Been thinking about adding a Super Famicom to my collection, but are those japanesse exclusives worth buying the system for if I don't like rpgs?
I mostly go for wrestling games, Mario like platformers and Comic book games, anything exclusive for the super fami that is really good?
Yes. The sfam has a bunch of great sailor moon games. Theyre awesome !
rockman and forte is nice.
You don't need to buy a Super Famicom since you can mod your snes to play super famicom games. It'll save you some money. There are some kewl games for it you know so I suggest collecting them.
I agree with FamicomFreak, however, it's physically very different from the SNES, and would make a great addition to your collection.

Unless you have a PAL SNES :P
If your a big SNES fan, then I'd do it. I myself love the SNES, but I probably will never have a SF. My super nintendo is good enough for me.

Ha, I laughed when I first saw the ugly USA SNES, we got the nice design in England.

What I'd love to do is get a PAL SNES, convert it to NTSC, clip the tabs, and have a cool-looking, universal SNES!

U should just get a usa snes and drill out the tabs like i did, my sutte hakkun game works fine on there. and so does fifa 1997 and so do all my usa games, yes like nintendodork said i have a universal or region free snes.
Any sites where I could be taught to do this?
and is it safe?
Also how hard is it to get Japan Snes Games?
Harder,Easier or the same?
Easy as pie. Just use Ebay.

For modifying the SNES, all you have to do is push down the flap where you put the carts in. See those two little tabs towards the back? Cut those out with a pair of pliers, and you're good to go!

If you do the simple mod to your Snes it will play every Super Famicom game
and getting Super Fami games is pretty easy,I stick to forums when Im buying games, alot better deals than ebay by far.
I've seen someone take the guts of an SNES and put it in a Super Famicom case (I'm pretty sure the Super Famicom was broken).
Personally, I cut the tabs away. I had the bits to open up the SNES so I gave it a deep cleaning then used a small wire cutter and pliers to get the tabs out. If you don't want to open up or cut pieces out of your SNES, you can get a Game Genie and cut the tabs off of that. The only problem with the Game Genie method is that it doesn't support SNES expansion chips.
I love the "M&M" buttons on the SFC controllers but hate the 1m cord length. I've seen someone remedy this by simply swapping a US SNES controller's insides with a SFC's insides. It's interesting actually, if you open up a SFC or a SNES controller, you'll see that the face buttons are marked in both the US and Japanese/PAL colors. A shame PAL SNES controllers don't work in NTSC systems (if memory serves).
I have 2 PAL Snes controllers and they work fine on my two ntsc Snes's.
I think your referring to this.

Of course a Super Famicom is worth buying. It looks great and has over 1400 games to choose from.
There are a lot of wrestling games that probably aren't available in the US.
If you do remove the plastic tabs in your NTSC SNES, don't expect to ever play a Super Gameboy. My little brother bought one and it wiggles a lot when you put it in, and is very finicky. It relies on those tabs for support and it doesn't do much if the tabs aren't there.

A friend of mine has a SFC and a Super Gameboy 2. He says that even that is extremely finnicky and even the slightest nudge can freeze the game. I would try sticking a coaster CD in between the cart and the system to solidify the contact and prevent the cart from moving. That was how I solved a problem with a top loader once.
We used that trick back in the day... sticking a folded piece of paper between the cart and the slot to prevent the cart from moving around and crashing our game. We later learned that our games had dirty contacts and once we cleaned them up, no more paper needed.
I don't have a Super Gameboy, but the paper trick should solve the glitching issues.
I'm pretty dead set on getting one but I'm curious about the Yu Yu Hakusho games. How are they and which ones would you recomend to get?
Rob64, you should get yuyu hakusho 2. Its an awesome fighting game, i think its by namco.
