EDIT: (5/21/2010) The site has had a ton of updates over the last month or so.  I now have over 120 handbills scanned in for your viewing pleasure and more to come soon.  Let me know what you all think!

EDIT: (8/25/2010) Added 5-6 more handbills.

Hey, has anyone seen a Gimmick or hebereke handbill / poster advertizement? I'm starting to collect handbills and these are two of my favorite famicom games, any info would be great.

I've never seen handbills for either. There was a Hebereke handkerchief they used to promote the game. I almost bought one for $3 a couple months ago.

Ah, Carl...he totally abandoned this list. I blame the birth. >:( :)

This might be partly to blame, too: http://famicom.chu.jp/top.html

That site isn't anywhere near complete to what I have seen, I just haven't had a ton of time to update this lately.

JC is correct though, my newborn son takes up a good bit of time.

I'll get around to it soon enough.

Thanks,
Carl

http://www.disk-kun.com/

To start, it will have FC/FDS Handbills.  Later on I may add Disk Writer manuals and Konami Cards.

This is still a work in progress and still has a ton more work to be done.  More content to be added and final functionality/layout of the site may change.

I wanted to see what you all thought of it so far!?

Thanks,
Carl

My thoughts on this is that it is awesome! I always wanted a site to view handbills on. Having all of the Konami cards on there will also be cool. =D

turbo D -- Thanks!

133MHZ -- Sorry, no HQ scans in the fear that people will reproduce them thus significantly reducing their value.

Nice, man. Since you've got all the good ones, makes sense to have a site for them.

The scans look so clean and nice, how do you do that? Expensive scanner?

You can do wonders with a cheap/midrange scanner and some clever image manipulation in software ;).

I need more experience.
My scans always come out *meh*.  :-\

My advice for quality scans is to import your scans into your image editing software and adjust the levels. You'd be surprised what a small level adjustment can do for a scan or photo.

Got it when GoDaddy had a $1 domain special last year. :)

Also, thanks for the kind words guys.  Lots of time has been spent on the scans and there is still more work to be done.

This is great!  Awsome job!

One quick question...can you make out what the Mario 3 object is at the bottom of the Kaettekita Mario Bros handbill?  Did some amateur translation of the game a while back and it mentioned a Mario 3 "Cassette" as one of the prizes...wondering if that's it or not.

Keep up the good work!  Can't wait to see more!

Famicom cartridges are sometimes referred to as cassettes.

It's nothing more than an advertisement for the "upcoming" release of SMB3.  There are even ads in game about SMB3.

Hope that helps.

Nice site, I think it would help though if (when you click on a poster for more details) the back button goes back to the page number you were on, it goes back 2 steps if that makes sense.  Great site though, already better than gamengai I reckon.

I'll work on that L__E__T.  (EDIT: Fixed!  You should now return to the page you were previously viewing.  Downside, it isn't as smooth due to AJAX being turned off)

For now, I've changed the "preview" icons in the page view.  Instead of tiny, tiny scans of the handbills they are snippets from the actual handbill.  Let me know what you all think of that?!

Thanks,
Carl

Breaking news and necropost - there IS a handbill of sorts, for Gimmick! Hebereke and Trip World, I have just received it.  I'll take some decent pics later for you and post them here.  It was a complete surprise.

I forgot about this - it's less a handbill of sorts and more an insert, but I will try and find it to get it scanned.  There are some pics a way back on my Instagram page.
