What game do you think has the best music and whats your favorite song? I think that its taking to the air, the stage 1 music from terminator on the sega cd.
Of course... The Zelda theme! I love the hyrule castle theme in LttP too! And the airship from metaknight when everyone is superscared of kirby. And the gusty garden galaxy in SMG... Well, I love most of Nintendo's songs. I love em all :P
Uh.. Touhou is good.
Yeah I got nothing. :P
I've always loved the Space Harrier soundtrack.
I like the Valkyrie Profile soundtrack as well, although it's not really chippy at all.
Well this is a remix, but it's a pretty good example of a Touhou song.

"Tetris" Whatever the song is called, it has a K in it.
Dr Mario song Fever.
I'm partial to a lot of Kirby's Adventure songs. A good friend of mine spearheaded OCRemix's Rise of the Star Kirby's Adventure Remix Project.
Dark World theme from Link To The Past and other favorite from the top of my head is Marble Zone from Sonic.
I second Kirby's Adventure. That was a great soundtrack, especially so considering the technology. Also, Chrono Trigger is absolutely fantastic.
Best Soundtrack - a tie between Ys III: Wanderers from Ys (PC Engine/TG-CD and the Oath in Felghana for PC) and Gitaroo Man (PS2/PSP).
Favorite single song from a game - Bloody Tears from any Castlevania
Yeah Konami is one of the kings of music. Contra.
Wow, hard question. For me it is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g25QXnhVijQ
depends on my mood. Sonic CD has some great music in it but so does LOZ:OOT.
i like the fact that the sonic cd for PC can play all the music from past present and future on a cd player.
So can the Sega CD version.
whenever I get around to not being so lazy, I'm going to post my top 50ish VG tracks on youtube.
[why do all of your posts have a different subject line from everyone else's posts? Makes it more difficult to know what a thread's about, especially when the subject is changed to "No subject."]
[He's changing the Subject: line after he hits reply. It's annoying, but I haven't PM'd him about it since he's technically not breaking any rules.]
@nintendodork
no the sega cd version only play present and future tracks that were encoded in redbook audio. the sega
cd past tracks were encoded differently so they do not appear on the sega cd version only the PC.
Right now I'm digging (heh, pun) the Mole Mania music. I've been humming it all day.
I don't think it gets any better than Street Fighter 2, especially Ken's stage.
I would say everything from Donkey Kong Country 2. Bramble Blast, Hot Head Hop, Kremlin Mines, oh man. Dive Wise as his best.
Castlevania series (esp. Symphony of the Night)
SNES Sim City
Donkey Kong Country Series (esp. 2)
Zelda series (esp. Majora's Mask)
That's all that comes to mind at the moment.
The Ace Attorney games have a GREAT soundtrack. I also found Famicom Tantei Club 2 on SNES had great music. Resident Evil 5's the Mercenairies song is also very good and intense. :P
i'll have this pick ;D
- Breath of Fire III (Playstation)
- Ninja Ryukenden 3 (Famicom)
- Rockman 3 (Famicom)
- Rockman X4 (Playstation)
- Sonic 3 (Megadrive)
- Final Fantasy VI (Super Famicom)
there are 3 of 3's of the following :o
Most tracks from Rockman 2.
I especially like Wily Stages 1/2 and 3/4's themes.
I do have to say, I've left alot of PC Engine games on sitting for a half hour listening to them over and over, same goes for Rockman and Forte boss battle (Super Famicom version)
Oh yeah, PC Engine has great music. My favorite version of The Power of Anger(ya know, Salamander stage 1?) is the PCE one.
Here are some of my favorites...
Chorno Trigger, Super Adventure Island, Final Fantasy 1-7, Grandia 1-2, and most Mega Man games before the power battle crap started...
I love music from "A Link to the Past", "Secret of Mana" and "Wind Waker".
Don't deny that Contra 4 has some totally BA songs.
Dont forget one of the best soundtracks ever... DR MARIO CHILL!
DOOOOOOOOOOM for the snes has the best sound for a system besides the computers version
Yeah, I second Dr. Mario Chill.
Another good one is actually a combination of music and in-game sound effects. In the game "Banana" the sound the character makes when he walks just goes perfectly with the game music.

