Today i bought myself a game genie at my local play n trade. What i find odd about it is that it has a black base rather than the standard gold, and a purple label rather than blue. Im guessing that it was late in the nes's life because the latest copyright date is 1992. Anyone know anything about this?
There were two variants of the Game Genie. As far as I know there's no technical differences.
I thought the black one was more common. :-\ I didn't see the gold one until I bought it for myself.
Hmmm, I find this wierd. A quick google images search and I cannot find one picture of a purple label/black plastic game genie. I wonder if if they changed it because of the Nintendo lawsuit, but I don't see why they would...
Personally, I've only ever seen gold Game Genies. I've seen black ones online but never in person.
