes to twitch constantly. This is called nestagmus.
Wow, I've never met somebody with legal blindness :o.
I'm pretty nearsighted too, I don't remember the exact value but my right eye is considerably worse than my left one. I was born with myopia and astigmatism and wear glasses since I was like 7 years old (19 now). I think that determined a lot about my personality and interests. For example, I suck at sports (my depth perception sucks) and on the other hand love computers, video games and electronics ;D
I hate sports so much, which sucks because my girlfriend and her family are right into them. Glasses don't work for me as the major problem is that my eyes twitch, which prevents them from focusing.
I played soccer for 18 years.
I can eat pizza every day for the rest of my life.
I have over 15 pairs of brand new sneakers in the box because I don't want to ruin them.
An animated billboard I designed is currently running in Times Square.
I'm a 7 year migraine sufferer.
I used to believe in an afterlife but in the last few years I'm leaning more toward the nothingness once you die.
I was born on Easter and my initials (in real life) are "JC"... and yes, I'm Jewish.
Not that I have a Gawd complex or anything ;D ;D ;D
I got married in a kilt (my mother's side is Scottish).
My first on-line experience was in 1991 with my Commodore 64 and my 2600 baud modem (which was big news back then). BBS-ing was the thing then, baby! (gawd, I'm old).
My first Famicom cart was in 1989 when I ordered one from FUNCO along with a honeybee adapter. I got 12 carts for (if I remember correctly) about $40 with shipping. I got hooked.
I collect Mahjong video games for almost any system.
I also collect Geisha dolls.
Halloween is my favorite holiday.
This Halloween I went as Mario.

HEH, HEH, HEH... I gotta WIN!
I suffered from deep depression for the past 6 years that it almost cost me my life. Sadly, the friend that saved me ended his life about a year ago. I am majoring in Computer Information Systems even though my counselor said I would do better in becoming a writer(I don't like to listen). I started playing video games since I was like 4 back when I got the NES with the 3 in 1 cartridge, zapper, and power pad. Video games have been my anti-depressant and work great when I'm feeling down (even better than drugs!). I miss my home country(Peru) but I have finally decided to finish college here and save up money to open a business in Peru. About my childhood.....well lets just say I'll need a lot more time to type everything that happened then...lol umm Famicom is connected to me because I used to play it a lot when I was young and it was one of the few happy memories I had when I was young that's why I have been searching for Super Mario Bros 8 for so long because it is one of the few games I remember playing and feeling happy back in the days. TMNT 2 pirate cart was another one but I found that one on Ebay. Thank you Ebay!!
That's
amazing and I am glad you're still here. My wife and I both have depression (I'm taking Wellbutrin for it) but not as bad as you have it, it seems.
I am glad that you can find happiness in video games and wish nothing but the best for you, my friend. :)

I also suffered from severe depression since we're all being open about it. It also almost cost me my life. People can be so cruel to you about things you can't change about yourself. (growing up in poverty, blindness, etc)
When i was about 16,17 i was very depressed. I listened very much depressive music and i was stoned the whole day. That realy sucks, haha.
But now i am a happy dude that would become a school teacher. :D
This thread is uplifting. :)
Well, deep topic.
Let's star, I'm boss in the graphic design website part in a newspaper, and I'm a grumpy person. I hate when people doesn't do their job, and spent a lot of time in an easy task. I'm not an easy boss.
I spent 5 years of my life with a person who cheat on me, we was living together, so after that I leave my home and all my stuff and back to my parents house, I leave her all the stuff, bed, tv, everything, including tons of videogame stuff. I didn't see her anymore. Now Im pretty happy with a new person and I'm triyng to recover all my stuff again, in almost a year I recover tons of stuff I'm pretty happy for it.
In the past I wrote a computer emulator called Antarctic Nes, It only supports a few mappers and stuff and I do several hacks on nes games and I translate a lot of technical documents about NES to spanish and I was in a small project to do a Spanish Nesdev,
Well, that's a good stat.
Greetings.
I also suffer from depression (MDD to be specific, wiki it). I currently take Cymbalta to help with the really bad days, but overall the meds really help.
And here's a pic of the billboard, its for a jewelry company called "SILPADA", its animated but here's one frame live from times square:
Haha...neat! That's quite the influence there -- if half a million people see it everyday. That jeweler must be paying a fortune to have it placed there.
idk anything nobody aleready knows about me besides that i also have horrible vision its like -6 or somthing in both eyes. and i can skateboard ;D but thats just plain easy to do.
6 is the cut off between legally blind and not. Im at a 2. :]
I have like -3 in one eye and like -1.5 in the other.
Interesting thread idea. :D
Hmm... what can I contribute? ???

That's cool...if you get lucky enough to find a girl you can get along with (continue to love) the first time, why the heck not stick with that girl! As for me, I ain't so lucky...but I think I can be a difficult personality to get along with. :-X How long have the two of you been together?

Yeah I'm going to focus more on myself and my studies than girls because it's been a really bad experience and I think I need time to get over that. It's kinda hard when you know someone likes you though....
Here goes a sad one:
My olfactory nerves were damaged when I was 21,
back in '98.
I was trapped by a bunch of hooligans, and hit in
the head with bats, and then I was thrown from a
moving truck: A week sedated in the hospital...
From that day, my nose is working at 10% of the
former performance.
The ironic side is that the soccer team loved by that
god damned sons of a @#$% had just descended
to the second division here in Brasil, YESTERDAY!
TAKE THAT, SUCKERS!!!
Cheers! ;D
PS> I wish that I could access this forum more often... :'(
JESUS CHRIST! you were beat up by hooligans? for doing what? nothing? Thats insane man, sorry to hear bout that.
For nothing!
Do you know the "Sport Club Corinthians Paulista"?
Their bigger organized hooligan's threat, called
"Gaviões da Fiel" is full of bad boys.
But they're all crying today, because Corinthians
have just felt to the second division of pro soccer
here in Brazil. At the other side, São Paulo Futebol
Clube, my team, is the actual bi-champion!

You don't see men in the US with long hair these days. Long hair for men comes in waves...the last wave ended in the early 90s. Before that it was late 60s. I wonder if it'll happen anytime soon, seems like it's every couple of decades.

