I propose we make a thread with a list.
This list shall contain every Famicom/Disk System exclusive that has an English fan translation only. Can't be an official American release, only fan translations. We can add it to the stickied "Lists" thread/
Good idea?
Good idea. The (incomplete) list starts here. The list is in order of game name, translator, and version. If the patch is still in development, the percentage of completion of of today's date is listed rather than the version.

*Cosmo Genesis was released in the US as Star Voyager, however the patch was made because the author did not know this at the time. For sake of completion, it is included in this list.
**Rockman 2 was released in the US as Megaman 2, however the patch was made because the author needed to prove to himself that he could do translations after four previous failures. This game is included in the list of sake of completion.
***Known as Castlevania 3 in the US. The Japanese version was better than the American one, so a patch of that version was released.
I would start by adding the famicom and FDS translations from this site, if anyone didn't know of it. He's the guy that translated Cave Story:

Yes, I think it's a great idea by the way, as I don't know of a comprehensive list and it would be really great to have one, so long as it mentions where to find them. I imagine there are tons on TRHDB but many are incomplete:

I'll start right now. Feel free to contribute. The list will be in the first post, and the staff has my permission to edit the first post to add fan translations.
Cocoron
Sweet Home
Uh... That's all i can think of off the top of my head.
Added.
You seriously forgot, BP?? MOTHER
Electrician
Nazo no Murasame-Jou
Metroid
Metroid can't be on the list, because it was officially released in America at some point, as for the others, I don't know :P
Also, I don't think that Rockman 2 or Cosmo Genesis should be in there, because Rockman 2 was more of a personal project that the translator did to prove himself. If you went to other translation sites, you'd probably find a bunch of those, and Cosmo Genesis is the translator's own error.
Yume Penguin Monogatari.

You seriously for forgot, BP?? MOTHER
MOTHER was officially translated. However, the ROM was released by a fan translation group. Since they didn't actually translate the game, it's not on the list.

They're both translations into English, therefore they're on the list. Also, the FDS version of Metroid is better because of the save feature, so that version was translated.
For Mother, I'll use your own words against you :P It's a translation into English. Someone had to translate it, even if they didn't release it, it was still eventually released by someone else.
Right, but this thread is FAN translations. MOTHER was translated by Nintendo, which is NOT a fan group. The game still could've been officially released stateside in the early 90's by Nintendo, and not by a bunch of hacker guys who liked the Japanese version.

This is really the way to go. It's the most complete list (and I believe you can filter the list based on project status). The site is down right now because their host's VPS software was hacked. The admin there said the site should be back in (in some capacity) today or tomorrow.
But still, I started the list here so I may as well complete it.
For the sake of the site, though. You'll go there. ::)
This site is all about Famicom. This list is about Famicom. Theoretically, there is no reason for thread to be deleted or locked.
I meant you can get all of the games from there and call it a done deal..for now. Instead of waiting for our input, you could go there and almost completely finish the list.
I think the fan translation vs 1st party translation is a good point though, as most 1st party translations are INFERIOR to fan translations.
Localisation by a publisher is not just about translation, it's about adaptation. Many things get changed, depending on how text heavy the games are. It's now gotten to the point where European English translations are different to the North American states versions in some cases, so I think it's absolutely fin to count Rockman 2 and Metroid as fan translations if they are different enough, regardless of whether there is a US version or not.
Personally I like playing Rockman 2 in English rather than Megaman 2, it just feels more 'famicom' to me.
Another good example is the fan translation of Rockman and Forte, it's quite different to the Capcom translation.

Ah, right. Well, OK, but I need to do that on a computer, since I can't copypaste on a Wii. And the list will always be expanding, too.
RHDN is back online (sorta):
Complete FDS Translations:
http://www.romhacking.net/?genre=&platform=7&status=A&languageid=12&perpage=50&page=translations&transsearch=Go&title=&author= (http://www.romhacking.net/?genre=&platform=7&status=A&languageid=12&perpage=50&page=translations&transsearch=Go&title=&author=)
Complete FC Translations:
http://www.romhacking.net/?genre=&platform=1&status=A&languageid=12&perpage=50&page=translations&transsearch=Go&title=&author= (http://www.romhacking.net/?genre=&platform=1&status=A&languageid=12&perpage=50&page=translations&transsearch=Go&title=&author=)
I'll do that next time I'm on a computer.
EDIT: Stuff has been added! Remember, the staff can edit my first post to add things.
There are some other FC games translated to english:
- Captain tsubasa 2: super striker
- Dragon ball: shenron no nazo
- dragon ball z 1
- dragon ball z 2
- dragon ball z 3
- Kunio kun no nekketsu soccer league
- IKE IKE ! nekketsu ice hockey
- bio miracle bokkutte upa (don't know why, this game has almost no text on it)
-final fantasy 2 and 3
I know the other kunio kun translations are in progress
I really wish Castlevania 2 for the FDS was translated to English...
I've heard the English translation is pretty accurate. That is, the dialog in the game didn't make much sense in Japanese, either.

If you are talking about the Famicom DIsk System version of the game, that doesn't appear to have an English translated release.
I meant Simon's Quest for the NES. It's the same game, but translated into English.

Yea but I was hoping there would be an english translated version of the FDS game. The FDS game supports saving which is a huge advantage over having to input a mile long password.
Necrobump :gamer:
Anyone know if there is an English translation patch for either of the Zelda FDS games?
