I'm very lost right now, someone set this straight for me.
I got a ROM of Lolo no Daibouken, which is supposed to be the very first Lolo's Adventure released in America, isn't it? The title reads copyright 1987, 1989. The title says Lolo's Adventure.
But there's no way this is it. For one, the music is not what I remember. I think this is the music that plays in Lolo 2. Right now I'm at a puzzle that seems literally impossible, I swear I've looked at every possible way to get through it and it seems hopeless. So I looked up a FAQ.
This is where it makes no sense. The FAQ for Lolo shows a level at the stage I'm at that does not exist. Wrong game? The password for this level is PYPL. But Lolo 1 uses passwords that start with B, not P. More confusing. The title screen does not state this is Lolo 2, it just says Lolo's Adventure...
So I decide may as well look at the FAQ for Lolo 2, and sure enough it looks like this is the game that uses the password scheme in the game I'm playing. Well, I find the stage with my password, only IT'S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STAGE NOTHING LIKE WHAT I'M AT!!
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? It's like this is named Lolo's Adventure, yet it's actually Lolo 2, yet the stages aren't anything any FAQs claim are in it. Even the castle in the intro of the game appears to be what shows up in Lolo 2. I'm very confused.
You'll probably get an answer beforehand, but I'll look into this when I wake up tomorrow. I have Eggerland for the FDS and Lolo 1,2,3 for NES to look at. I know the numbers for the Famicom games do not match up for the US releases, and there may be some differences (it may have been that "Lolo 1" for the Famicom is the equivalent to "Lolo 2" in the US, but I don't recall off-hand). Can you post a screen-shot?

I assume you meant of the level. If anyone can conceive any possible way to get that heart under that stone head thing in the top right corner let me know :P You'd typically have to block it with something, but there's no room to move anything in there at all. It's literally impossible as far as I see.
Looks like you must get some shots in this level. Would be hard to figure the solution without playing the level myself. It does look like Lolo 2, but that level isn't immediately familiar, and as you state, that password doesn't bring you to that level on the US Lolo 2 (just tried it). 87/89 is also on the US Lolo 2. Perhaps you could send me the ROM you're using and I could figure the solution out (would be interesting if it does have some different levels).
PMd.
I can understand if maybe level order was switched around for the US release, but that still doesn't explain why the title screen and ROM both say Adventures of Lolo when it appears it's actually the 2nd one.
Good luck figuring out the solution. :D
I figured it out:

Kill the dino and put an emerald block in its place and it'll magically teleport up near the medusa.
/\ Was just about to post that :P You have to do that more often in Lolo 3 if I recall correctly.

It may be that there is no JP equivalent for the US Lolo 1, so perhaps the first Lolo game under the Lolo name (not Eggerland) for the Famicom is the US Lolo 2.
Otherwise, I still don't recall ever seeing that level in a US Lolo game, so I think it may very well be a new level as opposed to one that had been swapped around. Makes me want to get the Famicom versions as well now.
EDIT: and thanks for sending the ROM ;) Had I realized what you were referring to as being impossible, the solution would have been obvious, but it's 6am here and for whatever reason (despite being tired) I haven't been able to get to sleep (the temperature drop may have something to do with it).
Lolo 1 in america is a jumble of levels from Japanese games.
Lolo 1 in america is not for sale in japan. So you've got some whack hack version, because Lolo 1 on NES wasn't released on Famicom.

As noted in my previous post, I think Lolo 1 on Famicom "IS" US Lolo 2 since there was no Famicom release of the US Lolo 1. Clearly, from this thread, there may be some differences between the US and Famicom versions, which isn't unusual for many games.
This is weird...if there was no Famicom release of Lolo 1, then why does this cart say Lolo II?

That is the US Lolo 3. There was no Famicom release of US Lolo 1, so US Lolo 2 is Famicom Lolo 1 and US Lolo 3 is Famicom Lolo 2. I actually have yet to play my Eggerland on FDS, but as far as I know, it has nothing to do with US Lolo 1.
