My first multicart!
I wonder what is on it?
Nice, man. Only time will tell with that multi-cart. They're almost always a mystery until you pop it into the console. Check out FW's Pirated section for info on multi-carts.

Yeah, I have read all of it, and I am hoping that it is not one of those lame repeating carts. I was bidding on a 31 in 1 about two hours ago, there where zero bids when I bid with two minuets remaining, then in the last thirty seconds, someone else snipped me. It makes me so angry.
Yeah I saw that 31 in 1. I opted not to go for it 'cause I have no money right now. I think there were two of the same cartirdge up, but one was NES and the other was Famicom.
You mean this one?

I have one of these. It's a pretty solid cart, nice game selection. For me, it's worth having just for Balloon Fight. Man, I love that game.
What's Balloon Fight? I've never played it.
Really? Don't worry, I missed out on it back in the day as well. However, if you've played the game Joust before, you've played Balloon Fight.
In Balloon Fight, you're a little dude with a blue helmet, blue shirt, red suspenders (sounding familiar?), and two red balloons strapped to your back. Basically, you attack your enemies (which are other guys in bird masks also with a balloon on their backs) from above to pop their balloon, then again to break their parachute so they fall. Beat all the guys on the screen to beat the phase. Every few phases, there is a bonus game where you must pop 20 balloons as they come out of pipes. There is also a two-player option, which is where it can get crazy because you can pop each others balloons! I believe it came out for FC in '84 and was an NES launch title. There was also a G&W version made.
Anyway, you should pick it up. Like most of the games that came out of the R&D1 lab, this game is a true classic.

Could be picking up a Yobo sometime next month. May not be the real thing, but as long as I get to hear the music on Akumajou Densetsu and Lagrange Point, it's not too big of a deal.
:o Oh, that's too good. Thanks for the list! Someday soon I'll post a complete list of things I own, which has got to be nearing 200 carts, if not more.
Quote from: Jedi QuestMaster on October 31, 2006, 09:43:21 pm
You've got everything I've & more! :o
Wait, do you have Space Invaders? And Galaxian. Galaxian, too.
No!! I'm just a young padawan!
May the force help me finding at least Galaga and Galaxian!!
Got em both CIB...muahhahahahahahahaha!!!!
I actually counted the number of Famicom carts that Profeta Yoshitake has on that list and it's 189! And he writes that it's an almost-complete list, so he probably has more. That's a lot of Famicom carts.
Here are the Famicom things that I will own very soon. I don't think I'll own any Famicom carts since I have to start a new collection from there. But I am proud of my Famicom Disk collection. So I'll stop there. I ordered all the games and systems from Ebay. Some of the items haven't arrived to my doorstep yet as I write this, but hopefully they will arrive soon since it's been taking forever. Out of all the things I have here, I paid the most for the Family Computer since it's kinda hard to find a new one these days. I got my brand new Family Computer for $300 US without shipping, but it's in perfect condition, even the box and the styrofoam are pristine, and includes everything.
Here's the list:
Hardware: Original Family Computer, Famicom Disk System
Disk software:
The Hyrule Fantasy: Zelda no Densetsu (aka The Legend of Zelda)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan)
Nazo no Murasamejou
Super Mario Bros.
Metroid
Hikari Shinwa: Palutena no Kagame (aka Kid Icarus)
The Legend of Zelda 2: Link no Bouken
Shin Onigashima (Zenpen + Kouhen)
Famicom Tantei Kurabu: Kieta Koukeisha (Zenpen + Kouhen)
Famicom Tanei Kurabu II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo (Zenpen + Kouhen)
Akumajou Dracula (aka Castlevania)
SD Gundam World: Scramble Wars
Book: Family Computer 1983-1994 (what a great reference book!)
Please note that I have all the games and systems brand new and I don't plan to open them. I purchased for collection display and to review all the great games that were released on the Disk System.
Welcome! And cool stuff!!! :D Damn you must be loaded paying $300 for a CIB Famicom! Neat to have stuff in such great condition, though. If I had more money, I might consider paying good money for a pristine one. Mine's not bad...but it's got its dinks and scratches.
Oh, and Yoshitake may just have the most Famicom games of any of us. I still have yet to count all the carts my collection -- and I've got some dupes. It's sometimes hard to make the jump into a new area of collecting. I'm hesitating to get into FDS.
Welcome. :D
Thanks for all the welcome! I will continue posting here if I have stuff to say or find something interesting. The Famicom is awesome. Yeah, I saved up a lot of money from my allowance so I could afford to buy a brand new boxed Famicom for $300. I always wanted a Famicom for a while coz I think it looks so cool. I love the maroon and white combination. In my opinion, it looks a lot better than the NES. They easily sell a CIB Famicom in such a condition on Ebay for over $400 or even $500. I saw one sold for $525 Buy It Now on Ebay. I offered the seller $300 and he declined and I later offered the same amount for another seller from Hong Kong (toysonlinehk) and he accepted it. So that's how I got the brand new Famicom for $300. I am glad the guy before didn't accept my offer coz the condition of his brand new boxed Famicom looked worse. The styrofoam was coming off a tiny bit and the box isn't as perfect (still excellent though). But the one i bought is pretty much perfect, which is always nice.
And the perfect condition CIB Famicom that I got was originally $449.99 if I used Buy It Now!! So I actually saved $149.99. At first I thought he wouldn't accept my offer, but he did.