It's impossible to have better than perfect vision.
It is possible to have better than 20/20 vision. Some people are born that way.
If you can see farther than someone with 20/20 vision, it means that you have something like 21/20 which is considdered far sighted. You would more than likely not be able to see something close up as well as someone with 20/20 vision. I don't believe you can break the 20/20 ratio with out screwing up somewhere.
Quoting
the almighty Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_acuity#Visual_acuity_expression):
QuoteA visual acuity of 20/20 is frequently described as meaning that a person can see detail from 20 feet away the same as a person with normal eyesight would see from 20 feet. If a person has a visual acuity of 20/40, he is said to see detail from 20 feet away the same as a person with normal eyesight would see it from 40 feet away. It is possible to have vision superior to 20/20: the maximum acuity of the human eye without visual aids (such as binoculars) is generally thought to be around 20/10 (6/3)however, recent test subjects have exceeded 20/8 vision. Some birds, such as hawks, are believed to have an acuity of around 20/2; in this respect, their vision is much better than human eyesight.
I know it sounds strange to believe, and your point is valid. I have a particularly good close up vision due to my nearsightedness (what you lose in far perception you gain it in near perception). But yeah, some people can have 'better than perfect' vision without screwing something else up :P.
Also... Damn birds ¬¬U
Crazy. Boy did I ever get the short end of the stick.
Yeah. I Think my exact number is something like I can see from 20 feet what other people see from 16 feet.
So I think that would then be 20/16
And your vision doesnt blur at all when holding things close to your eyes?
no
Kite, can you see through clothes?
no, I wish though!
Eh. I might as well bump this thread with a bit more info you probably don't know.
I smoke weed casually with friends. My brother does it to and my Mom (I don't live with either) was alright with him doing it, so I guess I just adopted it as a social hobby. I don't rely on it and could stop at any time. I just like the feeling it gives me as most users do, but I don't ever let it get the best of me.

Another thing is that I have pretty much completely given up fast food. I used to eat it about 3 or 4 times a week, and since January 1, 08, I have only had it maybe 3 or 4 times, and I don't feel tempted to haveit at all.

Oh but you must! You can't go into a restaurant around here without finding some type of burger on the menu. Hamburgers are central to American food consumption. There's a place that's got this burger with barbeque sauce and onions...wow, it's amazing. I have about one a week! But, still, I dislike corporate fast food...it's all junk.
Maybe I'll ask somebody to make me a burger without onions... :)

beans on a burger? That's a chilli burger. :P
A chile burger around here is the real deal. Elsewhere you get some weird red sauce with beans and/or groundbeef that people call "chili," but around here, they cut up hot green chile peppers and place them in a burger. Quite good, but it'll burn your ring, if you know what I mean.
There are so many varieties of burgers, it's cool. The weirdest for me is a Hawaiian burger with pineapple. Kinds like pinapple pizza, which is strange, too. I've got nothing against pineapple.

Nice thread. I will throw in a few tidbits..
*I have been legally hearing impaired since I was born, wearing hearing aids all my life, attending public schools and speech therapists until my last four years where they unceremoniously dumped me at a exclusively deaf school. Had to immediately learn sign language as a result

My hair is naturally straight and currently reaches halfway down my back too.
Such is life for a metal head m i rite? lol
Absofuckinglutely :P
Btw what are you into, metal wise? Personally I love old school thrash, death, and black metal. I also have a soft spot for doom, prog, and power metal. I like most of the genre I guess.
Me? I'm into old school heavy, power and death metal. Not so much on thrash or black metal, though some of my friends do.
I don't like how some people are too narrow-minded, and just because they don't listen to <insert subgenre here>, it must suck.
About two weeks ago my glasses snapped in half and I've been without 'em since then. It sucks big time to say the least.
Thought of something new again:
I absolutely hate spiders. They give me the creeps.
The last day I found one again, a pretty big one to make things worse. With an egg-bag! :o
I think I used a whole can of insect spray on that one. :-\ It didn't die, but became much slower, so I could smack it with a shoe.
I would also say I'm afraid of spiders, but only when they're over an inch big. Still I love to take photos of them. Why could that be? ???

Oh wow :o. I would have screamed like a little girl and ran away. There's no way I would have gone back to kill it without some kind of bug spray and a knife.
Thing is I can't go away without killing it, because otherwise I fear it will go hiding somewhere in my house where I can't see it any more. Pure horror! Imagine all those baby spider in that bag grow to be as big as the mother... I'd drop dead...
Maybe I need to open an own thread for arachnophobics like me.
I had a full spider nest in my Jeep. It took me a month to find it and kill all the fuckers.
KILL IT WITH FIRE
It'll smell bad, but it will work
My father used to kill them with fire, but that thing is MASSIVE and might take quite a while to burn.
Anyway I'd probably faint if such a spider appeared in front of me @.@

You should hang out by the dumpster just in case they throw out a prototype wekekkekeke
You should sneak in and see if they have any prototypes
um... "Wekekekeke"
Umm oh yeah I love snakes I don't think I said that before here. I just bought a Ball Python well baby ball python and we watch tv every night when I don't have to work at night that is....I also have a Corn Snake man I need to get some photos of her too.
If there weren't so many regulations I'd send you a Japanese snake by airmail. :P
Or yet better, some spiders to feed to your snakes. 8)

I've looked, the only thing I found was a Neo Geo in like 4 pieces. Not salvagable at all. They won't let me in >:(
LOOK MOAR.
DIG.
Oh, over by the middle school, there are two ponds. They are connected by a cement tube, i dunno how long. between 45 and 90 feet long.
It has bars over each side, but they are very easy to get through.
I started to make a guy "A FIRIN HIS LAZER" and I plan on having the lazer go all the way to the other end. The laser is about 1.5 feet tall and 5 feet long so far.
I'm doing it in crayon so it will be there F'REVER

haha, well a friend of mine is vegetarian too and he doesnt smike. Sometimes he does smoke weed though :P
It's all that damn outsourcing.
Hmm I do have a strange love, like son_ov_hades, except for the Japanese culture. It would be my dream to live in Tokyo and do something dealing with computers. I figured that would be the hot spot for that kind of stuff.
I have the next 8 years of my life planned out.
I'm also afraid of spiders, and a whole bunch of other stuff. When I first saw Alien vs. Pradator I was actually scared. I also never go to bed at 12:00 midnight because of the legend of bloody mary and whatnot. It ususally go to bed at 11:45 of 12:10, nowhere in between.
I live like 30 minutes from son_ov_hades. Speaking of which where is SNK's headquarters so I can raid their facility once I get my license. 8)
I will eat basically anything except bologna.
I run track for my highschool too.
That's basically it. Oh and it's 12:18 so it's all clear for me to go to bed. ;)

