Title: On a mission and need NES vs AV Famicom advice
Post by: dagmor on April 13, 2024, 12:16:13 am
Hey folks, first post here.

I'm on a mission to build a modded Vs. Duck Hunt with 2-player simultaneous Zapper support. I know, it's crazy, but I do Gameboy ROM hacking and want to give it a shot. The NES game Chiller supports 2-player simultaneous Zapper support (one Zapper plugged into each port) so I know it's possible.

Now my question: I need hardware. Based on my research, it seems like an AV Famicom is the best choice for flexibility across anything I'd want to do (including playing Metroid FDS with better sound). I saw the article on this site describing how to mod the motherboard to support a Zapper in the second controller port. Is it possible to also mod the AV Famicom's first controller port to take a Zapper?

If it's not, I think I'm going to need to stick with the standard NES. Unless you all have other ideas?
