Title: Famicom Mini
Post by: PishWacker on May 21, 2022, 07:31:04 am
Hey guys ... I just joined Famicomworld. I am hoping that someone can help me please... AND I apologize ahead of time if this question has already been asked or answered but I could not find anything related to it so here is my question...

ON THE FAMICOM MINI - does anyone know if the spot (circled in blue in photo) on the front of it is for plugging in a separate controller? I know that I can get the NINCADE Bluetooth adapter, but would prefer if I can just plug in an external controller---if that is indeed a spot to do so.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks all!!!

on the famicom mini I don't know, but on the original famicom yes lol.

I know that doesn't help you, but you'll have your answer here for sure.

Thanks buddy. It's cool. Someone should know, right? I Googled as much as I could and STILL couldn't find out anything on it

Nah, it's just a piece of plastic.  MVG did a teardown video and you can see that it's just something molded onto the case, and that there isn't any kind of connector on the other side of it.

Thanks Joe. I see it now. Looks like maybe I'll go and get the NINCADE addition.
Does anyone know if there's any other cool mods that you can do to the FamiCom Mini? Like add ROMs or anything?
Best

There was a subreddit devoted to hacking the Famicom Mini.  Haven't checked it in years though.  They were loading more emulators and ROMs onto the system using the USB port and some software.

You can hack more space into it either with soldering an SD Mini card slot or using an adapter to add a 2nd USB port along with a USB drive.

Personally, I just hacked it so it can use the NES Classic controllers.  Works well enough.