It's sometimes hard to make the jump into a new area of collecting. I'm hesitating to get into FDS.
Yes, I agree. But I am curious as to why you are hesitating to get into FDS. I've known about the FDS for quite a while now and I think it's a great system with all the great, classic games that I listed earlier today.
For me, I think my FDS collection already represents some of the greatest for both the Famicom and the FDS. I don't want to start collecting Famicom carts since I know I'll be spending too much time and money searching and buying new ones. There are just way too many Famicom carts that are considered classics. So I can potentially be spending hundreds of dollars which I already did with the FDS games. And I don't like to get video games that are cart only even though it's a lot cheaper. So I am very happy with my FDS collection and my other video game collections.
Well, the reason is simply: the lack of reliability of FDS disks. They tend to de-magnetize, or whatever you call it. I would hate to buy them only to have them stop working in a few years or not working to begin with. But then, I buy to play the games, not just to put them on a shelf. Don't get me wrong; I've considered collecting CIB for the sake of owning gaming history, but I haven't yet made that jump either. I own only one CIB Famicom game and I didn't buy it for the box.
You're right about there being so many carts out there. (I'll have an count of all known carts and disks very soon.) FDS is easy because there's only about 200, give maybe 50, if you include unlicensed. What I respect is that you are searching out the best -- the classics -- and not just any old game. I don't see the point in buying games that you don't like to play. But that's just me. With Famicom it's hard, however, because there are a bunch of games out there that no one in the U.S. really knows about...so you've got no choice but to buy lots just to test them all out. That's what I've been doing.
Money is always an issue. Most of us don't have hundreds of dollars stashed away or are pulling enough from our jobs to go out and buy all this stuff CIB. It's tough, especially when you're buying goods that have to be imported from across the widest ocean in the world. You do what you can, I guess.
I agree with everything you said. About your point of FDS disks demagnetizing, I am wondering if brand new, unopened ones demagnetize as well. I think probably not. But I am not going to open them anyway so it doesn't matter. It sucks that these FDS disks tend to demagnetize after years. I think proper treatment of the disks will make them last (such as not storing them in areas of strong electrical activity or temperature fluctuations).
I don't see the point in buying games that I don't like to play either. That's why I only get the best games and I can afford to get new ones since there aren't really that many AAA games for any system. Many games are in the A or B range, but few reach true classic status. I also have the issue of whether to buy games just for playing or to store them new. That's why like you, I have some duplicates for my other video game collections. One that's opened and one that's brand new sealed. But not for the Famicom disks since none of them will be opened.
Speaking of Famicom disks, I did a lot of searching and asking to be able to find every one of those classic titles brand new. I almost thought I can't possibly get all the FDS titles I mentioned before. Games such as The Legend of Zelda 2: Link no Bouken, Shin Onigashima (Zenpen + Kouhen), Famicom Tanei Kurabu II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shoujo (Zenpen + Kouhen), and SD Gundam World: Scramble Wars are absolutely impossible to find without asking for someone's help. But eventually I found someone who could order those for me and I am thrilled to say the least. Originally back in the summer of this year, I only intended to get Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan). But I thought I had to expand on the collection since I am sure there are much more than 2 classic titles for the FDS. I thought I should get the other classics like The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Kid Icarus. And then I read that Nazo no Murasamejou was very, very good. So eventually I got interested in getting many more titles. If you haven't noticed yet, I base my FDS collection on disk games that were re-released by Nintendo back in 2004 for the 3rd Famicom Mini series adding The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros to the mix. The Legend of Zelda because it was the first and greatest FDS game and Super Mario Bros. for having a special minus world. After doing some research, I eventually realized that the 3rd Famicom Mini series were indeed the AAA titles for the FDS. But it would be next to impossible to find all of them in brand new condition. After months of searching, I am able to have a complete collection for the FDS with everything brand new, previously thought impossible due to the age of the games.
Yeah, I worry about things as de-magnetizing too, but that's what you come to expect to happen after collecting for a certain long amount of time. JC, I think you should go on ahead and go after FDS games aswell. I never really think of the FDS as a seperate system as much as many would...I think of it as an extra accessory/attachment. Actually, I know of people who ONLY collect FDS games...
Man,,, this de-magnetizing issue just forces me to want more
disks... the sooner, the better!
I haven't seen a collection pictures thread, but here's a little pic of the stuff I've been working with lately. I've been doing a lot of work learning about writing/dumping FDS disks. Here's what's on my desk currently, with my newest arrival--an almost new Famicom A/V in box! Do a "view image" to see a larger pic.

Here's a pic of my floor in front of my TV, with an FDS drive I'm repairing.

Oh my...that's so awesome. :o I need to get me one of those Disk Systems.
I'm pretty much 100% envious..
Wow, pretty much a Famicom nut here.
Hello!
I'm new here, cool to find a dedicated famicom/famicom disk forum!! =)
I have collected for about a year and a half, only buying directly from yahoo japan. I ask the sellers myself using combinations of translationsoftware,
and if sending internationally is possible, I use a middleman that transfer the money for me for a small fee.
Here is my collection of complete famicom carts and discs:
Lots of loose carts:
Boxed stuff:

And.. uuhh, they are all broken.. got them cheap on yahoo japan auctions. I'm going to fix these and sell them locally, I hope =/

