Just wondering if a Reviews section could be added?
I have a lot of great reviews I like to share & write.
There kind of already is. Plus, I'm sure more will be added once the site redesign is done.
where?
Nevermind, I see but, these are my reviews thus far.
Top Gear 3000(SNES)
Cruis'n USA(N64)
San Francisco Rush(N64)
SOS(SNES)
Top Gear rally(N64).
We only review Famicom games and related hardware on the site.
Yeah. lol, that's the issue I noted.
uhh, I tend to review SNES & N64 games because It's hard to make a long review out of Nes games. That's not to say I won't review nes games though.
is there anywhere I could add some of my reviews in the future?
Our stock answer for the past year (or two?) has been "wait for the site relaunch". We haven't added new content to the site since we started working on it. We will accept user-submitted reviews once the new site is up, but they have to be of Famicom (not NES) games and they have to follow the format of the rest of our reviews:
http://www.famicomworld.com/Reviews/Reviews.htm (http://www.famicomworld.com/Reviews/Reviews.htm)
I may sound dumb here but by "Famicon" you mean anything Nintendo related, Correct?
Nah. I'm referring specifically to Nintendo's Japanese 8-bit console:

ahh, yikes, I was afraid of that. Aren't you from the US uglyjoe, why have a site for the japanese nes??
Well, it's not my site, but Doc and JC started it because there weren't any English sites about the Famicom. Most of us here do play the NES as well, but we've got a fascination with the console's origins.

Why would you register here if you don't like the Japanese console?
I haven't played the japenese one, I'm 15, I'm a retro gamer since I play Colecovision, nes, snes, N64 & Dreamcast.
Edit: I am sort of interested in the Japanese one though.
Man I feel old when I see "retro" and "SNES, N64, Dreamcast" in the same sentence :-[.
Seriously, the Dreamcast just it's 10th birthday, far from retro if you ask me.
*Sigh*, Don't have a nes anymore. List of Favourite consoles:
1. SNES
2. Nes
3. N64
4. Genesis
5. Colecovision
I said I play them more than my new ones, I play SNES & colecovision more than anything else, SNES is almost 20 and colecovision is almost 30, I'm 15, I consider 32 bit & down retro.
Just because something is older than you doesn't make it retro. I don't think systems like the PS or the Dreamcast will be considered retro for a long time.
once again, It may have looked like I implied Dreamcast & N64 were retro but I didn't.
I grew up on NES & COLECOVISION for the first 6 years of my life, then N64 and back for the next 7 years of my life, I really don't get why SNES isn't retro all of a sudden, Everyone I know considers it retro... I really don't know what else to say, I grew up on these consoles and still use them over the new ones big time, I know my history... I don't know what else to say...
Ok I will be doing a review, of Pao Ching Tien. I will send it to JC when i'm done. Hopefully I can type it up next week!
Hello,
I was wondering if you would like me to do more reviews of some games.
I can do the following games since I own them:
Super Mario 1, 2, and 3
Zelda 1 and 2
Mario Bros
Balloon Fight
Popeye
and Thunderbirds.
Just let me know if you would like me to do a review of any of these and which one you need. I have the free time on my hands to sit down and do this review on a nice schedule of 2, maybe 3 a month.
You should do Thunderbird because its more obscure than the others.
I'd like to write a review sometime too. I just don't know what game or if it'd be any good. I really like writing though, so maybe I should give it a shot.
Thunderbirds it is. I would still like to do the other ones I listed, especially the zelda games.
And Nintendodork, you should definitely do it. If I can write a review that was good enough to be posted, I think anyone can.
Bump
Hey guys. I've really been behind getting ready to transfer colleges while still being heavily involved in college. That being said with the way my schedule is now with work, I hope to finish it before Father's Day in June. I do have the Thunderbird cart and I could supply screenshots the "cheap" way by using my dsi xl camera.
I can do even more reviews in the summer. One idea I have is, would it be possible to host multiple reviews for a single game? One reviewer may not be able to tell the whole story about a game, so more reviews may be needed to contribute to the big picture.
Just an idea because I have guys that want to help me with the zelda reviews and give their expert-like input.
JC has said the reviews are "living documents", but I'm not entirely sure what he means by that (ie, correcting facts is obvious, but correcting opinion?).
I'm not necessarily against multiple reviews, but I'm not sure how it would fit into our site, layout-wise. And I can assure you our backend, as it is now, has absolutely no support for it.
I'm not sure what that means either. But if it can't work, it can't work. In terms of lay out, probably what could be done is you click on a game, and it has the facts (release date, publisher, etc) and links for separate reviews by each reviewer.
Not correcting opinion but a review might read: "Some people think it's cool Bart wears shorts. Others think he should wear pants."
Just wondering.. I couldn't find the reviews, am I blind / looking in the wrong place, or are they gone now?
The reviews are part of the games database. We don't have them gathered into a central area anymore (not at the moment, anyway). Here's some links, though:

Thanks! Can we still submit new ones too?
Absolutely! They have to follow the same format as the existing ones, though. You can send reviews to me at uglyjoe@famicomworld.com (and send me a PM, too, since I forget to check that account from time to time).
Crade's review of Boogerman II: The Final Adventure (http://famicomworld.com/game/1627/) is now online! :star:
Interesting - didn't know there was a #2.
Is it significantly different from the first one?
It is quite different, although there are also similarities. I think it was made seperately, but with some parts lifted from the original.
That's exciting! I didn't know there was a second Boogerman! It looks really different.
I agree, Boogerman 2 looks so fun.
The rom for it has been dumped and is on CaH4e3's site.
Out of my inbox and into the webs! Check out Rob64's new review of Thunderbirds (http://famicomworld.com/game/1131/) :star:
We're always ready for new reviews, so if you want to write one and get it on the website, just send me a PM or an email (uglyjoe@famicomworld.com).
From the fingers of crade comes a new review for the excellent FDS title Otocky. Check it out!

I notice you have no review for the game "Harry's Legend", this is actually one of my favorite pirates and I would love to review it if you will allow me to do so. Its absolute bad controls and collision detection are the charm to make it playable over and over, seriously...
Go for it! :mario:
Just follow our review format and send me the review (email (uglyjoe@famicomworld.com) or PM). Screenshots are welcome as well, as it saves me a bit of work having to get them myself. If you have a cart shot or any box/manual scans, we take those too (although I guess that's much harder to get for pirates).
The review is completed and pm'd to you, I hope I was descriptive enough. :)
Got it. I've gotta hunt down some screenshots and stuff, so it'll be a few days before I get back to you. Thanks ;D
Did you receive the screenshots that I messaged you? Also did you like my review?

Got the screenshots. Review is maybe a bit short, but it'll do.
I am sorry it's short but it's kind of hard to say a lot about a game that is only 5 levels.
