1up has a great three-part interview with Hidenori Maezawa, who helped or composed music on a bunch of Konami's Famicom games. It's a great read and has insight as to how Konami used to work back in the Famicom days.

This whole series and the MSX (gasp!) sections are truly something! Thanks for the tip ;)
Really cool stuff, he is responsible for some of my favorite video game music.
Hearing his reaction to the vertexguy was awesome!
REALLY awesome interview.
I LOVE most of Konami NES games soundtracks, while always believing as a musician that they were all made by the same little group of people (at least for most of them), and though I still don't have a precise list of what games he worked on, I can finally put a name on this Konami Sound, and claim that Hidenori Maezawa is my favorite game music composer along side Yuzo Koshiro.
I can bet he made the musics for Mission Impossible (the NES game) for exemple.
also, the compiraison with/without the VRC6 is amazing there : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v9339JUK3U
Yuzo Koshiro? Is he the composer of Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage 2? If, so, yeah, he's awesome.

Yeah, I only watched the video part of the interview, but you're right, watching him listen to that was so cool. It was my first time hearing it, too, so I got to enjoy it alongside him, in a sense, which added to its greatness. :D

Yes, also Revenge Of Shinobi for exemple.