Anyone who can help me buy a game doctor? I desperatly need one so I can adjust the driver head speed.. these belts I have are not the exact correct size.
Welcome! and dang awesome collection, man! You've got so many disks! :) -- I think you've got it right...Yahoo! Japan is the place to go to get stuff for cheap. I've been buying from there for a couple of months.
yeah man awesome collection! You should post some more photos in the "show your stash" thread! I see a 3D Glasses box in your stash as well! And is that a Miracle keyboard?
vealchop:
Yep, 3d glasses there. =) I have nearly all compatible games for it.
But when I finally plugged the 3dglasses in I was a bit dissapointed. The technology is crap! ;D
When sprites are too far away they split in two.
Nope, its not a miracle keyboard. This version is a keyboard that Konami produced. =)
*Is jealous of Rockard's collection*
That is a sweet collection. *very jealous**
Wow, I am amazed with the quality and quantity of Rockard's collection. I can see that a lot of the games are new and for collection display. I am jealous. So, Rockard, do you play any of the loose carts or are they just sitting there?
MAN, I never thought my collection would create this thick fog of jealiousness!
Very sorry! :-\ ;)
Anyway, I have worked quite a lot to get the collection as nice as it is, especially with the famicom discs. I usually bought big lots, and sold of the dublettes locally and got back the money and usually more. Before I sold them off, I cleaned everything and saved the best conditioned parts of the games for myself. A LOT of work, but in the end I'm happy I managed to be as picky as I was. Now everything is nice and shiny. =) If I bought my collection on ebay I would be on the street now. =P
While my collection is nice, to be able to play my games is ALWAYS top priority.
Actually, I have opened maybe 2-3 unopened famicom disk games.. :-X *hides*
About the loose carts: The first deal was an auction with >100 carts. about 25% were baseball games, and another 25% were crappy or unplayable games, but the rest were ok. Lot of dirty work cleaning them all up. There are often this type of auctions on yahoo, but usually there are loads of crappy games in them also.
This is what I want the most for my famicomdiskcollection: HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/Disk-Writer-Game-Case-New-Famicom-Disk-System-nes_W0QQitemZ280049144546QQihZ018QQcategoryZ4315QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Sooo coool.. no, I don't have it.. its rare on yahoo japan also.. =(
I have been working on a complete list of famicom disk system games for some time. It is not ready, but maybe the siteowner wants it to make a better list for the site. I am documenting the code (for exampel FMC-PTM for palutenas mirror aka kid icarus) for the games, the japanese characters for it, and the english translation. Reason for this is so that you easily can look up the name of the game, and can search for it on yahoo japan auctions. =]
Dang! That list would be awesome. Our disk list is really lacking. I do want to add the codes to all the games on both the carts and disks list we've got, so those would be cool to have as well. :)
And as for that Disk Writer case...PM featherpluck and see if he'll give you a deal or find you one for cheap. He usually doesn't mind helping out forum members.
On loose carts...I've found some great deals on eBay, believe it or not. They're out there, but you've just got to know where to look, I guess.
That is a pretty sweet FDS collection. Since there seems to be a lot of interest, I'll try to get a few extra Famicom Game Doctors.
I just got this in, it's a Dubbing Boy (technically a Dubbing Boy II) that was a mass produced accessory to copy FDS disks. This board is missing the power connector, I've got to figure out how to wire it up to a +5 and then it should be in working order. It's an analog copy device, so I'll never use it but it's cool to have anyhow. Sorry for the flash spot, I was too lazy to drag out proper lighting.
On the left you plug it into the FDS system that will write the disk, on the right you plug in the system to read from. The switch at the top says TEST and COPY. You use the blue pot next to the LEDs to sync up the drive speed between the two motors in TEST mode. Then you flip it to copy, hit the switch in the upper right and away you go!
Sweet! Just hookup a 9v adapter to a 7805 Voltage regulator and you will be set.

Cool looking famiclone.
I think i should post here, not in the main forum, sorry :p
Hi to all! Well I've post 3 or 4 times before, but this is my official presentation
I live in Spain, I play and collect videogames, and Famicom is one of my favourites (if not The) since I travelled to japan this past year. The travel was a birthday present from my girlfriend (god that's a fucking good present!) for knowing the city and at the same time hunt some games and freaky things, mostly Neo Geo games, but something strange happened when I visited Akihabara and Superpotato: I don't know why but those japanese dudes turned me mad about the little Fami. I can say I found my roots in videogaming.
Since then, I've start collecting Famicom like a berserk, here are my pics. they are not so good but enough to take a nice look:
(http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/8889/dsc01854cl7.th.jpg) (http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01854cl7.jpg) (http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/3084/dsc01855ol7.th.jpg) (http://img386.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01855ol7.jpg) (http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/6655/dsc01857xi0.th.jpg) (http://img397.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01857xi0.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/3083/dsc01858xq6.th.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01858xq6.jpg)
(http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/8250/dsc01860jn3.th.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01860jn3.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7162/dsc01861rg1.th.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01861rg1.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/3360/dsc01862sn6.th.jpg) (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01862sn6.jpg) (http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/6893/dsc01863qo8.th.jpg) (http://img386.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01863qo8.jpg)
Well, some games are flying to my home now, I already have several systems: sharp twin famicom, 3 original famicom, 1 new famicom, everything complete.
My jewel? I think Snow Bros, in Akihabara was the non grail more expensive. BTW I want to complete the collection with everygame released officially, but I don't know any list of them. I hope now that I've found this web the work will be much more easy.
Thanks for supporting the Famicom. Long live to retrogaming!
Very nice collection!
Updated.
I just landed a Famicom Disk System, a Famicom Light Gun, a Famicom Network System and controller, and a Famicom Data Recorder, amoung other things.
sweet! all together in one lot?

Yes. Would you like a photo of everything in that lot?
did you get a good deal?

did you get a good deal?
Nintendo Famicom Data Recorder-------$54.05USD
Famicom DISK System AC Adapter-------$18.02USD
Famicom DISK System with ROM---------$31.53USD
Famicom Network System------------------$27.03USD
Famicom Network controller----------------$10.81USD
Famicom Light Gun----------------------------$89.19USD
Very cool!
Well, now I have just one thing: a Game Stick (Playersvision in Brazil and Kenkoo System in somewhere else). This is a joystick with 76 games (some of them hacked or repeated). It has NO cartridge slot, NO second player joystick and NO lightgun, so I can't use the lightgun games that are included with the system! It couldn't be used with AC, so I have to stick with batteries. Homewer, they lasted until today. If somebody asks, i'll post the game list. I just don't wanna paste here uselless text. Bye! :D
Wow, that sounds like the crappiest famiclone in a joystick ever. I got one for free from a buddy, it's the N64 style one, has a Famicom slot (useless to 99% of America) and has a port to plug in a gun.
Well, at least it have some of my fav game:
-Galaza (Galaga)
-Circus Chablie/Toy Story II (Circus Charlie)
-Antartic (Antartic Adventure)
-Arkonoid (Arkanoid)
-Ninja I (Ninja-Kun Majou No Bouken)
-Bird Week (I discovered it here!)
-Sqoon (Idem)
-Contra
-Hogan's Alley (Unusefull)
-Magic Jewelry
-Road Fighter
-Sky Destroyer
-Kitty (Dig Dug)
-Tank 90/Fast Tank (Battle City)
Now the worst:
-Small Mary (Xiao Ma Li)
-Five Chess (Gomoku Narabe)
-Clay Shoot (Inusable Duck Hunt game)
-Star Turtles/Turtles I (Donkey Kong Jr. hack with just one life)
-Teletubbies (Mario Bros. hack... yuuuk!)
-Pokemon (Milk & Nuts hack... yuuuk again!)
It does NOT have Galaxian, The Goonies, City Connection or King Of Ghost (Chubby Cherub's Japanese version). What a shame, but still a good deal for 35 argentinian pesos (10 dollars)... It's the cheapest Famicom you'll find around here. I saw also a Power Joy at... 30 dollars? What a rob!
I have around 30 other platforms I collect for, so I doubt I'll ever have as much of an awesome Famicom collection as alot of the ones seen in this thread, but here's what I have so far, and some stuff I'm waiting on to arrive...

