Just because I'm curious... how old is your brother?

I've had some hard drives crash on me in the past, making me lose all my data. Also lots of 'punctured' CDs (they suddenly developed pinhead-sized holes on the data layer rendering them unreadable, like they were eaten by fungi or something).

Did the hard drive have any important data in it? When it comes to storage media I value my data more than the media itself.

A hard drive may be cheap or expensive, but my data is priceless.