Man, how come you can't ever call the GameStop I work at?
I am putting my dog to sleep on Saturday. Brain tumor. 3 seizures a day so far. :'( :'( :'(
jeez.... that sucks big time man...
my condolances :-[
I had a seizure about a month and a half ago and I've been going through MRI scans and other tests to see what's wrong with me.....I should get the results this week.
Hope you get it figured out. I've heard that people can have seizures from aspartame or from pot--since it lowers the seizure threshold.
That's interesting. I do hope it's nothing serious but I've been feeling better nowadays since after the seizure I wasn't able to think straight for like a week!
My room is a mess and smells like cigarrettes.
Weird, because I don't smoke cigarrettes xD
I spilled oregano on my floor xD
I just can't swallow pills (I always chew them). I don't own (and never wear) jeans, shirts (only t-shirts, and always with short sleeves, never with long ones or without them), ties or formal shoes. I NEVER spend money on clothes. I hate zippers and buttons.... no, really!. I don't smoke, do drugs, drink alcohol (except sometimes some bailey's, a really small cup of Late Harvest, or stuff like that) or dance. I hate noisy bars, and I have never, EVER been in a disco. I also wash my hands at least 20 times a day (probably more), almost never go to bed before 1 AM, and when I'm walking in the street with my fianceé I always hold her hand with my left hand (and she knows it). I drink about 2 lts of Coca Cola a day, usually really, really cold (keep it in the freezer until right before it freezes).
If I'm too much into something (be it electronics, gaming, painting or anything else) I'll probably forget about having lunch/dinner.
When I'm building a personal project I usually work on it in the floor instead of a table (the proto gantry of my CNC machine is on the floor right now, including the PSU, stepper driver board, soldering iron, etc). I love collecting junk, because "maybe it will be useful for some of my projects in the future" (It usually works!).
I'm "somehow" colorblind (it's hard to explain) but anyway I studied art (painting, specifically) for 3 year with nice results. I like making reproductions (paintings, not only nes ;D), and if I see a color I somehow just know what colors to mix to reproduce it, even if I have NO IDEA of what colors they are (maybe it's better not to have a name for each one? :D). Oh, and of course my first painting featured a NES ;D. And.... I FRIGGIN' HATE MOTHS!!!!!!!
Yes, I know, I'm a really, really weird guy ;D

i have rules about drinking: only Guinness or Sake (any kind)

A girl... Ssssh. Also, that word is "imbecile". She seems to think I'm emo or something(I'm not), but if that's the kind of thing she likes, then okay.
So Marga might come over tomorrow. :)
Ahah. Our school only has like three genuinely emo kids, one goth kid, and like a zillion scene kids.
So confusing. :P
Some of the scene girls are kinda cute
WTF is a scene kid? Is that the new word for "prep"?
Hard to describe.
Uh... Hm. Brightly colored clothes, weird patterns. Hair sometimes looks. Uh. I guess fryed i s the best way to describe it.
Scene is kinda like emo, but they don't cut :P
Just so you know emo has nothing to do with what you're talking about.
http://www.emotivehardcore.com/ (http://www.emotivehardcore.com/)
It is a clique though, in most places, it means extremely emotional or emotional exaggeration
It's a misnomer.
Haha. I love when people bring that up. Face it, the term "emo" has been stolen and no longer means what it used to mean.

Exactly. Nowadays there's a huge difference between liking 'emo' and liking Rites of Spring, which is a shame. I hate when stuff like this happens.
The word emo originated as meaning emotive hardcore, but it no longer means that. It now means emotional, whether we like it or not. Let us review a similar example: Take the word gay into mind. It used to mean happy, now it just means that you are a freakin' homo. I'm not gonna go around saying I'm gay and I'm not going to go around saying I like/am emo. lol. It is just something that must be accepted. The masses have spoken.

I think I have a solution. We can use "emo" for emotive hardcore and "emaux" for the whiny commercial stuff. It's like faux and emo combined, so it makes sense, right? Hooray for boredom-induced wit :P
MTVmo works as well haha.

The punishment for blurting out in my honors math class is as follows:
1. Receive the first sentence of a Shakespearean love poem.
2. Google that sentence
3. Write the poem in its entirety, and bring it to school the net day.
4. Read the poem to a member of the class of an opposite gender, while holding their hand.
It got so bad the teacher resorted to this. One kid has to do 4 poems on Monday.
It's unfortunate a math teacher treats Shakespeare as a punshiment.

I love reading, but Shakespeare almost scared me off. I'm sure my opinion of him wouldn't be so negative if schools today wouldn't completely force kids to read his plays and poems, but honestly, it shouldn't be mandatory. I had to take over for a half a year for 9th grade English kids like six years ago. Teaching them about Shakespeare and analyzing Romeo and Juliet was just as dreadful as it was when I was taught and forced to read it almost 15 years ago. And then we wonder why kids struggle in state English exams, just look at the crap they have to read!
The brilliance of some men can't be matched, which is true of Shakespeare. There may have been a better poet before or since, there may have been a better storyteller before or since, there may have been a better philosopher before or since, but never do you get such a perfect combination of the three.
From hour to hour, we ripe and ripe,
And then, from hour to hour, we rot and rot;
And thereby hangs a tale.
-- William Shakespeare, As You Like It, 1603
That single quote says everything I just said...only with eloquence.
Once again, says you. :P
OK, I kid with that response. But eh, everyone has different tastes. For example, I love Walt Whitman, Edward Arlington Robinson and Robert Frost. Shakespeare is just too bland for me. I just could never get into him, and thought it was so pointless that every school forced you to read five or more of his works. Honestly, very rarely does a kid understand and enjoy Shakespeare's work now-a-days. And it was the exact same way for all of us when I was in my English classes in high school.
I'll just say Hamlet and Macbeth are two of the best pieces of literature I've ever read.
I enjoy Shakespeare (or whoever wrote for him under his name) but I think HS students can't understand his work because their brains haven't fully developed yet (re: frontal lobe; doesn't fully develop until about the age of 25) and because of the Old English it was written in. Such a shame we were all forced to endure it at such a young age when we weren't able to fully appreciate the writing...
Found a bunch of plantars warts under my foot, fuck. I just cut the skin off and put acid stuff on them. Ow.
Mitchell is coming over tomorrow, Marga might, too.

