Title: My Super Famicom sounds like it it’s out of tune.
Post by: TomCanebow on December 09, 2023, 08:42:26 pm
Hello there. I'm new to the world of Famicom. I just got a Super Famicom and no matter which game I put in there, the music and sound effects sound out of tune. The picture's fine, and I hear music, but it sounds so strange. Any idea what the issue is?

Could you give us a sample?

I recorded the Donkey Kong Country intro since that's fairly iconic music.

Sounds like either S-DSP or S-SMP is failing.

If your console has the separate SHVC-SOUND soundbox, try reseating it, maybe. Otherwise it needs that swapped.

If it's a soundbox-less unit, then, well, probably best to just get another SNES.

Are you sure it's not PAL? :P

Seriously though, before you fix it can we get some more haunted recordings?  (unless it's too dangerous) :blinky: This sounds like it would fit in a sleepypasta.
