Title: Any Famitracker users?
Post by: Toneman on July 09, 2009, 09:54:29 am
Who likes to use this program for NES/FC music? Though I'm working on one original piece, I've mostly been doing covers of other game tunes to up my skills.

ALL NSF's FOR WINAMP OR ANY NES EMULATOR OF YOUR CHOICE

Atomic Runner (Stage 1)

Shinobi (Mission 1-2)

Ninja Spirit (Stage 2)

Super Star Force (Dungeon recreated)

Yu Yu Hakusho 2 Super Famicom (ending)

Mystic Defender (Scene 4, rather bad attempt at VRC6, Konami style pitch bending is a bitch to learn...)

I've messed around with MML for making NSFs, but never finished a full song.  It's one of those (many) things I'd like to come back to once I have the time.

ive got the program sitting on my desktop at this very moment. Its a cool program I just dont have any time to dedicate to learning how to use it (even though I hear it's very simple). as an aside, im sure alot of people here would be interested in 8-bit/ 16-bit inspired music's and a website called 8bitcollective dot com is a wonderful place to download free original creations.

Have y'all noticed this really disturbing trend at youtube?

The overuse of GXSCC and people passing it off as NES music.

GXSCC is based on Japanese MSX computers and the SCC module Konami of Japan used to make the music for Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

Do you think people on Youtube are smart enough to know what the MSX is, or even know that there's something other than the NES? :P

Yeah, there's a huge misunderstanding of what is and is not NES music.  2A0 what?

I also hate when the term "chip tunes" is used to describe music made with samples instead of an actual sound chip (or chip emulator).  It's in the style of chip tunes, sure, but it's not a chip tune.

but would there really be a need to further clarify exactly what the music was made with. I mean it just seems a bit absurd to think of people using different names for everything within such a small genre. emuchip, msmusix, nestune, etc. etc. I just feel like you could go on and on with specifics.