The punishment isn't the choice of writing. No, you could use any love poem. The punishment itself is doing the work of looking it up, and then the worst part is reading it to a girl (or boy) holding their hand.

Ok, well...

I share a room with Rogles.
Back from vacation! It was awesome! ;D
Now I have a lot of stuff to read to catch up ::):P.
Pics will come later, stay tuned!
Tomorrow, I go for my two-week checkup for my ingrown toenail that I had removed.
On Wednesday, my other big toe became swollen..yesterday...an ingrown toenail formed.
Son of a bitch >:(
Ouch...Damn the irony.
Just got back from the doctor, got it fixed.
Yay. ::)
I am a socialist. I live in a frickin' redneck hillbilly what my dad calls "bubba republican" hick town. There's only one kid at school that concurs with my point of view. It does provide for some pretty funny conversations, though.
Me: How is Obama a terrorist?
Retard: HE WEARS A TURBAN TO CHURCH
You can imagine.
Well, you live in Missouri, so I'm not surprised. :P One good thing about living in New York is that there are semi-intelligent people around you. Except for my Biology class. I'm probably one of the only students in my class passing Biology.
According to his profile, he lives in Michigan, not Missouri. Michigan is MI, Missouri is MO. So much for that semi-intelligence you speak of. :P
Our school surprisingly has quite a few smart kids....
But it's really one side or another with our school, so if you're not smart--you're stupid
We have lots of hicks...LOTS of hicks...
I know this probably sounds REALLY stereotypical and mean...but this is the exact description of a kid in our school
His name is Bob...Bob Button... he has horrible teeth, smells, wears boots all the time, and tells everyone about his tractor, his John Deere tractor. He has a ton of John Deere shirts, and has a southern accent, but his whole life, he and his family have only moved south. According to him, he was born in Michigan, and moved to Minnesota, and then here...I'll try and find a picture of him..
Did I mention he wears a straw hat every chance he gets?
We have a terrible bunch of hicks.
It's funny because everybody makes fun of them for sucking so hard.
They all wear a tan jacket, blue jeans, and cowboy boot type things. They will usually all have 'cowboy hats' or just hick caps.
It does little good to use your words to tear them down further than you claim their natural state to already be.

I was a movie extra in death to smoochy (spelling?). Between shots robin williams was getting the ice skating girls to sing the canadian national anthem (don't ask). I was the first in the croud of 2000 to join in, then he turned around and the entire croud joined in. Great moment in life.
my ex roommate and great friend is the twin brother of matt emerzian. Matt emerzian made a lot of the step-charts in the in the groove video game series. He did most of the doubles charts. As well as sound editing. His twin brother who I'm friends with also did a few of the charts in the game. If you're not familiar with the "in the groove" series it's fairly popular in canada and the US. Here's a wikipedia link

too bad konami sued the crap out of roxor and put an end to that great series of games.
Will's got some kind of problem... He's going to the emergency room just to see what's up.
Are you sure he wants everyone on the forums to know about that..?
He's pretty cool about it. He keeps talking about it. :S Okay, I'll revise my post.
What kind of prablem :O
Lower body...problems.
Prostate?
There's a reason why it was removed earlier. Let's leave it at that or take it to PMs.
I just hope he's OK :).
Mother just came in my room and gave me some sort of bill from AT&T
they Expect me to pay 43 dollars for text messages I did not send.
There is no way this can be correct, it says I have sent 80 text messages, when the real number is closer to 15.
And how can they charge ME for incoming messages, and I barely even have this phone turned on.
A Famicom cart came in your room and threw a cell phone bill at you?? :o
I have unlimited texting for $15 a month, and a max of 1,000 minutes. I only pay for the minutes I use.
Quote from: nurd on March 10, 2009, 02:58:54 pm

They charge the sender for sending it and they charge the receiver for receiving it. >:(
Which sucks if someone has unlimited texting, but the receiver is charged...
Instant spam...instant money loss >:( That's actually happened to these kids in my school who were fighting, and one spammed the other's phone, and he got charged like $400. The good thing is, the sender's parents paid for it.
But I have no way of preventing messages being sent to myself, How are they able to charge for that.
Phones are stupid. >:(
My phone lets me receive SMS messages for free ;D That's what I get for using an ancient phone.
My mom uses Tracfone and she doesn't get charged for receiving messages unless she opens them (she can see the sender before choosing to open it). I assumed contracts worked the same way.
Mobile phones are too complex for me, with all these godamned payments and shit.
Today sucked hard.
-I woke up, happy that it was Friday, and that I had a long weekend
-I was about to sit down to put my sock on. I was in the bathroom at the time, so I was about to sit on the toilet. I almost fell in between the toilet and the window sill...which would've hurt severely if I hadn't caught myself..but here's the weird thing. I stood back up, and all of a sudden, my lower back started hurting...BAD. It still does. I'm actually sort of scared..I don't know why it's hurting..I hope it isn't anything serious...
-I went to school, went in the gym before my first class, got hit in the face with a basketball, screwed up my glasses, and chipped a tooth.
-My algebra teacher gave us 3 sheets of homework..
-Got home, tried to get NesterDC SE to work..it didn't
That's it so far..I hope nothing else happens...this weekend's going to suck even more if my back doesn't stop hurting, because then I'll have to stay home the whole time...
I'm quite insecure.
Another thing to add to my list--My mom just started screaming in her sleep, then finally I went to see what was wrong, and she said she had a horrible pain...like a really bad charlie-horse or something on the back part of her leg ...it only lasted for about a minute, then it went away...
She said she's had them before, but not ever that bad. It scared me out of my fucking mind.
I'm glad she's okay now...
Dork tell your mom to see a doc and that back pain must be because you slept wrong it should go away. Hope your weekend turns out better.
Back pain hasn't gone away yet... I think my spine my be out of place :-X I felt my back, and on my lower back, there's a little spot where my spine is sticking out a little bit...I don't know if that's always been like that..but I doubt it.
My back is finally better. I woke up this morning, and the pain was gone...
A few weeks ago I sprained my ankle while going up the stairs. Thought it would heal on its own, but it only got worse. Finally I went to the doctor. Now I have to wear a walking boot for two weeks to immobilize my foot and let it heal.
Awe, that sucks! :(
How does it look like? Does it go up to your shin? Knee? Is it black?
If so, you should wear all black, & put another boot on & maybe no one will notice.
But then you'd have to explain the limp walk & the goth look.
It looks like this (random pic found on Google Images), except that mine is completely blue:
It's not too bad (it sure beats the hell out of the pain that I was suffering without it). I can walk reasonably well, but stairs cause me problems.
P.S: I generally wear black clothing and combat boots :P.
Blue? ??? Boo! >:(
Oh well, you can walk at least.

