I am in the market for an original power adapter for a Twin Famicom AN505. Does anyone have one they'd like to sell, or know where I can buy one? Ebay is flooded with those knockoff ones.
I'd like to see if having an original brick adapter would solve my video interference issue.
It wont help, electricity is the same even from a knockoff adapter.
A newer adapter would probably produce a cleaner signal anyways. But, the one I have for my Twin still works fine, even considering I've dropped it on a hardwood floor multiple times and had to resolder the wires that go to the prongs back on a couple times. :P
My concern is that the one I have, even though it's newer, is not connecting to the system completely. I don't think the end converter is 'snug' to the plug in the back completely. The wavy horizontal lines are adjusted to be more minimized if I reach in the back and sort of turn the plug around the pin. I just wish I had a original power supply to test it to see if I'm correct about it.
I have some, but you should know that they aren't an inexpensive part. What are the ratings on your aftermarket adapter? Are you sure that it isn't the monitor or TV that you are using? If you want to pay postage (both ways), I can test the system for you using known-working parts and possibly evaluate the source of your problems. (This would cost less than buying an original adapter.) Frankly, I'd suspect a bad solder joint or a bad component in the video circuit before the power supply.

I've personally seen this happened before with those 3rd-pary Ac Adapter found on Ebay, supposedly compatible with Sharp twin...I can clearly recall seeing wavy lines going across the screen, almost exactly as a ground loop...The are cheaply made...

The adapter I got is the same one that's going around on Ebay in fact. I do get a lot of interference and the ground loop is most likely what I'm experiencing. To add another symptom, I notice that if I move the plug that's in the back of my system to try to reduce the lines, sometimes the system will reset. This is without actually unplugging it.

Around $50 used... I can order more of them, but the cost plus freight is pretty steep.
I also have NOS aftermarket adapters available that are superior to the eBay junk.

NOS usually means, New Old Stock, but can also mean New Original Stock, or New Obsolete Stock, and probably some others. :D
It refers to items that were manufactured a long time ago but have never been used.
