I wouldn't recommend getting a real Atari. I plugged mine in using RF, and out came the blurriest picture EVER. I hated that blur so much, I sold it. Some of the games aren't half bad, but most of them are super super simple.
I know, I don't really plan on getting a 2600, I can just play it at Retrouprising... My colecovision has the same issue, I have to use an NES rf box for it because the other stuff is too complicated, it's hard not to get a fuzzy screen, plus my TV is the only one it works on that I've tried :-\

I don't own a ColecoVision, but I would assume that it doesn't like automatic RF switches. Try using one from an Atari 2600 or something made in the 70s.
I can't get a picture with my Intellivision and it has RF.

No, couldn't get my colecovision to work until this year, the nintendo Rf switch is my only option, besides, it's not usually bad, but it always suffers some the degree of a fuzzy screen... seems to change when I touch the cord and move it around...
Oh god i love controllers.
Only controller I have that is out of the ordinary is an NES Zoomer controller. It's like an airplane steering wheel type thing with buttons on the top of each side. It's very cool with Top Gun and such... turn left and it goes left, turn right and it goes right, pull back and it goes up, push forward it goes down... It has some other controls on the base, but I haven't looked at it since I last moved. Kind of cool with Rad Racer as well.
