I'm looking something like Final Fantasy style RPGs or Dragon Quest style RPGs...of course Zelda style RPGs are also welcomed. I played the Ultima series already and many of the most popular ones. I want to play some obscure games that were made by fans. Well just tell me what you know!! Thanks in advance!
You should probably try Fallout.
Thanks I'll check that one out.
There are tons of rpg maker games of varying quality. I liked The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone and the Laxius Power trilogy among others. Each of the games in the Laxius Power trilogy are full length rpg games. If I remember correctly, the first one's really long and the other two are 20-30 hours each.
Pool of Radiance, hands down. The NES version was an awesome port of it, but gets criticized (with good reason) for its meek graphics. Don't forget the classic Eye of the Beholder series.
Thanks for the info. I need to have RPG maker installed to play them right?
You can actually play games meant for Windows 95 and prior with a little fine-tuning. Took me awhile to figure it out, but it's not hard. You just lead to load dxdiag in RUN and adjust the speed of certain things. Ultima was released in a compliation about three years ago and you can play them all in Windows just fine.

It's been years, but I thought that most of the games I played came with everything they needed. I think I got at least laxius power from the-underdogs.info. You can find tons of supposively "abandonware" and freeware games there. The site hasn't been updated in a few years now, but I think the games still download.
