No.
Not really.

While I have not seen any physical manifestation of spirits, I have heard and seen things that would appear to have no immediate logical, scientific explanation.
So, I do believe in paranormal activity, because I have experienced it first hand.
You won't convince me otherwise until you tell me how a dish can take itself off a stack, and throw itself across the room, or how a wrought iron fence around a grave plot can move of its own accord. We ruled out pranks, string, wind, seismic activity so??? /Shrug.

Did you rule out drugs?

I don't believe in ghosts, though I've come across many people who do and who have interesting stories to tell...of apparitions, etc. I'm more inclined to believe in aliens -- and have a very good, truth-telling, non-drugged/drunk 65-year-old friend who has had an experience with extra-terrestrial spacecraft. I trust his perception of the event.

When I was younger(probably 9 or 10), I spent a week at a camp based inside of a church. It was about 2 in the morning and I couldn't sleep, so I was just lying there. From the corner of my eye, I saw someone walking up the stairs about twenty feet from where I was lying down. This person walked up the stairs, stood there staring at me for a few seconds, then started to walk towards me. After a couple of steps, the person that I saw made a sharp turn and walked straight through a wall and disappeared. Am I 100% sure that these events actually took place? No. Am I convinced that they took place. Yes. Seeing is believing, and I sure saw something.

Sort of.  I believe in angels and demons, but not the whole "who you gonna call?" kinds of ghosts.

I don't believe in ghosts or spirits or anything like that. I don't believe humans possess what would be described as a "soul".
I believe when you die, everything that is you is lost.
No ghosts.

I grew up in an old Victorian house in an England town, which has been excorcised to boot.  Many people have seen things there but I wouldn't say it's haunted anymore.

So do I believe in Ghosts?  Absolutely yes.

When I was little I had some vivid nightmares in which the setting was my room and the ghosts apparitions appeared in the open doorway of the hallway. While appearing real and while about 9 or 10 years old, I've never thought of these as real but just a dream. I've also had those strange paralysis dreams where you seem to wake up in your exact sleepy position but you can't move a limb; but I again know it was just a dream and not some momentary paralysis.

When people tell me they "woke up" and saw something, I tend to think it was just a vivid dream. I had a high school teacher tell of a waking dream that involved ghosts; seems common.

I had that paralysis thing for the first time last week, it was cool.   Scary, but cool.  A demon crept up and screamed in my ear but I couldn't turn to see or fight it, it was like a waking nightmare.

I think it's called a night terror when you awake and are paralyzed. I had it happen once and it's pretty scary.

I don't believe in ghosts..and I'm the only one in my grade who doesn't... ::)
And yeah, it's called a night terror, it's happened to me before too...It's pretty much one of those screamers on Youtube...but in real life and 10x scarier :D

Ehhhh... I don't know... Our house is almost 130 years old, and it used to be a doctor's office where my sister's room is. It's pretty cool, we found a ton of interesting old stuff in our attic. There was even a civil war sword(although the previous owners took it with them it seems...). I've seen like a ton moving of things out of the corner of my eye when no one's around, but it might be a "placebo" effect or something. I don't know what to believe.

I would say this is a YES/NO answer for me.

YES I believe in the supernatural and paranormal, as I've had
more than a few "experiences" with unexplained phenomenon
here in the physical plane... but at the same time I do not believe
in ghosts in the sense people often associate them with.

I understand that basically the universe operates in what is
comparable to a circle (disk).  The disk spins at similar points
at one rotation or another eventually.  Thus the past (antiquity?)
present and future are in effect all happening at the same point
and always has been... but for us living in the physical realm, there
are rules so to speak we live under.

For one we cannot as spiritual beings live without a biological
housing, but all of us are leaving (think comets here) energy of
ourselves behind us all the time.  Here in our realm [The physical]
exists within a linear worldline, outside of here though, things are
dimensional (only way I can think to describe it).  Therefore it is indeed
possible for say one of us to come into contact in an exact spot where one
is technically still alive at their point on the circle, but has become PAST
for the rest of us.

Therefore... we could fuse, depending on how extra sensory one might
be, with someone who in our worldline is long dead, but really isn't.
For that matter, all of us here have already died, but we have yet to catch
up in our physical realm to that fact in a linear fashion.  Same could be said
that we're all being born as of a milli second ago too.  We're still playing NES
at age 8 in the 80s, yet here right now.

I think the concept of ghosts overall is then best summed up as paranormal
anomalies bleeding into the physical, and if one might be spiritual religious
(I am), then one would also understand/know that there are evil beings as
well as Benin at work that can also alter perceptions and invigorate at times
the people here living in a linear place.  I guess the way I'd see it as a "Point
of Divergence" of sorts, kind of like an episode of SLIDERS or something where
parallels do exist and are all one and the same.  So when I hear of hauntings I
often feel it's the spiritual energy either left behind of someone no longer here
in a linear worldline, or somehow we come into contact at a physical point
with someone's energy that has yet to be in the linear worldline, but we have
stepped into the same space none the less.