Are you dissing me?Why does the color matter to you?
Because he wears black leather, and a bright blue medical boot won't really blend in.
I had I really bad cough last night.....so I took like half a bottle of cough syrup.....on accident.... ( I thought it was less...I was tired...:P)
and I woke up 4 hours later...the room was spinning...I couldnt walk...I felt like I was going throw up....I couldn't get my eyes to focus.....I was seeing stars....and was shaking....
even as I type this out..I can still feel the effects....and I can still taste the cherry cough syrup...
and on top of that my ears are ringing....
I haven't eaten all day...
ooo and I think my girlfriend is going to break up with me....sooo yeah....pretty bad day.
Nice! (accept the breakup part). When I was little my mother gave me too much Nyquil and I felt like I woke up in the middle of the night -- twice. The first time my parents walked into my bedroom and my mother tried to stab me with a two-prong grilling fork. The second time I woke up, my mother was standing in the hallway outside my door in her robe, then suddenly floated upward holding my dad's head on top of her hand (she would float up, then reappear in the hallway, then float up again -- happened a few times.)
Whoa....I thought my hallucinations were bad....

Most people don't understand Marxism or it's subdivisions at all. Hell I've read "The Communist Manifesto" three times and I still get confused :-\.
That's because it's strictly conceptual (unapplicable to reality) and attempts to canalize human nature (suppression of propensity).

-I like communism as a theory, but it'll never work; corruption always seeps in somehow. So I'm more of a utilitarian socialist.
-Atheist from birth cause I guess my family just didn't want to make the choice for me. So I never did choose. Which is fine.
-I'm a rabid science fiction fan, but pretty much hate an SF story if there isn't some kind of science behind everything.(I'M LOOKING AT YOU, STAR WARS)

Exactly. I'm conservative-Republican with just a hint of liberal on some things. The corruption, I think, is free will. Communism would be perfect if we had no free will. Humans are unpredictable. So, we have a government that mostly compliments our unpredictable behavior. Anyway, please don't take any of this the wrong way. I'm not trying to recruit you to become a republican, nor am I bashing your beliefs. The last thing I want to do is start a political war on the forum that's helped me so much ::)

Those verses refer to the covenant between God and the Jews. When Christ died, it symbolized a new covenant between God and man, nullifying the old covenant. Therefore, Christians don't necessarily observe those laws. Observant Jews, for obvious reasons, still do.

Here's something cool and interesting. My close relative was Picasso's agent in Paris before he was recognised - put on many of his first exhibitions and owned most of his artworks including the crying woman (and the elusive study drawing). I always flip the burger upside down when I eat it....
A few things about me, good and bad:
Was a severe drug addict for about 5 years, going on 6 years clean!
I was in a commercial for Dibs Ice Cream Snacks. Ive also had walk on roles in 2 direct to DVD Horror films. I have also auditioned for various voice acting roles, but to no avail....
I love Disco and High NRG music from the 80s.....but I also love Thrash metal like Municipal Waste and Demolition Hammer. I DESPISE Gangsta Rap and Newer R & B.
I have never met my mother, but I am aware of her existence. I have a half sister who is 14 years younger than I.
I once had every single Dreamcast game up until Border Down was released. I was hoping SNK vs. Capcom would come out for the system, but It never did so I decided to sell it all off cause my heart has always been with the NES and Famicom.
I am one of very few people who can say they own a restored 1974 AMC Gremlin.
I was married for 7 months once, thats just a bad subject and I wont discuss it further.
My BEST friend from childhood was severely maimed in the Iraq war, lost his right leg, half of his right hand, and blinded in his right eye. This really changed my views towards the US government and the way they destroy lives without batting an eyelash. He has never received any compensation for what has happened to him. I guess them taking care of the injuries they forced upon him is the Governments Idea of compensation. Bull shit.
I am a mechanical Engineer, specifically I rebuild and fabricate automatic transmission parts for BMW, Saab, Audi, Porsche, and Volvo.
My Favorite food is Nachos or Sushi. My favorite Drinks are Arizona Lemonade, Grape Kool-Aid, Lucozade, and basically any flavor of Goya brand Soda (but NOT Malta Goya, Yuck!)
I love cartoons and have a huge collection of well over 400 different animated series from around the world. Most of it is bootleg stuff that has no official DVD release (or even VHS for that matter), took me 10 years at least to acquire this much stuff. I need to buy a few external hard drives to start backing them all up, seeing as how I read that DVD-R deteriorates quickly, fortunately I have not encountered a bad disc yet.

I'd like to know which record it is as well, as I have a copy of the book.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Fastest Ten Man Brawl, Co-op. My sister and I were 8 and 13 (respectively) in '09 when we first got the record.

Now that's cool. I hope to get in a later edition someday.
I'm unbelievably lucky I'm in it, and know I'm in it. For one, someone beat our record long before the 2011 edition came out. To late I guess :D. Along with that, I never got any sort of notification that I was in there. My little sister (also in the record book) just happened to be skimming through it, saw our names, and bought it for me!

