Title: New FDS 3206 Modchip v4, no need any wire, no need cut two wires
Post by: Tomy on July 18, 2022, 04:06:14 pm
Just put it over 3206 chip and solder 8 points. No need to cut any wire from the 3206 drive board. It will detect when it need to write. And write data same as 7201 chip.

Very nice! I have been looking at how the existing DIY mod (https://famicomworld.com/workshop/tech/famicom-disk-system-fd3206-write-mod/) works and considering a one-chip open source implementation. Have you considered open source for your project?

Very cool!

But why is the chip labeling scratched out?

Usually chips are sanded like that so that prospective reverse engineers have a harder time dumping the code and making repros (because they don't know what chip it is). I'd wager this example is a PIC16! It's fa-sho a ATF16V8B!

Sorry, it is not open source project. This one is open source : https://famicomworld.com/workshop/tech/famicom-disk-system-fd3206-write-mod/

The different is mine no need to cut two wires. And I tested mine fully support all MGD1/FDSStick/FDSEmu/Copy Master/Tonkachi Editor/Disk Hacker else..

I beleive the one from famicomworld will work too. But I don't test it.

No worries -- do you have a sense of how much your mod may cost?

I see so it's a PLD, I kinda thought it was some common logic chip or something.
