Is there a good one that's better than Babelfish? I have a hard time decently translating stuff with it...I tried translating Takeshi no Chosenjou from Japanese (spelled in Japanese of course) to English, and it came up with something about fungus..
Google Translate.
Yeah Google Translate is awesome because it accepts user suggestions, basically people can make it better :).
Ok, I have that on my iGoogle homepage..can I put it on my toolbar in anyway?
Take (たけ) can mean fungus, but it can also mean other things. When the word is spelled in hiragana instead of kanji, the translator has to guess which meaning you want via context. Computers suck at context -- hence the sucky translation.
It's not just that, I've translated things from Spanish to English and had several errors that even I could figure out

From Spanish to French to English
The cucarachas enter, but cannot leave.
Pretty close.. ::)
Once they get in, they can't get out... ;)
I hate cucarachas. Ew... :-\
Automatic translation is only good for short, grammatically easy AND correct sentences.
And that's all I need it for ;) Plus I don't have the money for my very own Manuel translation
Hah! ;D
I don't offer as many language pairs as google unfortunately. :D
You mean you can't translate from Arabic to Vietnamese? :P
Not very accurately. ;)
I just used Yahoo's translator for an auction page and it says, when I bid, I should "be modest excessively." :D
