Title: Famicom's Metal Gear 1987.
Post by: Atariboy on January 29, 2008, 10:54:52 pm
I drew this back in 98 one year after the release of MGS for the old PS1. I LOVE the old Metal Gear game for the old NES and MSX and I still have them in my collection.

On the image you'll see some key Characters,

from Left to right:
Kyle Schneider.
Frank Jaeger (Grey Fox) - the one whos tided up.
Solid Snake.
Jennifer.
Diane.
Big Boss.
Enemy Soldier.
And yes Meat Gear Tank on the backdrop.

As you can see its title Metal Gear 1987 because the very first Metal Gear game was made in 87 for MSX then later NES/Famicom.

I bit of useless information here but did any of you know that the picture of Snake holding the gun was based on a poster of "Corporal Hicks" from the film Aliens.  Snake even looks like Hicks on the picture box art.

yea, I can't see the picture either.  :(

no way, I didn't know it was based on the aliens poster.  you're right he does look like corporal hicks!  (or "reese" from terminator.  whatever happened to that actor?)  speaking of hollywood movie influences on metal gear... did you ever notice the AMAZING similarities between 'escape from new york' and metal gear?  let's see....

the main character's name is "snake"
the main character has a raspy voice
the main character has to infiltrate a small territory and rescue someone
the main character's guns are very similar looking

and there's a lot more too

That poster was actually of Kyle Reese (Terminator) not Corporal Hicks (Aliens) sorry I got confused. Michael Biehn
is a dope actor especially when he plays military roles. He has been in loads of B movies and other TV series appearances. He will have a role in James Cameron's Avatar!!

You are right Milky B about Snake Plisskin, also check Arnie & Sly in Contra:
