Okay, so I got a Stack-Up cart today, and it had a converter inside...now here's my problem..
I've heard various things about how to actually use these things in a NES..I've heard from some people that I need to modify it..and others say that I simply need to cut off the tabs..and others say I don't need to do anything but replace the original board with a Famicom game of my choice...so I would like one sure answer...
I already told you how do this. It's a sure answer I've been doing it for months. I'll take a pic.
THANK YOU

And you say you can just yank off the tabs with pliers?
They broke off very easily with a set of lock pliers. If you're worried just flip it around.
I tried that but for some reason, the connector and the pins won't line up straight..
It's the same on both sides. The black box accepts 60 pin on both sides.
I think there's something wrong with mine then..I don't wanna put to much force on it..but no matter how I try putting it in on that side, it seems the box is just a little bit too small...which concerns me, does anyone know? Or are they usually like this...?
I think you're being a bit too timid, you have to really force it in there.
Okay, I got the converter in the other side, but no matter how hard I push, I can't get the Famicom game to go into the other side of the converter

And yes, I realize that I put the game in the wrong way, but I tried the other way too and it just does the same thing
It's tricky but you can do it. You have to slide the whole thing in at once, if you do one side at a time it won't fit. Remember that this converter wasn't meant for this so you have to sort coax it in.
Try filing down the sides of the converter, that's what I did with mine.
I sanded the sides of the black box so games would fit better. Then I cut up a NES game and used it as a casing. I can post a pic of the finished project.
EDIT: Here it is. I scanned it a while ago. (You can see part of Moai Kun's box...)
I can take more pics and give you tips on how to make it if need be.

Just wondering... Is there a special reason why you use a stripped Stack-Up cart.
Why don`t use a cartridge/converter like this ??

Welllllll.........
Pirated converters are kinda hard to find..in the U.S, that is...
Pirated converters are...well..pirated, so they don't have a 100% success rate like the Stack-Up ones do because the Stack-Up ones are made by Nintendo themselves..
Also I'll bet this was cheaper than any pirated converter because I got it in a pawn shop for 50 cents :D
Plus Gyromite and Stack Up are pretty shitty games.
I couldn't play Stack-Up to save my life, and Gyromite is kind of a nice game, about the same fun as Wrecking Crew and it has a cool gimmick...it was one of the first games for the NES, so you can't expect to much ;)
SMB, Donkey Kong, 10 Yard Fight, Duck Hunt, Excite Bike, Ice Climber, Kung Fu, and Wild Gunman beg to differ.

Hey now, Gyromite is a good puzzle game. Stack Up isn't without its merits, but, unlike Gyromite, it's pretty much unplayable without ROB.
Hmm, I really wouldn't have ruined a Stack-Up cartridge because of its rarity, especially since you can open them with a flat-head screwdriver.
Gyromite is fun if you can play with a friend.

If I had a ROB they'd be cool, but otherwise they suck imo.
WELL THERE'S YOUR PROBLEM
:P
Just used a black box converter to play Popeye's English Game. All I had to do was flip it around and jam it into the cart.
I'm using a Retro Duo, so it was easy for it to work. I'm still using my pirate converter for Famicom games, though.
Ok, I got it into the other side, and Hades was right all along...I was just being a wimp :D
It feels like it mangles the pins almost, but I don't see any damage anywhere...
But nonetheless, pulling carts OFF is a PIA, so any ideas on how to make/install a proper ribbon/wire/string/etc

Why don`t use a cartridge/converter like this ??
The Stack-Up converter contains a legitimate Nintendo Lockout chip instead of a Lockout killer circuit like most pirate converters. This means instant bootup!
Well... that's a reason
Get a top loader, problem solved.
Or cut Pin 4 from the CIC inside the console.
Ok..now i know.
but my "pirate" converter are always workiing fine for me, so I stuck up with them....
