I personally didn't care for their non imaginative Nintendo 64 moniker, and Wii still has me "seething" since I really believed they were going to call the current system Revolution. In fact *Game Cube* was self defined but "okay", but that was the last system name that worked. What would you guys like to see NCL name their next console?
Personally whenever they do release a new system, I think they should return to the "Famicom" namesake but actually use it this time in every region, including the USA/North America, it should be called the Hyper Famicom IMO. It invokes power, speed, and reconnects us to the "Family Computer" moniker from back in the day. The design in my mind would be something Cyberpunk (like how the NEC SuperGrafx basically was a realized William Gibson described Ono Sendai Cyberspace 7 deck) with the asthetics of the 16-BIT JPN Super Famicom, even going so far as to include the old blue/green/yellow/red button symbol.
I say "Hyper Famicom"

I can't keep up with Nintendo...I know how they got the name "Wii", but I can't imagine why they would want it. It's also the first system not to have "Nintendo" in the title of the system..even though some people call it the "Nintendo Wii" anyway. Nintendo even publicly said it isn't the "Nintendo Wii", it's just the "Wii".
It'll also depend on the shape and tech specs of the system, as noted in the N64 and GCN...

You would be very surprised. In 1899 they said that everything that could be invented was invented, and in the 50s, they said in 50 years, we'd need less than 10 computers worldwide. I'm sure Nintendo will give us a new system.
Regardless of the specs, games or anything else, I would buy Nintendo's next system if it were called "Revolution" based solely on how much I absolutely HATE the name "Wii"

The Gameboys were only a few years apart from each one, so they and the Famicom had exceptions...because they're only a couple years older than each other. I meant Nintendo won't name their new system the Hyper Famicom, because the Famicom is over 20 years old.
It's possible that they'll just keep incrementing the Wii line, like how the GameBoy was upgraded and eventually became the GBA SP, but still played all the old games, and was therefore the same "system". They're doing it with the DS by upgrading it to DSi. The Wii may simply get spec upgrades and added features periodically until Nintendo finally hits a wall with it and has to create a new family (like the GameBoy giving way to the DS).
As long it's more than those WiiHD-only rumors, I'm good.
Nintendo hasn't done that with a home system, though.
I'll bet they call it the Nintendo...

Before SNES came out, my friends and I always called the NES "Nintendo" (It was the only thing that seemed to make any sense to call it at that point) -- when SNES came out it was "Nintendo" and "Super Nintendo" ...nowadays I always refer to NES as "NES" as it is pretty much essential to have anyone know what you are talking about (many people don't even know what an NES is, and that is depressing).
