Thanks for reading this.
I recently bought this interesting Famiclone that looks to be made in the early 2000s (2002-2003). The Chinese translation is TV Game Engine. It seems to be working fine but it is PAL-D.
Can this be converted to NTSC?
I've included some photos of the board. I took them before and after I cleaned the unit (forgive the dirty board photos)
Any insight would be great. Thanks for your help.
Update. The orange Famiclone is actually PAL-B not PAL-D. I haven't done anything with it yet. I noticed the 9 pin controller port is not working and will look into that later. However, I have D30 xiaobawang 小霸王 (SUBOR) clone console from 2006. I'm going to try the conversion to NTSC on that. If it goes well I want to put the D30 board into the Orange Famiclone. There will be some miss-matching especially with the AV and power ports but I'll work around it. I could leave the D30 in its original plastic case but that case so cheap quality. In fact the ribbon cables between the cart-board and the power/AV board broke off because that cable is cheap quality as well.
2nd Update. I was able to get the Orange Famiclone outputting PAL at 60hz. I'm not sure if it's NOAC but by putting a solder blob on the S5060 pad and the one next to changed the speed.
The NPS pad soldered to the pad beside it switches the system to NTSC. I swapped out the crystal (26mhz to 21mhz) but found it didn't display the game. I tried the other pads soldered and no luck.
I'll keep the system as PAL 60hz as I already have a 小霸王 outputting at NTSC.
try combinations of those 3 pads to get proper NTSC with the new 21.xx MHz crystal :)

Great. Thanks for your help.
I've ordered a set of smaller 21.xx crystals and will try with one of those. I have the bigger ones and used one on the D30 Subor but this famiclone console has the smaller style of crystal. I'm guessing there is a function difference between the bigger and smaller crystals.
Crystal size and shape does not meter, do not worry.
