Well that console came out before the Sega Genesis and the SNES. It is rarer than the other two consoles because many people didn't know what it was and they just decided to keep their money until the SNES or Sega Genesis came out. Turbo-Grapfx 16 has some really good games on it like the Super Bonk series for example. And for 1$ that is a really great find! Last year I also whent to a garage sale and found one brand new NEVER opened for only 5$ :) And it came packed with a free game. ;D

It isn't very rare, but a game console for 1$ is always a steal. Nice find. :)

Any chances you'd be willing to sell it? I'd actually like to get into the PC Engine  scene.

I owned a TG-16 for about 2 months. It was nice to have, but it was pretty limiting in terms of accessories (plus the fact that I couldn't find a TG-CD by itself), so I sold it and bought a region modded PC Engine Duo. If you do plan to get into the TG-16/PCE scene, I recommend getting a region modded Duo (doesn't matter which, they're all good), as it saves money and space compared to a TG-CD or PCE-CD setup.

for $20-30 through many mail order places.

Google knows.

I would much rather go for a region mod than an adapter. Adapters tend to be on the pricey side, and most of them are of poor quality. This guy performs region mods; I have a region modded PC Engine Duo from him and it works great: http://www.multimods.com (http://www.multimods.com)

Rather than a region mod I'd go for a Japanese PC Engine.  ;)

Of course I do, it's great to get stuff out of systems that weren't there before (like S-video mods, region mods, etc)!

Every now and then on ebay, you will see some TG16/PCEngine adapters, but they are not cheap.  They often go for $100 or more.

HAHA well congrats on your turbo as well. I might be keeping an eye out for one in the future to see what all the fuss is about.
