Good lord. THAT is is so bizarre...even the ads for it are bizarre.

The backstory is that it's a game based of this famous Japanese comedian, and it's ridiculously hard on purpose. It's ricidulously hard and has ridiculous ways out of situations because they thought it'd be "wacky" like his show he was doing at the time. They made two games in his series, I think they lessened the difficulty on the second one, I'm not sure. That's what I've heard.

That's a strage-strange-strange game. Only in Japan...  ;)

Was the guy in the video hitting on girls in a bar and then got into a fight?  Then you hang glide?  What the hell.

Thats a clip from Game Center CX, a cool series in Japan that profiles old famicom games. Each episode that guy in the blue suit sits down and tries to finish a selected game, sometimes he plays for literally days straight. The guy isn't really a gamer either i think hes like a comedian or something. There were a bunch of episodes on youtube about a year ago until they were all removed due to copyright issues.  :(

It's quite easy to find in Japan.

For example this shop has it CIB for 2350 Yen, cart only 1250 Yen:

This shop has it for 1800 or 480 Yen.

A review of this game from Japan says about the game that Takeshi Kitano, the comedian, "poured in all his ideas, making a complete disaster" of the game. I guess it was popular only because it was so quirky and hard. In addition to the 20,000 hits...you have to "hit the pedestrians out of the blue" -- whatever that means -- sing a song into the controller microphone, and not touch the controller for an hour while the game's still running. The review says Taito received about 400 calls a day after the game's release, with gamers asking questions and some gamers half-crying in frustration. Even Taito employees answering the phones didn't know what the heck to do to win at the game. They would tell callers that the creator of the game died and that's why they couldn't answer any questions.

This sounds almost as ridiculous as the "Desert Bus" game by Penn and Teller for Sega CD.  You had to, in real time, drive a bus across a barren desert for 8 hours to reach your destination.

Yea, it never came out but I have the ISO somewhere.  It was going to be part of a contest where you got points for various things, one of which was this desert bus simulator.  You can't just tape down the button on the controller because the steering is off, you actually have to steer the bus for 8 hours across the desert with no other cars that pass you.

Ah, it didn't come out? Too bad.

If you happen to find that ISO, be sure to post it somewhere or make a torrent out of it. ;D

As a huge Beat Takeshi fan (Battle Royale, Kikujiro and more) I would love to see a translation/walkthrough of this. Takeshi and I are Biffles. (don't worry, I'm making fun of a friend of mine with that statement)

Boy howdy, this forum has a fast registration turnaround.  Hi.

Anyway, I thought I'd just note that there actually IS an English language walkthrough of this game.  And it sounds absolutely fantastically insane.

You actually have to divorce your wife and quit your job for the ending.  It's fantastic.

Is there any way to tell if a copy is an older version that includes the mic support? Artwork or some other difference?

Okay so today I wasted all my day playing Famicom Detective Club Part 2 for SNES on my psp and finished it...all I have to say is, THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC!!! I almost crapped myself at the ending! :o ;D So yeah anyway I still didn't play the first part, since I can't find any english patches for the fds game. Is there some kind of english patch out there for Famicom detective Club part 1 on fds? I'd REALLY like to play this game! :-\
