The Yobos don't play all games, your friends NES may have lock-out.  Is it a US cartridge?  Look on the back, otherwise I got no clues...

Buying a real NES won't help if the cart's gotten old etc.

Let us know how you get on mate.

My NES games work better on my yobo than they do on my real NES. That being said, I have had a similar problem with one game. I've cleaned it, but it just wont work no matter what.

I meant to look on the cartridge and check it's definitely a USA version not a PAL perhaps, but it sounds like you already did that.  Does the cart rattle or anything?

But he's using them on his Yobo, and my PAL games work perfectly on mine.

it rattles very very little, but even my games that are loose as hell still work on my yobo

Isn't the rattle thing a bit of a myth?  Whenever I've opened a rattling NES cart, all it ended up being was the little plastic pole that lends extra support to the middle of the cart having snapped off somehow.

Why do you think all Pokemon games do that?  None of mine do.

It's just a thought, I wondered if a component had come off the board or something ridiculous like that - something big enough that the cart itself has met its end...

Well don't assume every single one does that just because yours do.  Especially if you got all of yours used.

I can vouch on that, all mine do too - the cart isn't fastened to the point it won't move, but there's nothing loose or old.  My Metal Gear GBC cart does it too.