1 Famicom (Non-working)
1 AV Famicom

Well, yes, the Fmicom is still kicking around here, but the 100% of the stuff you'll fund is pirate. I also have a normal Famicom. Nothing special to say, it has 2 slim controllers, a gun and a cart with "1000000 games in 1", when in fact it only has Super Mario Bros., Galaxian, Fifa Soccer (Soccer), Olympic 2000 (Track & Field), Duck Hunt, Clay Shooting, Fancy Mario (Dream Mary) and Moon Mario.
I promised a pic of systems, there you go.

Thanks ;)
Not ever, but isn't so hard to find, In the last week I saw one boxed at Akihabara. 20.000 yens. Not a bad price. The people think taht Akihabara is the best place for gamers but i think if u search in the used shops around Tokyo u can find a lot of things, specially Famicom related. Except 賞品(Shouhin), the special editions, prizes, etc. ;)
What about Osaka? Have you ever shopped there? I've heard some good things about the shops around there.

The truth is any place you go here, you can find a good small used shop. I've been in a lot of different places here, looking for some "lost treasures", and I think the best place to find what (not talking about the prices)you want is the yahoo auctions.
Osaka is a very good place to find retrogames, like Tokyo. Like in Tokyo, in Osaka they have a shop called Super Potato(I really dont like that shop, too expensive) that you can find almost anything.
But I prefer to go out and explore the city ;)
Man my collection looks like crap now. :-[ compared with the brazilian friend :(
If you think that's crazy, don't look at mundocombo's pics. :o
I might be owning a AV Famicom like in a month
No problem. Post away.

Would anyone be upset if I posted my VG collection as a whole? Including non-fami stuff? Don't wanna throw off the thread or anything :-[
Oh I posted all my stuff, including non-famicom stuff. But I think there's no problem. I need pics.
Famicom things I own:
Systems:
Chinese Famiclone called the Family TV Game. It is designed to look identical to the 1983 Famicom, but features AV output and turbo buttons for both controllers. Player 2 controller lacks the microphone as well as Start and Select buttons. It works with all Famicom games I've tried but is ultimitely a Famiclone so I dont use it much.
1983 Famicom
1983 Famicom modded with AV output
1992 AV Famicom
1986 Famicom Disk System with its original disk belt
Accessories:
Hudson Turbo Controller
Famicom Joystick (kinda like the NES Advantage just smaller and with less features)
2 AV Famicom Dogbone controllers
2 Famicomt-to-NES Adaptors (in case one decides not to co-operate)
Games:
42 Famicom games and 10 Famicom Disk System games (i'll spare you guys a list for the sake of one really longggggggg post, but if you guys want to know what I've got I've post them sepretely)
NES things I own:
Systems:
3 Toaster NES units,
one is my original from my childhood
one is a new one (well, one that has a new 72pin connector anyway)
one doesn't work, (but hey what doyou expect when you garbage pick ;))
Yobo FC Game Console Famiclone that accepts US carts and needs an adaptor to run Famicom games. It's actually pretty cool because its small, it accepts actual NES controllers and plays 98% of NES games (the only game I've come across that doesn't work is US Casltevania 3)
Accessories:
About seventeen thosard NES controllers. Seriously I've picked up so many over the years I'm not sure how many I have anymore!
Two NES MAX controllers
One NES 2 Dogbone controller
One PowerGlove with the sensor reciever thing (ITS SO BAD!!)
One NES Advantage (still the ultimite controller ever made if I do say so)
Games:
95 NES games (again I'll spare a list for sake of post length)
Thats everything I think. I can post pics for you guys if you want.
Cheers.
I'd love to see pics to get jealous about. ;)
Nice collection. 8)

you've a Sega Mark III. Item impossible for a lot of people. I'm jealous.
What Famicom stuff do I own?
Hum... nothing... Just a NES and around 15-20 games...
But I have the original grey Zapper, which is money, since the orange one sucks asses.
It's funny how in Japan they can get away with real-life-looking revolvers & machine guns & we can't even have a grey 'zapper' without having it go cheesy(er).
Yep! Toy guns look too much like REAL gun? Let's make 'em bright orange!
Real guns kill people? Let's continue to sell 'em!!! ::)
The reason why the Zappers were changed was because in 1987 a bill was passed in America dictating that any and all toy guns cannot be colored as such. Even still, what kind of gun looks even remotely similar to the gray zapper? Maybe if the bill said something about toy guns cannot resemble sci-fi ray-pistols I could understand!
Just so I don't make another thread about this (sorry this is out of topic) but is sweet home for 20bucks a good deal? loose cart that is.
maybe maybe not

