I'm combing my way through the FDS library, and trying to get a sense of what highlights I should be looking out for. I'm particularly interested in FDS-only games (though since I know very little Japanese, certain titles will of course be unplayable for me).
Has anyone compiled a list that has some combination of:
-- a list of the games that are FDS-only (no Famicom/NES carts), but were ported to other systems?
-- a list of the games that are unique to the FDS, with no cart releases or ports to other systems?
-- a list of the games that were unique to the FDS, until pirates released a Famicom or NES cart version?
I'm also trying to figure out which FDS releases have significant gameplay changes vs. the Famicom/NES cart versions -- in other words, more than just the addition (or subtraction!) of a save system, and/or the additional sound channel. Extra levels, alternate endings, things like that. I do know about a few of them, i.e. the minus world in Mario. Has anyone made a systematic list?
Thanks for your help!
This should help: http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=2350.0
We don't have everything, but we'd love to try to compile lists to reflect the info you're requesting.
Thanks, I had checked that page out previously, and it was helpful. One of the reasons I posted was to make sure that I wasn't overlooking something on Famicomworld!
