Unless I'm mistaken I didn't think Dizzy came out in Japan? I know, I can see it's a pirate, I'm just guessing as to why they pirated an English version unless of course there was no Japanese version to speak of.
Actually, I'm 99% sure that BIC carts are official. They ported many Camerica games in Japan.
with no TM on Dizzy title or even the company badge? Are you sure?
I think BIC might be known for ported Camerica games, but they're by no means official releases. I think they're analogous to those black Tengen NES carts. They're (mostly) high quality and everyone knows about them, but they're not official.
Well, now that we're talking about this, they were never official. So, wouldn't they be just..unlicensed in the same sense that the original Camerica carts were, or did Camerica even know about them?
I don't know if this helps you guys out at all, but the game hasn't been modified. The Code Masters and Camerica logos are all there.
I was wondering where my post went...
What I found strange if they were legit, is that the Codies logo was nowhere to be seen on the cart (an often contracted requirement) and that there was no copyright, or no trademark of any kind on there. The artwork itself is also unprofessionally laid up so I actually thought it was a pirate at first by total assumption.
If it's an unlicensed port then that makes much more sense.
I have a bic quatro arcade cart. It says codemasters on the label, and al the games are trademarked. When you turn it on it says pegasus 4in1 so it was intended for the polish market
BIC/Codemasters/Camerica releases were very likely approved/licensed by Codemasters/Camerica for production, but they definitely weren't licensed by Nintendo. They weren't sold in Japan. You can find them in Taiwan and Argentina -- maybe elsewhere.
Oh, I forgot something. The code masters catch phrase is on the back. Interesting!

That must be a common casing. I have a bunch of pirates with that same language on the back.
Yeah lol, especially as they don't have the extra exclamation mark at the start ;) maybe that's a Camerica-ism, of course Spanish use inverted marks at the start of sentences.
I actually thoughtt their catchphrase was 'masters of the game'? even back then?
I know the one above appears on the splash screens though, that's amusing to see it there!
They also couldn't find an apostophe for DON T? win :D
Wait a minute...Is that first "exclamation mark" at the beginning of absolutely brilliant a T? It looks kinda like it.
Nope, it's a !.
I think they have BIC/Codemasters/Camerica releases in Poland, too.
Yup, you can tell by "pegasus"