Cart-only for $20 isn't the worst you can do, but I'd say $10-15 is more like it, from what I've seen. Of course, if you're patient enough and get it in a lot, you could pay a low as $2.
I have a Pirate version of Super Mario Bros. for the Famicom, I don't know if it's the Japanese Version or the US version..The Game Genie codes for the US version works on the Famicom Version..Any Help
I believe the SMBs are the same. It's the SMB2s that are different.
Yea, I don't know of any differences I've seen between the two either. I suppose one could compare the ROM dumps of both to truly find out.
Well I can't find out now
"This rom is not available for download. It is protected by the ESA"
But by the ROM it says Super Mario Bros. (JU)
JU= Japan/US (no differences)
I thought it would be the Famicom Disk Version...But I don't know if they Pirate that game because it's on cart anyways
First message on this board, found it while surfing the net.
I have been putting together a museum collection of Famicom (and other Nintendo items) and this is my Famicom specific list so far:
All in never used/brand new condition unless stated otherwise.
1x Famicom console (square buttons)
2x Famicom console (round buttons)
1x Famicom/Sharp Twin
1x Famicom/Sharp Twin (used)
5x Famicom R.O.B. units
5x Famicom StackUp units
5x Famicom Gyromite units
1x Famicom BASIC set
1x Famicom Disc System
1x Famicom 3D glasses
That's it for the Famicom gear. Will be looking for more soon enough. Gotta take reception of the NWC 1990 gold cart for now :P
Welcome, and cool, dude. I hope you stick around and post. Sounds like you've got some great stuff already. It'll be interesting to see if you can get a full collection of new CIB stuff. And I'd love to see you get a gold NWC. I'll be sticking with a repro of it.
I updated my page, almost accurate: HERE (http://www.famicomworld.com/Personal/JC/NES.htm).

Your collection is exquisite!! I love it!
Yeah, makes me feel a bit jealous.
I need a well-paid job soon. :-[
Thanks guys. Takes some time and connections to get stuff, but it happens. I guess it also takes money, but I've never had much money. I just don't spend money on anything but basic bills and Famicom.
I'm jealous of that, too. :-[
Aside from basic bills and Famicom I buy games for about a dozen other platforms and I have lots of other money-consuming hobbies. Books, DVDs, CDs, manga, cinema, flight tickets and all that stuff. I guess it would be nice to have one hobby to concentrate on. :-\

XD
Oh, man, your collection is cool! 8)
The fact that I haven't actually updated my stuff since MARCH is embarassing...can't wait until I have enough cash to buy stuff.
Hi there, Famicom's Family!
After long months of absence, The Prophet is back!
Wow!
Your collection is FAT, Jerah!
Mine is growing up slowly, because I'm trying hard
to spent less money on collecting and more time
in playing!
One of my last acquisitions was New Ghostbusters 2!
Welcome back, man. We were wondering where you had gone. I hope you don't disappear for again.
Just bought all six Rockman games for the Famicom! Though techincally a waste of money seeing as how I already have all six for the NES and have Megaman Anniversary Collection for PS2...but still is nice to have the japanese originals.
Seeing as I only just recently got my famicom, I only have like 3 games :D . Fainaru Fantaji 1 and 2 (not the compilation), and Fighting Golf.
1983 Famicom
Super Mario Bros.
Getsu Fuuma Den
Parodius Da!
Star Soldier
Ganbare Goemon
Majou Desentsu II
Gradius II
Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti
Ahhh, I love Splatterhouse! I need to get it! Anyway, I just got Mother! I love it, you fight hippies ;D
Ganbare Goemon is on my list. :)
ganbare goemon is the best series ever

Is that a repro? If so, nice repro. ;D
The title design is so simple and yet so good, with the red background. Classic.
Either a repro or a proto, and I'd place my money -- all of it -- on repro. ;) And I agree that it's a nice label, preserving the simplicity of the Mother box/label design. I would have spaced down the title so it was just above center, though.
Did you make that yourself satoshi, or get it from a repro site?

Game Reproductions right? That is where I got my Recca from.
nesreproductions. Made it out of a Shadowgate cart. Never liked Shadowgate much anyway, and espically not against the likes of almighty Mother. I did have a hand in designing the cover though. The reason it's so high is because most NES labels are like that. I wanted to cature that feeling as if it were really a real cart. I'm still not entirely positive if I should have put "Zero" somewhere on it since the US release of Mother 2 is also called Earthbound. But I suppose more accurite thing to do is to go with a magic marker and write "2" on the SNES cart than change this to anything in particular.
I just bought Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2 today! That will be the first my import RPG.
I also bought Valkyrie no Bouken and the Famicom version of Star Force too.
Nintega, beofore I sell anything on ebay, check out what I've got for sale here first. I would much rather strike a sale with a community member than an outside random.

Cool thanks for the info.
Upgrade in my collection of Famicom cartridges ;)
The non CIB games is almost to trade - for NES or Master System. I started to take pics one by one, but it has taking to much time, so I decide to put some carts in just one pic.

Cool. :) My collection started very slow. That's a good thing, because when you're new to Famicom collecting, you don't want to overpay due to your lack of pricing knowledge. There's a lot of inexpensive Famicom stuff out there if you're patient.
the collections if you're a collector only can grow. I knew people with a few of carts and at the end of the year they had hundreds of them.
After Im done collecting US Nintendo NES games and consoles the next set is collecting old Famicom games and consoles, I already has some from the early 80s in NY but now Im starting to get more games that Nintendo made I can now start off what I been waiting for over 20 years! "Hey better late then NEVER"
I first started back in 86 where I found some Famicom game and systems in NYC China town and here some image of them,
(http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/9522/famicom024lvmi9.th.jpg) (http://img67.imageshack.us/my.php?image=famicom024lvmi9.jpg) (http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/4010/famicom038ragn4.th.jpg) (http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=famicom038ragn4.jpg) (http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/7660/famicom042tjwo1.th.jpg) (http://img67.imageshack.us/my.php?image=famicom042tjwo1.jpg)
You can see this one can play on US TV set on my old Commadore monitor.
I displayed my first Famicom with the rest of my fave consoles I collect from Atari, Nintedno and Sega see if you can fine the small Fami^_^
(http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/8584/myminigameroom1pbvr5.th.jpg) (http://img67.imageshack.us/my.php?image=myminigameroom1pbvr5.jpg)
Then last year a friend of my from Japan got me some more Famicom game and units for my birthday gifts from carts and for the first time Famicom AV complet in box and two pads, Faimcom Disk Drive and disk games,

