Hi !
I recently open my fully working famicom disk system to know what versions of chips I had.
I wanted to convert it to a writer fds.
But when I put all back together my games wouldn't load anymore.
When I put a game, the red ligth indicates it is reading the disk.
Indeed I can see the motor spining, and it indicates on screen « Loading... »
But then it stops reading and nothing happen, the loading screen is stuck...
I wonder if there is like a switch or something that is corrupted therefore not indicating the reading of the disk is done ?
Thanks for your help!
Check if the home return switch is properly getting hit during the carriage travel

I verified, the switch seem to click normally.
When I insert a game the element that reads the disk hits this switch like 2 times and loading does not disappear.
I tried to manually hit the switch after the reading is done, but no better...
Is that switch dead ?
How can I know that, can I test it with a voltmeter ? Sorry I am a beginner in electronics ...
Thanks
You can check the switch from the back side of the board, but before that...
Did you modify the system at all. Can you send a picture of your work converting the FDS to a writer one?
It kind of sounds like the FDS reads the game alright, but the console isn't receiving any data.
No, I just dismantled it to take photos.
I wanted to know what hardware I had to prepare the conversion to a writer.
I did not changed anything, except I changed the belt to put a new one.
I also ensured the reader was aligned.
Well, again, sounds like the console isn't seeing any data, otherwise you'd see an error code.
Could you make a video of it in action just to make sure?
Check if the cable going between the drive and the power board has continuity across all the pins.
Here's the video :

That switch I mentioned is not actually getting clicked, just nudged. See if there isn't a wire in the way.
Yeah !!
You were right, I bended a little bit the switch towards the reader, and now it works !
I think I had bended it in the opposite way when I open it previously.
Thank you very much for your analysis 😁😁
