Maybe it's a dumb question, especially for the likes of vealchop, but I always have trouble converting images I create that have a transparent background. It starts as something like .psd but then when I need to publish it online I can never convert it and maintain the image quality. What type of file do I need to convert it to?
PNG works nicely if you need a lossless format (with or without transparency). If it's a photo, use JPEG without using too much compression.
Maybe I just don't get it, but Photoshop won't allow a direct conversion from .psd to .png. It isn't an option.
Ah, I haven't used Photoshop in a while. I think you might have to use Export instead of Save As. Also, maybe try flattening the layers before trying to save it. It may be the image mode that's causing it, too. I think you want Image -> Mode -> RGB (instead of Indexed Color).
Sorry I'm so vague, I don't have a copy of Photoshop to play with at the moment.
what photoshop are you using? cs3 you just save as png
I figured it out. Thanks.