I have a red on black Twin Famicom which I bought on eBay as a replacement for both my Famicom and FDS. As for games, I have F-1 Race, Gradius II, Cocoron, Tetris, Parodius, Challenger, Exed Eyes, Boku Dracula-Kun and Twinbee.
Very nice games, 2A03!
Every time I read something or some edition of CGE
at the Retrogamers Roundtable at DigitPress my
dream of being there increased...
If you have some pics, would you send to me?
I've got a Famicom (HVC-001) and a copy of Mario 2. That was all I really wanted, I'm more into having the console itself than the games for it.
Oh, trust me. If you like 8-bit gaming, you're going to discover that the Famicom has some exclusive games you have got to play.
Yeah? Care to throw any names my way?
I'm a bit tight on cash at the moment (That first tuition payment was a slap into reality) but I will keep them in mind for any future forays into the junk shops and eBay.

Ebay rarely has lots of Famicom games, and Yahoo Japan looks kind of complicated, so I was wondering where could be another great site to buy games. :)

Let's see.. I have:
--Hardware--
-- Famicom Console (Round Button)
-- Famicom Disk System
--Software (Cart)--
--Yume Penguin Monogatari
--Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti
--Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-Kun
--Software (Disk)--
--Metroid
This isn't much (yet) but I just started my Famicom collection about 3 weeks ago.
For collecting for only three weeks, you've managed to pick up three of the best carts. Did you plan that? Or did you just get lucky?

Actually I didn't plan that.
I've always wanted a Famicom and a Famicom Disk System for one reason: Metroid. I've always been a Metroid fan, and to have Metroid on Famicom disk makes my day so much.
After that, I decided that the Famicom was indeed a pretty sweet system and I needed more games. I've played it more in the last 3 weeks than I have played my X-Box 360 in the last 2 months. I went to the best import video game store in Seattle, Pink Godzilla, and asked for some recommendations.
3 hours of playtesting later I ended up buying Yume Penguin Monogatari. For those of you who haven't had a chance to play that game, it's SWEET. Basically you get to be Richard Simmons to an overweight penguin whose girlfriend left him because he won't stop eating. Just classic. (I'd love to write a review of it someday. ;D)
I came back the following Saturday to get some more recommendations and ended up walking out several hours later with Splatterhouse and Akumajou Special. VERY sweet games.
Oddly enough I can't figure out how to get sound to play for Akumajou Special.. the Famicom is in top condition and I'm using all official equipment. All other games put sound out just fine. Akumajou Special just doesn't seem to want to. Any suggestions?
Also, any recommendations for your "Top 10 Famicom Carts" would be awesome, though I'm sure such a list is elsewhere on the boards.
For your soundless game, check the cart edge connector. The Famicom sound passes through the cartridge and back into the system, that's how games can have special sound hardware. Something is broken along the cart's audio path and that's why there's no sound output at all.

Wow, that worked wonders!
I cleaned the contacts and the audio worked perfectly. Thanks!

Yeah a top 10 recommendations would be great!

Sure I'll give you a list of what I have soon. I'm at school right now so I don't have my stuff with me. BTW anything you are interested in particular? PM
Here are pictures of the games I have so far, which will soon turn into a much bigger lot, as I just won an auction on ebay. The link is at the bottom. :)

Congrats on your new addition. Gotta love that Rockman multi cart
I have the Rockman 6 in 1 with different scan lable:
This is the cart I was outvid on that went for $90. the EXACT cart.
I also have a Famicom to NES converter. I forgot to mention that because I don't ever use it, and kind of forgot about it (I don't have an NES or any NES games.
Here is the lot I got off ebay. I can't seem to get the Famicom to work. It has AV ports and an RF port, but all I get is a blank screen after trying both (Some times pink, some times blue, some times white, etc) I am using my official Super Famicom power cord which I was told works with famicoms as well. As you can see from the pictures, the controls have these weird joystick things attached to the D-Pads, and they are apparently made that way (They don't come off)
Perhaps some people can help me identify the games in this lot.
If you are interested in a certain cart, let me know. I may be open to selling it.
One other thing. For those who were wondering what the cart with the famicom and carts on it was, it is apparently "Pool" (There is a sticker on top that says that)
Any other questions? Just ask.

Yeah contra is a true classic! I still remember the day I beat it without losing a life....great memories.
Mighty Bomb Jack is a pretty fun game. So is Solomon's Key (the 9th one from the top). Enjoy those.
Mighty Bomb Jack was a game from my childhood. I love it. I also remember playing Bucky O'haire(sp?) and would love to have it again!
MaxXimus: That's actually a Famicom clone. It looks authentic, but isn't. Maybe it doesn't use the same kind of ac adapter as a real Famicom. If this is the case, it's busted.
But mostly, it sounds like it has a poor cart connector.
I knew it was a clone, but if it fried, it wouldnt even power up, which it does. Some times it shows a small garble of glitched graphics on the center of the screen but usually its just the blank screen. Can I switch the cart connecter? Or is it molded to the main board?
Wow, it fooled me into thinking it was a real Famicom (but I just looked at the thumbnails ;D)
Before throwing it away, check if the +5V are reaching the CPU board. The regulator usually fries when somebody plugs in an adapter with reverse polarity. Swap with a RF board from another Famiclone if possible.
Im going to be honest with you. I have NO idea what you are talking about. Ill open the system later and post pics.
Just a thought. Do you think it could be outputting a PAL signal? Even though a 110v adapter is what it uses?
I know I'm stating the obvious here, but have you tried cleaning the contacts on the cart and the system?
The carts work on my Yobo(less 2) and how would I go about cleaning the consoles contacts?
You can use alcohol to clean them using swabs or an eraser if you can reach inside.

