I'm gonna say it's Relics: Ankoku Yousai. And I haven't played that many FDS games.

But why am I sure it's Relics? You really ought to try the first level: your character wears a red spacesuit; diagonal jumping is rigid; to turn around, you have to press up and then the opposite direction; you have to crouch and poke your first enemy to death with some type of red rod; you can't climb worth crap, looks like he's dancing up the vines; and every few steps the game stops to load -- I'm not joking. And if you die once -- which isn't hard to do -- the game makes you flip to Side A to see the Continue screen and then flip back to Side B to start playing again. Oh, and you don't actually die; the game says: "You lost your body."

The only cool feature: If you jab some walls with your red rod, they disintegrate to reveal stuff.

I so want to review this for the site...

Have you ever played Fire Bam? I think I had to flip the disk from Side B to Side A back & forth over a dozen times on the first level. It was so frustrating that I quit playing it. Although the game itself is fun. I'd love to find it on a cart.  :P

Hmm...I'm gonna have to try Fire Bam. I think I've got a pirate of it.

Transformers is also terrible FDS/cart game. Kamen Rider Black is also pretty bad.

Relics is almost unplayable. I'd say its one of the worst games I've ever played.

I agree Kamen Rider Black is pretty bad. Any game where up is kick or jump or anything like that is pretty bad in my opinion. New to the forum but lovin' it so far.

Rush'n Attack (Green Beret) used Up to jump... & that's probably where it went wrong. ::)

I wouldn't rag on anyone if they said Super Mario Bros. 2 - that was more of a Luigi game...

Definitely Aspic for me. Ugly, frustrating, repetitive... just doesn't even start to describe it.

I'm tied between Cocona World (Sluggish, ugly, and... how in the hell do you even play it?) and Deep Dungeon (Looks like a decent dungeon crawler, until you realize the programmers probably never even finished making the game, what with options that do nothing, broken damage system, and the start button having no function other than to somewhat mute the awful music).

And on Relics, I've played it before and it's pretty bad. It's not as bad as it's MSX brother, though (and wouldn't you believe it's actually on the iPhone/iPod Touch app store for $5?)

By the way, just so everyone knows - when I was browsing through the list of FDS games, I came across Dirty Pair, wondering if it was a Hentai game.

I have the Dirty Pair: Project Eden FDS game, and it's not that bad. It's clunky and awkward like many early Famicom games, but it's not unplayable, I can get through the first 2-3 levels without dying.

And the anime series is great, especially the Project Eden movie, but the two movie OVA's are good, plus the OVA series. The television show is finally getting released on DVD in the U.S. thanks to Rightstuf.

I instantly started getting interested in this series. I mean, two hot, genetically upgraded girls who's missions they accomplish always end up in catastrophe (not necessarily  being their fault :P).

So what would you recommend first? The animé series? The movies?

Is Fatal but not Serious only a manga? The whole plot of that seems wicked!

I think the worst game is that Titanic title where the girl is in a red swimsuit and you really have no clue what to do...please let me know if I am wrong, but why a game out of the Titanic?

Check out Project Eden, the only theatrical film, first. the animation is beautiful, some of the best animation out of Japan in the 80's, the colors just POP. Then watch 005 Conspiracy and Affair on Nolandia, the two one-shot OAV's. Then watch the television show, then the later OAV's (you'll know it's the later OAV series because Kei and Yuri both wear silver.)

The comics, including Fatal But Not Serious, are technically NOT manga at all, because they were written and drawn by US artist Adam Warren! The US Dirty Pair comics are fun, but they have no connection to the official Dirty Pair universe in Japan, which originally started with the novels written by Haruka Takachiho.

P.S. Stay away from Dirty Pair Flash. It takes everything fun about Dirty Pair and 90's it up in the worst way possible.

I was expecting either order of release or chronological order of events.

Anyways, I'm watching everything in order of release.  I already saw 24 out of the 26 animé episodes.  I'll watch Affair on Nolandia next, then the final two episodes.

THEN I'll watch Project Eden, thank you. ;)

Points go out for Super Mario no Sweater, in case you ever want to learn how to cross-stitch on your FDS, and to most of the Nazolerland series disks.

As to SMB2, I can't like that game more; mostly because of Luigi and the different mechanics involved. Sure, it's harder, but not impossible, and that's rather the point 'For Super Players'. :bomb:

If you know how to play it, then it's not that bad. Not exactly the most exciting game in the world, but it is about 400 times better than Transformers: The Headmasters on the FDS.

No I think it is a mahjong type of game.

Mahjong uses tiles, not cards though. It could be some cardgame like hanafuda maybe? You can check if they look like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanafuda

Thanks. I appreciate it. I still do not play this game though. It was thrown in as a bonus game when I purchased my twin.

On second thought, it could be hard to tell the difference between tiles and cards if you only see a 2D face of it...

That seems to be the FDS port of Mahjong that Nintendo first released on cartridge.
