There are two different vaus controllers (black and red, and Blue and light blue) for use with arkanoid I and arkanoid II.
can the controllers be switched? Like and the black and red one be used with arkanoid II and vice versa? or do the controllers only work with the games they came with?
I want to know if I could get one controller and use it for both games.
Thanks!
I'd guess it doesn't matter, that they'd be compatible. I still don't have either controller, though I've got both games. :-\
Ok, thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just have to experiment. :P
I've found they they are both compatible with both Famicom games. The only problem I've run across is that the blue & black Famicom vaus controllers don't work with the original NES Arkanoid game when it's hooked up to a Famicom via a 72-60 pin cartridge connector. I don't have Arkanoid II for the NES to see if it has a similar problem. So, I'm not sure if it's the Famicom vaus that is the problem or the NES game.

None of the Vaus controllers work with NES Arkanoid II.
(There is no NES Arkanoid II.)

Guess that's why I don't have it. :P
Here I go resurrecting an old thread.
I picked up an Arkanoid II controller at a junk shop for 100 yen the other day. It works on both Arkanoids (and Chase H.Q.).
I've got a picture of it here:

Bumping to not open another topic:
As I don't have the original Arkanoid cartridge, I wonder if you can actually control this game without the special controller. Can you give me an answer?
(I do have Arkanoid on many chinese multicarts, but that one is probably hacked)
yes, you can control arkanoid with pad
It works much better with the controller though. It moves too slow with the pad.
Problem with controller, it is usually worn down. Suppose it could be fixed same way as microphone. If that always works?

Not as mic, but it can be fixed easily(no fine calibration needed) :)
I have a special liquid (something electrolytic) for these kind of trimmers (potentiometers). Adding one drop to that "turning knob" will make it work like new again.
You should say "Magic Liquid" :)
Is it possible to use something generic, like acetone?

Don't sniff solvents. It's not good for brain :)
Honestly you gotta love the crap that 80sFreak says... Haha that was so random...
I just bought arkanoid not long ago. Hopefully the controller is okay.

Stop being sarcastic when you don't have an answer.
Don't use acetone! Try to find something in your local electronics shop, do a google search on "contact cleaning spray"
Oh I heard of some spray like that. It was called CRC 2-26 and it's used to lubricate and clean metal parts of electronics and it keeps out moisture to prevent corrosion and oxidation. It's said to be great on joysticks but I don't know if it's OK to use on this.

QuoteRestores resistance values and helps stop current leakage
Should be just the thing!
