Dust off your Genesis folks, an RPG is coming out and it looks really good.

Reminds me of yuanworks, they released Wind and Water for the Dreamcast.
Thank God for homebrew games of this quality!
Totally awesome I'm coming up with the money somehow to preorder this game!
Maybe even I will get that. Looks sweet!

While I agree with both of you (I don't really *dig* RPGs), and
still have yet to even get 20 hours into
Beggar Prince, at this
point... ANY brand spankin' new game for the 16-Bit Mega Drive
outside of the usual puzzle game is a God Send... at least to me.
And that game actually looks pretty cool. I'll be buying it to toy around
with it for probably 8 hours and never even beat it, but shit... I'll support it.
Yes you are right about support. Projects like these take time and by supporting them you are motivating others or the same group of people to create more projects. Overall, it's great for the retro community.
Yeah I don't like RPGs much at all, but I preordered this because the idea of new Genesis games is something I deem worthy.
I used to agree with supporting things like this but I actually think it's better to just code on PC with game maker or something. Just stick to the 16-bit hardware rules. All it costs is time then.
How does a small group of programmers even DO something like this? I mean, manufacturing the cartridges alone isn't easy or cheap!
They probably won't make profit and use most of their free time for it.
Manufacturing the carts shouldn't be the biggest problem. You just need a company that can make plastic parts. I imagine the base cost is quite high, so if you only order like 500 or 1000 copies it's gonna cost a lot per piece.
I like RPGs.

:D
It be a better fate for Shaq Fu than it's worth if that were the case.
Using donor carts would probably be the cheaper method.
The chaps behind this and Beggar Prince are going to be attending the Byte Back retro gaming event in the UK. Heard they will be bringing several copies of their games to sell so I'll be picking up a few. I'll most likely do an entry for the whole event in my blog, its around the 9th March.
