It seems like more and more people want Famicom disks rewritten. I was thinking of offering this service if anyone thinks it's worthwhile.
I think it would work something like this:
- You send me the disks you want rewritten (restored with original game or new game of your choice)
- You pay shipping charges both ways
- Send an extra disk or two since some disks are corrupted and cannot be successfully rewritten (all disks sent would be returned to you)
What do you guys think would be reasonable rewrite charges? I was thinking of around $5-6 per game, depending on the number of disks/games you want rewritten. For example, a one-sided disk game would be $5, but a 2-sided disk game would be $6. I could also rewrite with .fds images that are unique/hacks if you provide them to me via email.
I'd be open to trades for this service, too, depending on what you have to offer.
I think it's only fair that any unique or hard to find games that I already have would cost more, though.
What do you guys think?
I think it's a good idea. Very reasonable price too.
Great idea man I have some disks I wouldn't mind having games on
I'd definitely get some. Hope you do it!
I would be interested. I've got already re-written disks that could have something else more up my alley on them. I've got a disk that was once Esper Dream but was then re-written to a stupid billiards game. I've also got a disk that's supposed to have Wardner on it that also can't unfortunately be read.
I think I speak for everyone, "All Night Nippon" reproduction disks!
I'd like to use this service one day to get Clu Clu Land rewritten on my Velloeyball Disk.
I'd love to have my Zelda rewritten. I've had it for almost three years and it's been sitting unloved the entire time. :(
I think I'll do this but limit it at first to restoring official disks with their official games. I think it's a bad idea to flood the market with "All Night Nippon" or similar desirable disks for only $5 each.
Maybe a higher price would make sense for games that are hard to get/in demand to discourage people from buying them to just re-sell at a profit. :-\
What do you guys think?
Right, but with a copy program, they could just copy the game onto an official disk that doesn't have reproduction written on it.

I wont resale, it I promise.
I just want a copy to say I have one.
i won't resell either i will never sell my famicom games
can i also get this

I have 2 of Insectduel's hacks on disk, but not that particular one. If you can find the .fds image, or modify the rom with the isp file, then I can write it. Insectduel's patches are online. I've never looked into patching roms, so I don't know how, but know others on here can do it.
Ok can you make me a copy of All night Nippon Mario bros and can you rewrite two sides of another disk
All you need is Lunar IPS to patch something, I could do it.
Alright, I'll move ahead with this with some exclusions.
-- You provide the disks.
-- I'll restore your non-working disks with the original game on the label.
-- If you have a unique/hack .fds image you want put on a disk, I can most likely do that for you.
-- I'd like you to pay both shipping & return shipping charges.
-- I'll have to exclude making copies of SMB All Night Nippon since I can't justify making numerous copies of it for such a low price. If you really want it, make me an offer and maybe I'll agree.
-- This does NOT include making copies of copy utility programs
If interested, send me a PM with the games list you'd like written.
Can.I pay you only $5.00 this time.
I also have the ability to write FDS disks.
BUMP!
Anyone interested in this? I'm surprised there are no takers yet.

It's a niche market unfortunately. Not too many guys like you and me that appreciate FDS disks
I'm somewhat interested, but I hate going to the post offices around here.
Bump!
Also offering to write copy programs and any other request you may have. PM if there's something you have in mind.
Bump!
Any disk games or copy utilities you want for Christmas? :P
Send a PM.
Eric I would love for you to make me some copies of some games I don't have but sadly I can't get to my disks......it's getting quite annoying when I need to get something but if I do get the will to get things out it'll be a full day job and I'll be tired from picking up boxes down the storage's ladder and back up....just thinking about it makes me want to jump out the window!
If you jump out of a window make sure it's on the ground floor. ;)
Bumping this topic again.
I can rewrite your dead FDS disks and I also have disks I can write games of your choice onto (copy programs, game doctor games, etc.)
PM with what you have in mind and we can work something out.
Dang thats a sweet idea man, making me want a disk add on to the famicom.
^_^
i hope i get one soon :D
For those who want nice FDS reproductions (e.g. 'All Night Nippon SMB', 'Clu Clu Land', Prize Cards, etc.) , I'm starting to offer a handful of FDS Repros, complete with reproduction obi and/or manual (where possible and applicable). Some manuals are simply too time-consuming to reproduce, and these are not $5 disks.
See: Flashback Reproduction Games (http://atariusa.com/flashback/thumbnails.php?album=264)
I will only make a limited quantity of any given game, and only if I have the original. These are disk-to-disk duplications.
I also do FDS re-encoding, but like Eric, it's only for factory disks, and can do drive-specific read calibration as well if anyone desires that service I charge per side, per encoding attempt and offer both quantity discounts and trade-credits for non-working disks. :bomb:
Ericj, this is a great service you've got going here. I don't know why more people aren't taking advantage of it.
any here know where i can get like a working disk system at a reasonable price?

I don't see a price on those reproductions, may I ask how much they are?
Price for the reproduction games varies by title: P.M. if you are interested for a quote.
@punkr13: That depends on if your definition of 'reasonable' is the same as mine. I sell fully-restored systems with a 1-Year warranty, including Sharp Twin systems, but I expect retail pricing on them.
If you want to gamble, you can buy a cheap system and pray that it both works on arrival and keeps working for a while; if you want a guaranteed product, P.M. me for details or search through my older posts. :bomb:
Bumping this again. If you're interested in having any FDS games written onto disks (prototype, official, or unlicensed games), send me a PM and we can work out the details.

Do you have any game doctor format FDS games? If so, I would like them
Yeah, I do. All these: http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=810.msg76927#msg76927
I can't sell all of them, though, since I'd only be selling copies and there are probably 500 disks or more for the games in the list.

Which FDS backup unit do you recommend for game doctor images?
too bad you can't just play them off of an MGD1 with 3.5" drive...
An MGD1 is the only way to dump and write game doctor FDS games as of now. Some single or double-sided disks can be used with FDSLoader (in .fds format) along with a game doctor. Not many, though.
Indeed: If you want to dump disks or write them from files, you need a MDG-1 unit. If you want to do disk-to-disk copies you can do this either wit software or a copy-rig.
@Eric: I still have a parcel for you, but I've spaced sending it to you. I'll try to get it out next week; inside there are eight disks, two belts and the ANN Obi and label sets for you. :bomb:

No worries; I know you've been busy. :)
thats a good idea hahah keep it up!! i want to talk more but im not good in english haha:D
Wanted to bump this again.
Need a disk rewritten, or have a special request? Maybe you'd like a disk dumped? I can write and dump nearly all FDS disks, including hacks, utilities, prototypes, and game doctor games.
I'm happy to rewrite your disks, and I also have some spare disks I can write games onto.
If interested, shoot me a PM.
Will rewriting the disk fix it from being broken? I don't have any broken disks on me, but I'm curious.
Rewriting a disk may fix it, provided there is no physical damage to the disk media. If there is physical damage, it depends where it is on the disk surface--sometimes a smaller game can fit onto the disk if the damaged area is near the edge. Sometimes Side A is okay while Side B isn't, or vice-versa.
I wish I had some extra disks around. If you get a lot of disks in and want to write and sell some send me a PM.
I have spare disks that I can write. Send a PM of what you want and we can work out a price. ;)
5-6$ sounds fair to me.
Definitely a great service at a very awesome price! You have a PM sir! ;D