I love Banana! Great game. Also for the famicom, Choujin Sentai Jetman has a great soundtrack. And Mighty morphin power rangers for the Super Nintendo.
I really enjoy AirZonk's music on the TurboGrafx-16. You can check it out in Black Tiger's video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9QLM2o200w
I love the mellow music from Animal Crossing, gamecube version mostly.
quickman from megaman 2
Pro Pinball: TimeShock!'s music
I totally second msdos4 there. I love Animal Crossing! :)
Snes music overload! (Too many Snes games to list!)
Game Boy Music overload!
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Game Boy Gallery Musics (Soundtrack CD with arranged versions)
Animal Crossing
I love Shinobi and Kunoichi (Nightshade) from PS2. They are also very 8 bit in their approach to gameplay and I love that still.
Hard games sure, but you get the same sense of achievement finishing them that you do from Rockman 2 etc and the music is just as good if not better.
You'll certainly have it burned to memory by the time you finish them!
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=BD2D6432FE8202EB&search_query=shinobi+soundtrack+ps2
.
Also, Bignose the caveman has some nice tunes.
I think all (or at least most) Camerica games have cool music.
On the topic of shinobi, shinobi 3 for genesis has a badass soundtrack.
yeah I especially liked the surfing level, there's an ace OCREMIX of it
Journey to Silius had one of the best music soundtracks of all time! One of the best soundtracks of all time![/kanyewest]
I agree! and Off Topic I know, but we have to keep the kanye thing going!
I guess Pokemon has good music too ;)
I want the Intellivision in Hi-Fi soundtrack since it has the Snafu City remix. I hate Kanye West's music (hip-hop).
I'm not a big fan of hip hop either, nor country. :P

probably the 3 best game songs evah!!!!
Big nose freaks out has no music! Well at least on the first and second level. I haven't played past there.
Oh dear oh dear... so many wrong answers in this topic. But a few of you got some correct. :P
Let's throw Yoshi's Island onto the pile.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, WRONG!
Go back to your hole & never reproduce, you're lower than wale snot at the bottom of the ocean, your mom's a whore.[/rant]
JK :P, but seriously, I hate seeing "wrong" in any kind of conversation - especially strict-opinionated ones. And what's so awesome about Yoshi's Island?

Oh exactly, that's why I did it because there's no possible reason how any of this could be wrong. Well, except for Nintendodork...
:)
I nominate Yoshi's Island because I enjoy the somewhat offbeat feel to it. Plus the music never really gets old. It isn't in your face like in some games and most of the time you forget it's even there. And also because it is the correct answer.
D: You don't like Camerica music?
Yeah, that's very uncamerican of you.
My intake of freedom and liberty is enough to offset that.
**EDIT**
Kirby's Dream Course for the Super Nintendo had some interesting tunes in it.
No, I love Camerica music, Bignose Freaks Out has no music though.
I think. I only played the first level, if you're talking to me. I love the other games though. :)
No, I would've quoted you if I were talking to you. My comment was aimed towards PatMan33
Huh, I didn't realize he said anything about Camerica.
Ugh....no offense but Camerica arpeggios make my ears bleed....
Hey, we all have different tastes.
This is very up-beat.

The Paper Mario series (or at least the first two) are very underrated, especially when it comes to their music. Thousand Year Door more or less nailed it with a wide range of quirky and fun tunes but the boss battles are where the soundtrack really comes alive. Take, for instance, Macho Grubba's theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFKrhiKrbHo) and Bowser's theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_xMF3nbqDs).
Props to Magnus von Grapple (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlatYTce6G4), as well.
I really like the music played in the game "Shadowgate", it has wonderful tunes playing all the way through.
I do agree with the Shadowgate music gremlin you got me into it!
The BIT.TRIP series of games on WiiWare tend to have pretty great music. It's all chiptunes and it's all fun! The games themselves are awesome (but hard) too.
The most recent game just came out today, too! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7f7OZpuffM)
I really need to check those out. They seem fun. I also like the Mushihimesama (not Futari. The original) final boss music. You guys should look it up. I'll post a link when I get home.

A lot of old games produced in Europe seem to have those arpeggios too. I think they did it in an attempt to have chords, but it just doesn't work IMO.
Anyway, I've got a lot of favorite game soundtracks, but my favs right now are Darius, Gaiares, Valis III (the Genesis version), The Ninja Warriors, and Midnight Resistance (the Genesis version).
Keith Apicary - Neo Geo
And there's a new one coming out in sometime, I can't wait to listen and download it. ;D
The entire Blast Corps soundtrack.
I think this is in need of a bump.
I definately love nitro man's theme in Mega Man 10.

The opening of the original is very nostalgic for me.
Another underrated one is Stage 1 theme in Android Assault on the sega CD. Love the guitar part the most.
must i say to end this discusion: anything koji kondo, 'nuff said
