Title: Weird SMB Clone for the Atari 8-bit computers
Post by: 133MHz on February 05, 2008, 03:14:55 pm
From my mysterious box of gaming oddities I present you this!:

A Super Mario Bros. clone for the Atari 800! Had it for several years but never paid too much attention to it. It's a very large floppy game (takes almost a minute lo load, and loads between stages). I don't have any more information about it so any info is welcome!

Reminds me very much of the Great Gianna sisters, which by the way was a way better port than this garbage. :P

Yeah the controls are a nightmare, but the digitized sound effects are moot :P. (Even though Mario dying sounds kind of sexual XD)

That's what it reminded me of, since it doesn't scroll.  I'd guess they're unrelated, though, since Special was officially sanctioned and this wasn't.

It was a version of SMB made by Hudson for the NEC PC-88.  (wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros._Special), a review (http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,3449.msg77502.html#msg77502))