Yeah, dip a used toothbrush into isopropyl alcohol and scrub the contacts vigorously. Then let dry and scrub a little more with the dry toothbrush till the contacts become shiny again.
Hey I have the exact same Contra famicom pirate cart! ;D

hmmm never tried it with a toothbrush!! I'll try it out.
I opened the system and took some pics of the board and some model numbers. I'll post those tomorrow. Also, the famicoms cart connecter seems to be fused with the board. I was hoping to swap connecters with my yobo, but no luck I guess. Unless there is some screws Im missing or something.

YEAHHH! SOMEONE SELL ME DISK SYSTEM CHEAP PLZZZZZZZZZZ MASTERSSSSSSSSSSS AND FAMICLONE
Haha. I have 2 Famiclones. One doesn't work, or at least I can't figure out how to make it work(It sometimes shows sprites from the game and upsidedown letters and numbers but that's it) and the other is PAL and still being mailed to me.
On a related topic, I got my Famicom from Variety Recycle Nippon today. Works flawlessly! I am excited to be done with my Yobo!
By the way! My Super Mario Bros 2 cart works flawlessly also!
Super Mario Bros 10 came in the mail too. :)

A Famiclone may seem like a cheap gift, unless you include good games and it doesn't look so shabby :P.
Besides, they're not that hard to come by, there's always somebody who imports them. Sometimes I see them in supermarkets and hardware stores. If not, smaller stores, specially the ones which import cheap stuff from China, they'll always have some Famiclone in stock.

Well lets just say where he comes from everything is pirated so I don't think he'll notice the difference lol and all he knows about is pirated carts. He is always like "remember that game that came with all the mario games? That was awesome!" But I'll look around maybe that portable Famicom would be better.
This is less of a collection and more of a list of games I'm actually playing or going to play. Still, I like getting my games CIB.

And a Famicom AV to play 'em all with.
Cool. :D Recca -- jealous. How's Moon Crystal...I've asked people before and never gotten a solid grasp on if it's fun.
I like Moon Crystal. Good graphics, the controls take a bit to get used to if you've never touched Prince of Persia or it's kin. Nice game definitely. I plan on speedrunning it somewhere down the road.
This is the best Famicom Clone i found from China. I also have the originall Famicom with Disk System (not the Twin Famicom)

UUPs sorry my friend, i use Ebay a lot. About the post i just stert in this forum and the picture size is to small.
It's all good bud! I have too many famicoms as it is, haha. It is a very nice looking system though. I use ebay all the time too! There are so many hidden treasures if you look hard enough. :) How is the multi cart?

Haha. I love the electrical tape that's holding on to the pin adapter.
Very ghetto. Still, that's a multi that I've wanted for a while.
I got it for 5 bucks from someone in this forum...I'm pretty sure is the same one with the two mario look alike jumping around I think that's the scene of the disk system intro.
Yup. As I said, I want it. :p
Just bought a FDS in box with manual and new belt for $75, I think its a quite nice deal. Now I only need a AV Famicom to hook it up to.

One is a Y2K 64 in 1 which IMO is one of the best multicarts (based on number of individual games and their quality) and the other was a crappy 500 in 1 which came with a Polystation. I replaced the board inside with a 27 in 1 which I extracted from a dead Genesis-like Famiclone, this 27 in 1 has a pirate original (The Lion King) and some other gems too.
Great collection. I also want an AV Famicom wekekkeke with mario 8

Is the pirated famicom version of Lion King any good?
It's the first SNES game I played.
I think it's based on the code used for a few other ports, such as earth worm jim and the jungle book. Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways, I remember the lion king for the Super Nintendo was a great game, and I'd love to play it again. Was there an SFC release?
Looks like hacked Sega Genesis/SNES Lion King.

The cart has a red LED on it -- for no good reason!
The Famicom itself doesn't have a LED to tell if it's turned on & receiving power, that's a good reason to me.
It seems like a logical reason to me. They could have had it for decoration, but to indicate power seems to be the best answer. :)

Top center.
Oh.
I looked up the wrong game ><
Oh, wow. That's neat. How hard do you suppose it would be to mod a game to have an LED light? Or is that possible?
Sans opening it, easy as heck.
I'd just be worried about causing a short. Would the same be possible with a glob top?
Yes. The only thing you'd have to do is tap +5V and Ground from the cart's edge connector, solder LED and 270 Ohm resistor in series respecting polarity, drilling a hole for it in the cart case, and fixing the LED with some hot glue.
You make it all sound soo simple. :P (sarcasm) Haha.:P

Alright, got to find a working camera, but those will come soon.

Devil World
Namco Star Wars
Pretty weak, but hey it's a start.
Devil World ain't bad...Welcome to the forum! :)
Thanks. Devil World is great just for the offensive content, and I'm a huge Star Wars nerd so I had to have the Star Wars game.
Want offensive content (maybe not)...go for Hitler no Fukkatsu, which is Bionic Commando with Nazi imagery and the real Hitler. Or try out some of the cheap (cheaper than Panesian) cart and disk porn games. (My avatar is Super Pig...maker of many poor 8-bit porn games.) Nintendo really cleaned things up in America.
Hitler no Fukkatsu is on my list of Famicom games to purchase. I'm not at all interested in 8-bit pr0n though haha.
It's boring stuff...you can imagine the extent to which they can take it on such a rudimentary system. There are much better ways to spend your money...at least early on. :)
Yeah I can't imagine the quality, of the porn or the gameplay, to be very good. After playing Custer's Revenge I swore to never play another porn game haha.
Hahaha. I always wanted to buy that one. You know, Soap Panic (Bubble Bath Babes) is actually a really awesome game. Like Tetris, only better, plus porn, though poor. If you get a chance, buy it.
Isn't that one obscenely rare? I doubt I'd ever even find one.
There's a Soap Panic for sale on ebay right now--$74 BIN. I've seen it a few times before for less.
It's not worth more than $30, but you won't get it for less than $60 on eBay.
Oh I was thinking of the NES version, which sells for hundreds.

