Title: King of the Hill
Post by: UglyJoe on April 13, 2009, 07:49:21 am
It's weird how everyone likes King of the Hill now that Adult Swim is showing it...

Yeah, I know.  Before, I had heard the name once, maybe twice.  Now, I think it's worth watching.  So does my brother.

I used to watch King Of The Hill on Fox a few years ago, but turns out it's not that funny.

I watch the new episodes on Fox, and I always watched them on FX.  I'm glad AS is showing some of the older episodes though.

King of the Hill isn't LOL funny like Family Guy or Robot Chicken, but it's still pretty good.  Worth watching.

I think AS is only showing the good episodes.  There are definitely lots of boring episodes (eg, pretty much any episode where the story revolves around Peggy and/or Luanne).

Splitting topic, btw...

You'd be right about AS showing the good ones.  I liked the one they showed a couple nights back about that dolphin Hank has to go visit....INSTEAD OF GOLF

I always find it weird that this and Beavis & Butthead were made by the same guy...

Really, now?  I knew the animation style was similar, but the same people?

I have a MAD spoof somewhere that shows what Beavis and Butthead will be like when they grow old.

Yes, Mike Judge created King of the Hill and Beavis & Butt-head... I know he voiced Hank in KOTH, and he voiced almost all the characters in B&B.  He got some of his inspiration for KOTH from Tom Anderson on B&B

I wanted to watch that back when it first aired in Germany, but I never had the chance.
The preview trailers looked reasonably interesting.

I actually like this show more than the Simpsons. I guess it's the quirkiness and subtlety in the humor.

Yeah it doesn't have big LOL humor but it's a good show nonetheless. I saw the one where peggy was teaching this class and these two kids pulled down her pants LMAO! and he started spanking one of the boys I was cracking up that was really funny....

I've been watching the show since it first aired and still enjoy it every week.

King of the Hill is one of my favorite shows! I haven't actually sat down and watched the new episodes when they air for a few years now but I always make sure to catch the reruns on FX whenever they're on.

It's the kind of show that requires you to be at least a little savvy with humor in order to enjoy. That's really great because it keeps the Family Guy fanboys out of the clubhouse. :P

I'm surprised it's lasted as long as it has.  It seems like nobody watches it.  Actually, most people I know tend to actively avoid it.

Also, the finale should end with Chuck Mangione playing the flugelhorn.

Ahh Mike Judge.

I like his stuff, such interesting contrasts. Beavis and Butthead was already mentioned, good stuff but I wish the DVD's had more of the music videos, which was pretty much one of the best parts of that show.

King of the Hill was more or less a show loosely based on one of the characters from Beavis and Butthead.

Then there's Office Space, definitely one of my all time favorite movies. I even managed to get the limited edition swingline Red Stapler. It's a pretty sturdy piece of office equipment if I do say so myself.

And of course, Idiocracy. Good, but a bit preachy.

I don't know - King of the Hill looked like it was running on fumes lately.  Just watch the first episode & then compare it to a recent one.

Same goes with Simpsons - I don't really find it that funny anymore. :-\

The first episode of the finale was pretty bad.  Seemed very much like they were out of ideas.

The second episode was a lot better.  It had a good Dale line, a decent Kahn line, and included a scene with Chuck Mangione (yes!).  Luanne had no lines and was relegated to a background character at most (I never noticed her at all, actually, but she may have been in the background somewhere).  Ending was kinda schmaltzy, but fitting.

ah I gotta check those out. I'm sad it's over, I really liked the show. In another note, the simpsons should have ended years ago....I just don't get that show anymore....

The good thing is you can just stop watching a show when you have enough of it.
But people who still want to see new episodes are thankful that the Simpsons still go on.
Everybody wins.

Seriously.  I hate it when people say they wish this show was off the air, or they're glad that it is.  It's not like you have to watch it. ::)

It's just that it's sad to see what was once such a great show turn into something that, while perhaps not total crap, is nowhere near the quality that it used to be.

Also, while it's financially risky, if the same creators and writers started a new show, they wouldn't be stuck having to use the same tired characters in the same tired locations.  They could start fresh.

Well, as long as Mike Judge is behind the wheel, if they ever do decide to make a new series, it should be good, if not great.  Seeing as his first two did so well.

I thought the finale was just awful. No different then the rest of the show. I agree with Uglyjoe, i think its better to quit when your ahead rather than crash and burn. So many shows ended like that!