It's high context I know, but that's what I believe.  I'd go further into this, but at
this point, I've probably lost a few of you, assuming anyone read this far down
into my post.  I voted YES but could equally say NO to this.

Hmm...well if you want to learn about ghosts...the one (sort of) good thing Iowa has is the Villisca Axe Murders house.  It's available for tours and sleepovers..quite spooky I might say...but I didn't see anything like in the pictures ::)

Its called sleep paralysis and its pretty common and it has nothing to do with a so called ghost.

And no ghost are just a figment of our imagination.Ghost only exists in the human perspective. All Im saying is if humans do not exist the concept of anything supernatural would never occur, same thing applies to religion.

Back to the night terror thing, my roommate gets them all the time, and he is not paralyzed when he has one. He starts screaming and running around saying NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! and if you try to calm him down he just ignores you and says everything is real. When he actually comes to he is fine.

I had a dream that I was watching myself sleep and then I had that feeling where you are about to hit the ground and them you jump and wake up, but when it happened, I couldn't move and was stuck like that for 5 or 6 seconds, the whole time I was screaming bloody murder, but not even a small wimper came out. After the 5 or 6 seconds my body finally did that jump thing and with it came the trail of one of my screems for help.

I talked to a psychic(haha) about it and was told it was an out of body experiance where your soul travels but doesn't make it back to your body before you wake.

On the topic of psychic ability, I believe it does exist, as even I have said or known things that just strike me as odd. I have a friend who lives a couple provinces over from me. I was talking to her on the phone one day, and to be funny, i told her I was watching her. She asked me to proove it and then asked me what she was wearing. Without even giving it a thought I just blurted out blue cow pants. She was wearing a pair of baby blue pajama bottoms that had little cows printed all over them.

That last thing was a lucky guess :P
I'm not totally sure if I believe in psychic stuff...
The night terrors are pretty much just bad dreams...REALLY bad dreams...
I don't believe in that soul stuff :P  I'm barely religous

What's it called when you wake up and feel like you just got thrown at your bed? That happens a lot. Is that what we are talking about?

Oh, weird thing, not really related. I had this loft bed thing before. Like a bunk bed, except without the bottom part. From IKEA, It was really close to my ceiling. I went to sleep in there, and I woke up upsidedown on my couch in my living room at like 3AM.

It was weird.

That's happened to me before.  I have a loft bed now, and under it, I have a lovesac..I went to bed in my bed..and I woke up in sort of a fetal position on my lovesac.

And I think we're talking about that feeling when you almost asleep, but then you feel like your about to fall or something, then you jump and wake up.  And night terrors.  And psychics.

    * Sleep paralysis
They're related in a few ways, but one of the biggest differences is that sleep paralysis occurs during REM, while night terrors usually occur during NREM

What about lucid dreaming? It's like when you're dreaming, but you're aware that it isn't real and you can control it. it's happened to me a few times, pretty interesting. The confusing part is waking up though, because you go from controlling a dream to controlling you body.

I love doing that.  I think I'm able to hop in and out of awareness of that...I've done it multiple times before.  It is kinda weird waking up though..

Fuck, I've never been able to do that :(

I've been aware of my dreams while they are happening, but it's like a movie, I cannot change anything.

"Did you rule out drugs?"
Lol JC. I was not under the influence of any mind altering substance at the time.
I am acutely aware when I am intoxicated. Part of this comes from the fact that I like to be in control of my body and mind, and part of it comes from my teenage years living in a boring town... I KNOW how my mind and body react when intoxicated... since I spent the ages of 16-19 pretty much rolling on something most of the time. :P  ;D

I thought it was pretty cool, always wanted to know what that was like, what a rollercoaster ;)

That feeling of being thrown at your bed, or falling off a log is to do with a drop in blood sugar levels apparently - I never looked into it but I buy it.

As for controlling dreams, as soon as I realise I'm dreaming I can do that too to an extent.  Not control but kinda take things in a different direction.  I remember playing 'super monster mario kart real life' in my hometown, well aware I was dreaming.  Best game I ever played :D

No ghosts are just a silly concoction to make people feel better about dying.

Sorry to double post but what kind of crazy logic is that?  If humans didn't exist??  But they do!  You can't convincingly theorise on how the universe works without people or religion, it's just wild theory!   There's no actual proof for ghosts but there's more for it than against.  I just think there's plenty in the world that can't be proven and explained with science but that doesn't make it invalid.  There's lots we don't know about the human brain and ESP and how the universe and time is made up and structured, it doesn't make them any less real.

But, to quote you if humans didn't exist I would guess that human ghosts wouldn't exist either of course...

I'm not afraid of dying so I don't believe in ghosts for that reason, I've just heard and seen too many things that all tied together make a pretty good case.