Man you're lucky. Everyone I know from school doesn't even know what a NES is, let alone a Famicom.
What do you all want to know? I'm a very open person and i will tell people how it is and alot of the time that doesn't go down too well!
I don't like to show my true feelings and while I may seem to be just "normal" I could very well be depressed or annoyed with something.
You might not know... that I am a silly man.

Well now I know! And knowing is half the battle!
I use to be the editor and owner of Jagwired Magazine. A magazine dedicated to the Atari Jaguar. Only put out 6 issues but had a blast talking to old Atari employees. The largest issue was over 180 pages. Fact is the community for the Jag is really unstable, as seen on other boards. Turned my love for the machine to hate. Sold my Jag and never looked back. sigh

I just googled it to see what that looks like.

My spine is just all over the place partially from a work injury, Having floppy tummy muscles from having a baby and big boobs and sitting like a slob! When i go back to my doc i'm pretty sure she's going to send me to get some physio on it to put all the bits back in the right place and i'm probably going to start wearing corsets again on a regular basis. I'll just have to make me a nice new one.

I have no clue what "dumped" means, in the gaming sense. Oftentimes I see people asking if a game is "dumped" or not, and I genuinely have no clue what it means because I've never cared enough to look up the meaning.
Really now? ;D
Easily said, dumping (to dump) is just the process of turning a cart/disk etc. into a ROM on a computer.
Btw in Japanese it's called 吸い出す (suidasu), literally meaning "to suck out." ;D
....Oooh. Well now everything makes sense... at first I almost thought they literally meant dumping it, like in a landfill... such as what happened with the E.T. Atari cartridges. Thanks Manuel.

A couple, but they both lived on the grounds of the research lodge we were staying at, so it wasn't like they surprised us, and I only got a picture of the smaller one - will link later once I'm actually not fond of spiders, either, but for whatever reason, these big ones weren't all that formidable. (We're talking like, tarantula sized spiders. Nothing ENORMOUS.) Watching the bigger one squeeze its oversized butt and legs back into the tree hollow it lived in, though - pretty nasty.
A giant bird eating spider fell on my Grandad's hat in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) when he lived there as a boy :S

As for me, I hate to let a game sit if I go thrifting or whatever. If I see 9 decent games, and one crap title, I hate to cherry pick and feel bad leaving the crap title sit...

I enjoy bicycles very much, it is my own way of transportation, I no longer own a car. I have deep loathing for the price of car insurance, gas and the later years of manufacturing design that require specialized tools to work on cars. Cannot also forget the monopoly the oil industry has on not allow more efficient and safer fuel to come about to the mass public.
I'm also a bicycle guy. It's cheaper for me; I also hate the high cost of owning and maintaining a car. It also forces me to get more exercise than I otherwise would; I have a few 10-mile rides a month across town to look at game stores. (It combines my love of cycling AND game collecting!)
If I could I'd get rid of my car, too, but it's just impractical.

I would be most interested in why it might be impractical for you. I thought Japan would be much easier than the United States. It is in a sense a lot of work for me to be car free, but I cannot think of it this way as it will only make it harder. If you have any questions I would be willing to answer them for you to give you alternative solutions and such.
Japan is not only Tokyo and other big cities where you can get everywhere quickly by train and bike. ;)
I live in a smaller town where distances are a bit longer.
Also, for emergencies having a car is quite practical.
(Once I paid off my car loan I probably won't mind so much anymore. ;D )

Ah, I understand. One thing you could always try and do is be "car-lite". One where they don't fully rely on their automobile for every trip.
I figure if I'm ever in a jam and I absolutely need car, I would rent one or use one of the many public transportation systems. Also if it is of any interest to anyone, I find bike-forums.net to be a really great source for all things living car free and bicycle related. A fun mature forum just like Famicom World :)

Man sounds pretty serious. Is he really that violent? If it were that serious it might be good to consider looking at some Surviellance Equpiment that records movement to a hard drive with nightvision. That and if you're getting custody with no visitation rights on his end, to relocate with an unlisted number and such.
Things always get better with time, clarity on the issue comes forth. The biggest thing one can do for themselves is to step back from relationships for a good period of time.
With my last relationship that was serious, It was about six or seven years ago. It took a good two years for me to get fully back to my old self. You might recover quicker or it might take longer, the time doesn't matter but what you learn and regain from the negative experience so you don't make the same mistakes twice.
Time to yourself is good; Sitting too much indoors not doing anything and you'll end up dwelling in depression. If your relationship tied you down and it kept you from doing activities, take some back up. I highly recommend cycling from experience but I imagine Beaches would be nice, Botanical Gardens or as relevant to this forum, Arcades =]

