Title: Some quick questions regarding FDS care
Post by: diskkunbear1989 on February 19, 2023, 02:31:04 pm
Hi everyone

I've had my FDS for a little over a year and I am curious what cause errors 27 & 40? My disks read for the most part but when the game has to load a new area i usually get those error codes. Is this a disk problem or system issue. currently only own zelda II, mario 1 & 2 (side a mario 2 side b mario 1) castlevania 1 & II. Zelda II and cv II are the ones giving me error codes most often, in fact I don't think mario or cv1 ever has. Thanks for the help.

I haven't experienced an error 40. However, error 27 can often indicate that a disk is dirty.

Personally, I use the official HVC-027 "Card Cleaner" with alcohol swabs. You may be able to pinch a larger alcohol towelette over both sides of a disk awhile turning the hub with your other hand -- I can't think of another solution off-hand.
