Title: Family Bits book
Post by: fcgamer on February 25, 2022, 10:20:29 am
Well the long wait is soon over. It was worked on for about eight years, cancelled twice, my book on Famicom games will be released sometime this quarter or early second quarter.

Actually due to publishing costs, I ultimately decided to break the book up into a series of hardcover books. There's enough content for about 15 books in my estimation, though I'm only concerned about getting 9 of them released, 7 of which are basically more or less written.

The first volume will feature games developed by studios in Taiwan. The book is about 300 pages, full colour. I'm currently just tying up loose ends.

Below you can see a rough cover and some proof of concept pages from awhile back, Changes have been made since then.

If you have any interest in the project or even in subsequent volumes, please link, tweet, etc to get the word out there that this is coming.

Thanks! I'll post more information as the days pass.

Great looking book, a huge 15 volume book is really impressive. It would be a great read probably, a whole book on Famicom would be excellent. I hope it does well. Good luck.

Heck yeah. I'll be ordering this day ONE.

What would be the best link to provide to promote it?

And for others who might be interested, the first volume of the book is available. Sorry about the price, it's partially because Amazon is being greedy.

I will release a paperback version later, but honestly this sort of thing should be hardcover.

The first volume of Family Bits is available!!!

This volume covers all of the unlicensed Famicom games released by Taiwanense companies, and includes screenshots, cartridge / box images, etc.

I've  begun work in the next volume, slated for summer

Unfortunately they're doing the publishing. Though I could order one and sell it to you direct...

You're mentioned in the credits, BTW. I used one or two of your scans (please don't kill me), but on top of that, you were always one of my idols, I always looked to you for inspiration as one of Poland's top collectors. ;)

Bump!

This one's on sale indefinitely, if you haven't picked one up please do.

I'm looking into releasing a paperback version in the fall, but honestly hardcover is the way to go.

I recently got FB III first, just because I've always had a strange fascination with multicarts! I'll definitely be getting FB I sometime very soon! If FCGamer sees this... where is FB II?!  :redcart:

What happened to volume #2? I see Volume #1 and #3 on Amazon, but no volume #2. Little weird.