Not at all, I too believe he's real, and in dire need of investigation for unfair labor practices. Not to mention the crazy drugs he must be forcing on these elves to stunt their growth.
The ex was psychologically violent he would make me ridiculously paranoid and he still does. He was not physically violent with me very often because I could defend myself well but completely different story for the wee kidlet :( He has copped a few beatings but being so fucked up I was too scared to speak out and his family seem to think because I can't prove the abuse it's not going to be taken into account with the family court. Hell even some of his friends seem to think i'm making it up. Kidlet has been better without his father and is a much happier little boy. He starts pre-school in just over a week so mummy will have some awesome chilling out and cleaning the house like mad time!
I walk everywhere these days and the depression mostly had to do with the ex and just about everyone who knows me can see that we're both so much better now. I'm attempting to learn about electronics so that I can repair my old consoles and ones that I find along the way.
Every single day I'll look at my watch to see the time, and a lot of the time it will be somwthing like 11:11, or 3:33, 10:10, 2:22 and so on.
alao i have an internal alarm that wakes me up around 7:am. It is very annoying when you also wake up 5-10 times a night as it is. I cant even sleep in on weekends. :(
When I lock my car (yeah, I somehow managed to get a driving licence), I often check to make sure it's locked.
I need to do pelvic floor exercises more often having lost some weight things have moved around.
Everybody should do pelvic floor exercises it's good for you bladder control
I've been dealing with bouts of depression on and off. (but i've since gotten help for it.)
Last year took my aunt, my great uncle and my cousin from this big beautiful world and took them to a better place where I know they aren't suffering anymore. Thankfully, I'm not super depressed anymore but I like to think about my aunt a lot since she was basically my second mother. I miss her every day.
However, the end of year seemed to pick up since I was able to buy the house I grew up in and now have a nice gaming set up as well as living with my best buddy and my little brother.
I also am glad I still have this forum. It's been a blast being here for this long and it's always fun to see the new and old faces who love the Famicom as much as I do.
Thanks for being here, guys. ;D
Hey. Sad to hear of your losses. It's never easy. Depression hurts as well(ive been diagnosed chronic major depressive). Im glad you hung in there buddy and am happy things are looking up for you.
I just went 2 days without drugs or alcohol. I know it doesn't seem like much but I am VERY impressed with myself. If there's anything narcotics anonymous taught me, it's to take things day by day.
For anybody who hasn't been intoxicated, I recommend that you stay away. it really is hard to stop taking drugs and alcohol once youve been doing it a while. (11 years for me. For the last 6 or so years it's been an almost daily thing for me.)
Right now my 2 main crutches are pot and alcohol. I've quit pretty crazy habits in the past though.
I used to smoke weed a lot but one thing that really helps in cutting down is maintaining structure within your life. It's a lot easier to get your mind off of things like that when it's being occupied with other things like work or hobbies. It also helps if you don't buy it yourself and only smoke when you're with friends who do. I've never been a huge fan of alcohol, but do drink occasionally on the weekends (college parties and such). I used to think about weed a lot and smoke every other day a couple summers ago but school and other relationships tend to get my mind off of it pretty fast and thoughts like that aren't always floating around in my head anymore. It's very nice to not be so preoccupied with it all the time.

Sounds like it was a phase to be honest - I've seen it destroy people's motivation and I personally can't stand to see it, so glad you moved on :)

Sounds great bro, keep up the good work! Right now I am on vacation with my family, so that has steadily cut down my drinking habit to one or two beers a day, max, so no drunken nights or anything crazy.
For me, I just love the taste of beer, and love to home brew stuff too. Set the end of last year though, I felt that things were getting a bit out of hand, and I think some probs with my gf and other life issues just made it worse. For the next 3 months, my brother will be coming to stay with me, so any alcohol use will definitely make if back to more reasonable doses, much more moderation, which is key to this sort of thing.
I went 4 days sober. Neat feeling, minus withdrawl lol. My doctor put me on Lorazepam to help me sleep at night.
Sounds good!
Personally I like to have a few beers with good company but I never drink alone. But I had relatives that was literary killed by alcohol. I would never touch drugs though. It's not really generally accepted in Sweden which is a good thing.
I wish you luck and keep at it!

If you don't mind me asking, killed by alcohol poisoning, some related cause (like drunk driving) or by cancer or something?
Sounded like alcohol addiction to me, which I have also lost a friend to unfortunately.

Yes addiction.
Alcohol is fine in moderation, the trouble comes when you can't moderate it and then it becomes enough of a problem for people to say 'do not drink, ever'.
I rarely drink but I don't believe it is a problem in small amounts, if you have the composure. Nobody likes a drunk though, so the saying goes.
Having said that, Mo, you're not missing out on anything (it's not easy to buy alcohol in SA is it I understand?) and I actually quite respect those people who are completely teetotal, that too takes dedication.
I rarely drink at all, I'd much rather sit down with a cup of tea and browse Famicom World, genuinely! Not everyone is the same though and we're all from different cultures and countiries, so one rule for all doesn't exist.
In the end, I do hope those with troubles are all able to see through them though, it's not a nice thing to have to overcome.
I think LET is right, we are all from different cultures and backgrounds, and that definitely helps influence our thoughts on the matter. I was never as much of a drinker until I went to Germany, and then my love for quality tasting product led to me home brewing.
I think it is against the religion for people from Saudi Arabia to drink? At least this is what my old classmate/good Saudi friend had told me, though he would go out and drink with ya sometimes in the states.
I know alcohol is outlawed there
Yeah in many muslim countries it's more or less illegal.
My Iraqian friends says you can't drink in Iraq but many people drink at home.

Everyone says that I'm funny when I drink though (I guess I'm really boring when sober lol). Some people I don't want to drink with though because I know they gets really rude when drunk. I also remember about everything no matter how drunk I was which also is good. It's nice to know that you didn't bother other people too much. But you are right, it's best in moderation if you can handle it, and if not it's probably best to stay away.
Because it is against the religion Islam. Not because its illegal or against the law or something. :)
SA and other muslim countries for example taking things seriously by educate the community for Alcohol, drinking, drugs, and so.

Quotation: ;D Islam's holistic approach to health and well-being means that anything that is harmful or mostly harmful, is forbidden. Therefore, Islam takes an uncompromising stand towards alcohol and forbids its consumption in either small or large quantities. Alcohol is undoubtedly harmful and adversely affects the mind and the body. It clouds the mind, causes disease, wastes money, and destroys individuals, families, and communities.
Beer are allowed as long its not alcoholic :bub:
I think at one time in part of the middle east - Iran I think - they had some breweries and beer was against the religion yet popular. Then there was a change in regime and a crackdown. Began.
I had a stressful day of work today with related residual drama lasting in to the evening. I'm in a weird spot because I'm friends with my coworkers but my boss is my godfather. I am feeling sick with anxiety right now, and I am trying not to drink so I don't have that to ease my stress and I have no pot either.. I am not supposed to take my anxiety meds until bedtime as they usually knock me right out within an hour. (Which is good because I have insomnia) im just having a bad day all around. Its been 5 days since I have gotten drunk though so there's always that.
I used to drink in the states occasionally.. but now not as much as i do in Japan.. Very hard not to cause everyone and their 90 year old grand mom drinks here.. I drink, but i dont get stupid or drunk.. i guess im responsible with it...I like the taste... Sho-chu & Sake are fun to try all the different styles and taste.. almost required to drink in business here heh..
Yeah it's strange that a high number of Japanese turns red like a tomato and can't drink anymore after just half a beer and yet everyone seems to drink. I also drink much more in Japan than anywhere else, since all the Japanese also wants to drink almost anytime.