I got my hands on a Lion King for Famicom, as well as a couple other neat carts. :)
Is it anything like lion king for SNES?
Surprisingly, yes. :O
It even has my favourite level. (the one where you get swung around by monkeys, jump on geraffe heads, and so on. :) Lots of fun in 8 bit glitchy goodness. :D I really want the SNES version to though. Well, only if it came out for the Super Famicom. Does anyone know if it did?
EDIT:
Here is a video of the version of Lion King I have.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=cZTOuZ7qwrk
I have that game too! ;D
On a multicart, and yeah, it rocks!
My multi has lion king, tom and jerry, and tiny toon 1.
Mine's a 27 in 1 that I found inside a blown Genesis-like Famiclone. I need a box for it though, it's just a bare board.
Mine has a label that says Sonic, and it has sonic's sister, or what ever, on it. :P Those piraters are sneaky buggers, haha. :P That's the second time I got a game where the label has so horribly mislead. :P The other one I have says it's street fighter 12p, but it's actually Altered Beast, I think.
Wow! Luckily I've still never been deceived by a pirate cart label (knocks on wood).

Currently at (44) games in my "loose" Famicom collection.
Used to have about a hundred games but I only kept what
I knew I'd continue playing. Now my daughter who just
turned three loves the Sanrio *Hello Kitty* games, and
my son (due New Year's Day) will more than likely be
weened on the goodness of Double Dragon and

As of right now I'm trying to track down either a loose
or boxed cart (in good to mint condition) of the JPN
version of "Codename: Viper" which I understand is
called Dead Fox: Human Weapon on the Famicom.
Like that game even better than Rolling Thunder, hoping
to find it soon. Though I'm pondering over buying a
FAMICOM TWIN system so I can finally own Jackal
and Green Beret on the JPN system... only I dunno
how well the belts on those FDS systems hold up and
I suck at tech stuff. :(
ooh, lets see. in no particular order, and mostly from memory, since a lot of my famicom stuff is in a different town at the moment
original japanese: crisis force (boxed), after burner 2 (boxed w. all original stuff), rockman 4 (boxed), hatris (boxed), gunsight (box + instructions), kirbys adventure, ganbare goemon 1&2, parodius, final lap, rolling thunder, duck hunt
original sachen: hell fighter (box + instructions), 6-in-1 multi (box), q-boy (box + instructions)
pirate: gaiapolis (+box), family kid, 8-in-1 nekketsu multi, two awesome 16-in-1s, super mario family (in non-original case), yuuyuu III, banana prince, ninja turtles 2in1, 4in1 with metal gear/zanac etc, ai senshi nicol fds port (+generic box), ninja cat (cattou ninja teyandee), three-eyes boy (mitsume ga tooru), chip & dale, konami world II (wai wai world 2), 130-in-1 w/pocket monster/robocco wars<3/etc, 64-in-1 Y2K, 64-in-1 w/harrys legend etc, raf world, 84-in-1 no repeats (same contents as the powerjoy one on this site), 12-in-1 with hacked games, shin-chan bokutte upa hack, double dragon 3, life force, and a bunch of other shit i've forgotten about
famiclones: famicom yarou 54 (54 built-in hacked games), neo fami, pocket fami, mega arcade action (w/nes style gun), play + power 1 (broken), power joy, and a few crappy battery powered all-in-one systems full of hacked or really bad original games

:o it's actually squashed? that's the unreleased US version of ninja jajamaru, the rom was released on lost levels a while back but the cart looks like it predates their release... i wonder where they got it from.
I'd be curious to know what a pirated gaiapolis looks like. I think I just bought the original cart -- kind of expensive. And, I've seen lots of NES-exclusives in Famicom pirates...don't know how they got any of them; only a handful of NES games were released as "Asian Version," "Hong Kong Version," and "Korean Version." The strangest seems to be Time Diver Avenger, which is the never-officially-released NES game that somehow made it onto Famicom pirate carts.

gaiapolis is one of the ones i don't have to hand, but it came in a small box with some blurry artwork on the front (i don't know if its taken from the original sachen version, i've never seen it) and some screenshots and text on the back (although the text is in japanese and actually refers to the game "villgust gaiden"). the cart itself is a generic famicom pirate cart in sort of turqoise colour, with the same artwork as the box on the label.
i suppose with the released NES games that were released as famicom pirates, they just imported them from the US or Europe and copied them in famicom format - if they had contacts in those regions it'd be a relatively easy way to get a game that not many people in Taiwan or China or wherever would have seen before.
i am really intrigued by the case of Time Diver and now this Squashed though - maybe they were sold off or stolen or taken home by staff members, much like the various prototypes that ultimately found their way onto the internet in recent years, but in this case they were discovered by a pirate outfit rather than some individual collector.
I finally took pictures of most of my Famicom Collection. I still need to take pics of my Disk Writer stuff, guides, books, systems, accessories. I'll get to it at some point, but my son was screaming!
Check it out here:

ULTRA RARE FAMICOM GUITAR CONTROLLER FOR D-PAD HERO
Also, 133MHz, if you really want a 3D system, they pop up on eBay quite often...in fact, check your PMs
and Eric, I am jealous of your CIB Super Mogura Tataki!! Pokkun Moguraa
hey, ericj, what are those two nifty Famicom looking controllers in your second pic? The ones to the right of Family BASIC. I've never seen those before...
Wireless controllers. The white thing under them is the wireless receiver for them.
ah, ok. I couldn't read the writing on them, thanks.
And what's that thing that's above your black box converter and below your CIB Splatterhouse? It looks like another form of a BBC
It's a Family Converter
What's that? Is it like the opposite of a BBC? Sorry for the /b/ :P
Yeah, it pretty much is the same, except you use it to play NES games on the Fami. I was going to get one, but Rob Webb has a better one on his site that comes with a protective shell.
I need to get one of those, link plz?
Famicom and Mario 8 is more than enough for me....
