Title: Best Label, Box, or Manual Art?
Post by: JC on November 09, 2006, 07:20:45 pm
I've been slowly collecting pics of carts and boxes for FW. And while doing so I've come across some really neat art. I was curious what everyone would consider the best label, box or manual art. Here are my two nominations:

No doubt about it, the RPGs usually take it. This Final Fantasy III box front is probably the most beautiful of all that I've seen. Yes, beautiful. The Final Fantasies had a unique illustration style, even on their posters, which I've linked to before. Final Fantasy III:

And I can't get over how damn cute this dude is. Got to love his fluttering cape and the fact that he's eyeing the tip of the sword as if he were aiming a shotgun. SD Knight Gundam Story:

Be-Bop High School. The two guys in the cover look like guys out of Yu-Yu-Hakusho.

I like simple stuff....the first "Mother" game box art is really nice.

Hmmm....the Final Fantasies are really cool, but i have to agree that Mother's box art is, in it's simplicity, just great.

So, Mother.  :D

Yes, there are a lot of Anime boxes for FC games, but there do seem to be more weird/fun labels/boxes too.  You'd never see a label like bokosuka wars in the US...

Well, there are lots of beautiful/funny/weird Famicom box arts!
It is very hard to choose one or two or even 10!
I would mention Harikiri Stadium '88!
Try to find that!

I remember seeing one for Raf World, but it was too small. Anybody have good pics of that?

I've seen Raf World before. It is cool one. I'll have to track it down; Stadium '88, too. I'm also looking for Be-Bop...I've only found cart pics of that one.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Sweet Home -- pretty sweet. ;D

That has to have the most intense box art I've ever seen.

Heavy Barrel
Gun Dec
Layla

Why the US has to change it to uninspiring generic art is way beyond me

But I think the box to Street Fighter 2010 is the best one by far.  You need to see that to believe it.
