Inspired by the "Favorite Mega Man game thread", I propose the question..
Which series, Castlevania or Mega Man, is your favorite, and why?
I would have to say Castlevania, for myself. Although I am a diehard Mega Man player, Castlevania is slightly more innovative and has some really nice boss battles. The weakest points have to be the PS2 games (and that one N64 game Legacy of Darkness) which were released. Castlevania shines as a 2D game, and Symphony of the Night will long be remembered by players as one of the best Castlevania games, period. The DS games aren't too shabby, either.
I would say Castlevania, but why not both? I think they each have their own uniquenesses. My reasoning for Castlevania is purely based upon the nostalgia factor. 3 year old kid playing Castlevania? Geez, my parents REALLY payed atention to the ESRB.
Oh I love both series don't get me wrong. In the end, everyone has a preference whether based on nostalgia or just being a diehard player. I just like seeing where everyone is "comin from", hah!
Like Will Ferrell impersonating Harry Caray.."I'm curious like a cat!"
Castlevania, hands down. I've never been a huge Megaman fan for some reason.
Castlevania easy. Megman seems very hit or miss, 1-4 were great and even up to X2 were good games, but then the series dropped off. Castlevania still has quality games comming out.
Castlevania kept their quality up while Megaman kept being so repetitive. I rather play the new castlevanias and old megamans though
I agree. I like to play current Castlevania and play older Mega Man games as well... very good point. I still think Castlevania really had opened up their replay value starting with SOTN and then when the Gameboy and DS versions came out...(although Portrait of Ruin was ridiculously easier than the others, and I can't convince myself to play it again for quite a while).
