Title: FC Data Recorder Cassette Club
Post by: fcgamer on June 20, 2025, 01:23:41 pm
I've had this idea going on in my head for about two or three years now, and after a lot of trial and error, I finally got things up and running. Welcome to the FC Data Recorder Cassette Club.

The idea is that each month subscribers will receive a cassette tape featuring new stages / tracks for one of the games that allows one to create new stages, such as Excitebike, Mach Rider, Lode Runner, Wrecking Crew, etc. My mind is like water on glass - I have so many ideas of fun things I can do to take this in various directions, some of which I'll likely implement around August.

Either way, each month's stages will only be available for around six weeks or so, and afterwards they won't be available again. I sort of envision a nice shelf of cassettes lined up featuring all of these custom stages.

This project is all to do with fcgamer, and has nothing to do with any game companies I am involved with. If you don't like this, please move on, it's just a fun hobbyist project with the hopes of trying to recreate the zeitgeist of the FC era. This disclaimer is incase Mr Fun decides to start harassing me here all whilst being a hypocrite with his own doings 😛

Anyways, if the FC Data Recorder Cassette Club sounds like your type of thing, feel free to check it out below:

This is a pretty crazy idea, lol.

I'm game, though.

Looks like your site can't do online payments right now, though?

(Also...I don't think Nuts & Milk supports the data recorder...)

Yeah it should be able to do online payments. What's it saying on your end?

"We're not able to accept online payments at the moment."

From Taiwan, but shipping is cheap.

Thanks! I just got this order too. Apparently it's because Wix does not offer reoccurring subscription services with PayPal payments, even when using a credit card. This is odd as I did a snack box service for years without issue, but what can be done.

Anyways if interested, you can order them individually. I just dropped the price down to the original sub price, too

Cool, that worked.  Your original link doesn't work any more, but I was able to search for the individual June & July listings.

It's a pretty cool idea, I don't hate it at all.

BTW all known games that support the tape drive are Family BASIC (all flavors), Excitebike, Mach Rider, Wrecking Crew, Castle Excellent, Loderunner and Arkanoid II (they are all in the data recorder list thread (https://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=5017.0)).

And Castle Excellent is just save-data, not custom levels.

Right, it's just for saving the game progress.
