Title: Did Nintendo make globtop boards?
Post by: JC on April 30, 2009, 10:14:52 pm
I just popped open a Chinese pulse line, which I'm sure is an official Nintendo release. The board, which is marked HVC-UC (Urban Champion) -- has two globs, but not your typical globs -- more like small, squishy black square pouches.

EDIT:

Here's what the Urban Champion board looks like. I'm sure it's official Nintendo. I have an Urban Champion and F1 Race with the same type of board released in 1984. I have a Baseball with a PROM board released in 1983.

AFAIK Nintendo did release some gloptop boards (though I don't have sources to quote atm).
BTW those are some nicel epoxy blobs.

/\  Yeah, that definitely looks nicer than the general pirate globtop.

Looks much more professional than those pirate globs.

If these carts weren't so hard to find, I'd love to rip off one of the globs just to see what's inside/underneath. They're so very different from pirate globs.
