So I just ran across this local Craigslist ad:
"i have 16 Atari games for sell. i have (asteroids),(bumper bash),(challange of nexar),(crash dive),(defender),(london blitz),(out of control),(alien),(bank heist),(air raid), (atlantis 1), (atlantis 2),(star wars ewok adventures prototype),(mega mania),(Frogger), and (video life)all of them are in there origanal boxes except for 2 of them .I would like to get $5 a piece for them. if u take all of them u can have them for $80 obo. i need to sell asap. willing to trade for ps3 games "
Being a total moron, I only noticed one of the rare games in the list, got excited, and immediately sent a response. When I went back and actually read the list of games I realized how stupid I was. Quite a few of these are among the rarest and most sought after games for the Atari 2600. But now I'm sort of curious. Would someone with the knowledge of obscure rare games for old systems really be such a crappy typist? Is that just part of the scam? I can't figure this ad out, it's just weird. If he responds I might still meet him, as long as it's in a VERY public place. But the odds of this being genuine have to be something like winning the lottery and being struck by lightning on the same day while giving Bigfoot a piggyback ride in a flying saucer.
I would not send the money. I would try to meet up with him to see the goods first.
I don't get his angle, but it has got to be a scam.
If you go to meet him I would definitely bring a friend or two along.
Just a possibility that he can be dyslexic, he didn't right correctly and if you're going to meet, then in a public place very.
Wouldn't trust to meet with a stranger I knew from nowhere.
Be careful I dealt with craiglist deals in the past and this definitely looks like a scam. Meet in a public place and bring company! It is just too good to be true.
Any updates on this? I'd definitely go through with it in a public place. Gotta take a chance sometimes!
No, never heard back from him. I assume it was just a prank. Oh well, no harm done, and I got to learn about a few rare games I didn't know about before.
Well it was a good experience after all, can't beat learning!
You should've 1-upped him & asked "How much sex is involved?" That would've probably got him off craigslist faster. :P
Ask for his phone number. Call him and talk to him. If he sounds 13 (no offense to the young'ins here on FW) then you'll know he's full of shit;
Likewise, if he sounds like a pedophile you'll know not to proceed;
but theres a chance he's just a normal guy wanting to get rid of his Atari crap. Phone conversations are a must for anyone seriously selling anything like this over such sites.
I used to sell a lot on CL and wouldn't give out my phone number until the particulars of meeting up had been hashed out. B/c there ARE a lot of weirdos on there.
It's a joke, don't even waste your time. he's practically written it in lolspeak. People with dyslexia overcome it before leaving school as a rule.
