I'm new to famicom collecting. Anyone help me out on my first system? It'd be cool to be in box, but loose is fine too. Not sure what the going price is on these, but if you have one, let me know what you want for it. I've gathered that the famicom system will play all regions of famicom and NES games, including pirates, is that correct?
It plays nes games only with a converter.
I just bought two famicom systems with original box and manual. I recently became a famicom collector. One famicom is the original japanese and the other is a famiclone from Taiwan, this one with AV/Video output. This systems only play Japanese 60-pin cartridges. It does not matter if they're pirated or not. Once in a while you can find good deals at Ebay. The Taiwanese Famicom that I bought was a good deal. But this deals are rare to find. Most people at ebay just want to rip you off. So do some research for yourself before
getting a Famicom . Good luck!

That one is a great deal on a Famicom, all you need is a:
Retro AC Universal Adapter and a RF switch or a direct to tv connect.
Less then what I paid for mine.
It even includes that little red expansion cover, I have owned 2 Famicom's and neither had that. They easily get lost by owners, so its luck to see a Famicom with one.

Makes me surprised that my junk famicom had one.
I got my AV Famicom off of eBay, it's essentially going to be hit or miss, you pay a lot, or you gt extremely lucky. Either way, that definitely would be a starting point.
Thanks for the info. Since my first post I found one of the AV Famicom pirates at a Tawian fleamarket. Build is just like the original I believe...plus AV, so I'm happy. :)

I must see pictures... I have heard of such pirates but they are usually cast in black plastic replica AV Famicom shells.

Its heavy enough to be a solid build I think.

Oh, its different then I imagined. I thought it was shelled like the actually AV Famicom.
But still, very cool.