FAMILY & HERITAGE
On my dad's side of my family, my grandma is Lithuanian, and my granpa is Belarussian (Russian Empire territory, now more independent). I had four great-grandfathers. Two came to America after the Czar was executed. Two stayed in Belarus. The brothers in Belarus (now the Soviet Union) could not mention the American relatives (other brothers) because the Bolsheviks would kill them. I just learned about this because I found a relative in the Russian Federation who e-mailed me the info.
On my mom's side, my grandma called herself a 'mutt' because her nationality was mixed. She was Scottish, English, Irish, and possibly Welsh (UK, and the Rep. of Ireland). My great-grandfather was Italian, and possibly had slaves (wow).

It sucks that the cops got you in trouble, but funny that your license was expired by one day.
I like drinking a few times a year, but I don't really crave alcohol all that much. I smoke/vaporize marijuana regularly instead.
Today i read in newspaper that some 2 guys in Germany died from heart attack caused by smoking too much of marijuana.. so be careful with that :(

I also had a friend in high school who also started getting the symptoms of schizophrenia because of his herb/alcohol use. He also already has kidney problems and we're both just 20 years old! Now that I'm a bit older and live on my own with my girlfriend while going to college, I have to cut back a little bit and focus more on responsibilities 8) I totally miss being a lazy video game teenager :P I'm considering doing an indoor micro grow in a PC tower case in a few months to save money on herbs.
Anyone who insists it does no damage and is totally fine is clearly mistaken and/or in denial. It's awful stuff and destroys motivation, I can't stand it.

That totally depends on your personality. If you have an addictive personality you are more prone to loose motivation. Also this kind of behavior is really more common in teenagers or who don't have many responsibilities to deal with at that age. Adults who have a routine that involves work and/or education can handle the balance of work and relaxation 8)

It does cause lung damage if you're smoking it, but you'd have a better chance of winning the lottery jackpot multiple times than dying from it.
It doesn't destroy motivation nor is it awful stuff. You'd be surprised at who does it, which includes many highly-motivated, creative, and successful people.
Drinking, OTOH, is much more dangerous and causes a lot more bodily damage.
Of course you'll find people all along the spectrum, but that's true with anything. There are no hard and fast rules.
Drinking in excess is definietly more dangerous - but the loser stoner type image is there for a reason. I think it's for lazy people, having seen it over and over again with friends I grew up with.
There are always exceptions of course, I'm not calling anyone here lazy :bub:
I still hate it though, especially the smell, it's filthy stuff.
I disagree. I love the smell, the taste, the whole experience of grinding, loading, lighting, and amoking.
I agree that it "can" cause people to act lazy under its influence, but there is no damage caused really (except inhaling the smoke)
I'm a daily user and I get up every morning at 7am and build houses.
It has a lot of tar - the entire medical profession says that it is harmful. It doesn't have to be destructive though.
Just going on what I've seen. One of the people I was talking also builds houses and teaches martial arts, ironically.
I just can't stand it, I really hate the thing, I have friends that used to sit in every evening and they're still doing exactly the same thing. It's really disappointing to see.
The government also says it is schedule 1. Highest abuse potential with no medical value, yet they prescribe it to people. They also prescribe processed versions like sativex, and marinol. They prescribe analogs such as cesamet, and they are doing research in to other cannabinoids as well. Tylenol, a very popular non narcotic alangesic, metabolizes in to AM-404, a synthetic cannabinoid, in your body. Your brain even produces endo cannabinoids naturally.
With any medication, there are positives and negatives. A doctor has to weigh them and decide if the positives outweigh the negatives.
You can't always believe what the government says.

I also love the act of setting up your bowl and just totally indulging in the experience. It's almost like a ritual. What kind of piece do you prefer to use MaxXimus?
I used to be strictly bongs but ive migrated to pipes. Right now im using a pipe that appears to be made from some kind of quartzlike stone.
I also have two bongs, and a gas mask that I use on rare occasions lol. Ill take a pic of it. :p

what ever do you mean, officer? I smoke tobacco with that.
Lol.
I mainly use my vaporizer, the Extreme Q 4.0 by Arizer and a glass pipe. I have always been a pipe smoker. It's so balanced! 8) Bongs get me too effed up, so I smoke with one on occasion. It's still fun though! I also don't want to waste all my herb on huge bong rips! I use like 1.5g a week and use a few times daily.
I can space out 2 to 3 gs a week yeah pipes are awesome. I like to just put a bit in the bowl at a time and have a bunch of small hoots throughout the evening.
That's your government you're talking about Max, not mine ;)
I'm not trying to preach to you guys but it does have medically proven physical and mental repercussions. If those don't phase you that's one thing but let's not pretend they don't exist. I think it's more tolerated over here than there, but I still hate the stuff. Walked past some guys today and the smell made my stomach turn.
That mask though, is hilarious.
I know you're not preaching to anyone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Let's not pretend there is no medical value though. It is a very powerful anti emetic with anti anxiety(with the right dose, and some tolerence), and pain killing effects. it is also one of only a small amount of substances that can give new life to cancer patients who feel too sick to eat. There is even evidence that it is neuroprotective. I could go on and on but I won't. As stated before, there are positives and negatives to everything. For me, the positives outweigh the negatives. It manages my anxiety to a moderate level as well as helps me sleep at night. Plus, it is pretty fun haha.
and thanks about the gas mask haha. I pull it out a couple times a year.
I'm with LET, but I know it's been used in medicine since forever in China (as a result many words in Chinese/Japanese that's related to numbness or anaesthesia and such have the character for hemp in it). So I can see why people use it as a kind of pain killer, but people using it just for fun when they don't really need it, are like they are asking for trouble IMHO.
I've found that it's great for when I have really fucked up back pain that taking hardcore painkillers (opiate type stuff ) doesn't work!
I also used to have an addiction to prescription painkillers with codeine in them which is probably part of the reason they don't work.
I used to have a bit of an oxycodone habit. Thank god I kicked that habit. Now that is a drug that ruins lives.
They gave me that shit after I had my gall bladder out it made me all too foggy brained and it didn't help with the pain at all so I hated taking them
