...
I did this when I was bored / for an experiment. Thoughts? I'm tempted to do a bunch more.

Decided to pop it in the case on my desk, let's wait for someone to notice :)
Brownie points if you can guess the game on the PCB (I didn't switch it).

Do you order custom shaped stickers or something? I can't figure out how to make those fantastic labels. My printer is pretty low resolution too.
Hm. What was that cart originally? That looks better than 99% of most pirates!

Dynamite Batman, also known as Batman: Return of the Joker?
Because anything but that specific Batman game is blasphemy.
But I guess you could also use the original Batman but it wouldn't be as good with the title.

I actually prefer the original. In fact, I think I sold my Return of the Joker and kept the original. Having owned the original as a kid may have added some nostalgic value as well...

To each his own, I guess.
I honestly prefer RotJ, its better graphics and you have a weapon, instead of like in the original where you just beat the enemies to death with your fists.
Those printed labels are great! Did you print them at home?

?? Maybe you haven't played the original in a while, but there are several weapons in the original batman game. If it were just fists, then it would certainly be far less enjoyable.
It's the original Batman, I prefer it out of the two.
Printed on paper, from a regular laser printer. You'd be surprised how good you can get a print out from a high res enough image.

Indeed. I can vouch on that since I've made my own cartridge labels out of high res scans, but in my case, my home printer sucks. I ended up using professional equipment at my mom's workplace to print them because even pirates manage to put better labels than my POS printer :-\.
That label looks really great.
I know now that I want a laser printer in the future.
I'm fed up with inkjet printers.
I don't know if it's the same in Japan, but here you can find great deals on used laser printers discarded from banks and other large institutions. They have some sort of policy that mandates the replacement of every piece of computing equipment after two years or so - which means that a heap of perfectly good computers and printers ends up selling for bargain prices at used computer retailers, and since laser printers are built like a tank, you can get a great printer for a fraction of the retail price. :)
I have never heard of something like hat, but I'm sure the situation in Japan is similar, with throwing out good equipment.
You'd just have to know which reseller they sell the stuff to.
That label is really good! If only pirate companies could get that good at making labels.
Did you use photo paper, regular paper, or some kind of sticker backed paper? If not sticker backed, what did you use to adhere the label?
it was supposed to be photo paper but it isn't very glossy. I chose to use photo mount spray but it gets messy. The ink is waterproof though so no risk of smudging etc.
Ironically, the matte paper I have looks much better. I'm glad y'all like it. I didn't think anyone would have much of an opinion.
The original label took forever to get off! Must be what happens with 20 year old glue :(
Can you do one for SMB2(J)
I guess so, but my SMB2J already has a half decent label, so I'll probably leave that. I have half a dozen random carts with smb2J on though that need 'something'.
If you're asking me to just mock up a label you can print out, sure - I'm just kinda busy so I don't know how soon, a week perhaps.
awesome! i love it, it looks so official!!
Thanks, I should hope so I worked on the official ones so it's cheating a bit - but I'm doing some more random ones I'll update in this thread. I just got fed up of the awful art on some of my pirate carts, I had to do something and it ended up this.
Good Job L___E___T, my labels are on vinyl based sticker paper, top-notch HP multi-head ink printer or color laser and then covered by glossy laminate.
Will try to take a sample shot :

what does the reflex bit mean? I'm still waiting on some film that I wanted to add. Is there a good place to order vinyl paper from?
I can't tell properly fom the images but the dpi looks a little low, it could just be a very close up shot though.

Yes, that was (and still is) the biggest problem with those labels reprod - to get the hires source.
