Title: Zelda question
Post by: satoshi_matrix on January 20, 2008, 05:39:59 pm
becides the medium, is there any difference bwtween the disk version of Zelda 1 and the later Famicom version?

what this breaks down to is several things:

1. does the Famicom cart have battery backup just like the NES cart?
2. do you kill the pollvice with controller 2 mic just like the disk version or is it with the flute?
3. what lanuage is the text in the game? I assume its japanese, but after inspecting Super Mario USA being identical to that of Super Mario Bros. 2 minus the title screen, I'm not sure.

Any help is appriciated.

As far as I remember they are exactly the same.

-famicom version does have battery saving
-don't know about the pols voice, but the flute doesn't kill them in the American version, so I assume the famicom version would either use the microphone or have no easy way to get rid of them
-in both versions, it's a combination japanese/english
-famicom version does not have enhanced sound
-famicom version uses a generic NES font like the American version, whereas the disk version uses a thin, large font
-title screen of disk version has "1" added to the end of the title to distinguish from zelda 2

this reminds me... are there any differences between the disk and famicom versions of Akumajou Dracula? does the famicom version have battery saving?

the famicom version has an easy mode, which makes the game actually playable. your attacks do more damage, enimies do less, and you dont get pushed back into pits by those goddamn madusa heads.

the famicom version of zelda is the same as the disk version, as kris said.

the pols voice are obviously killed with the mic

so the Famicom Zelda 1 is only beatable on the original Famicom and not the AV or NES?
