Hi, does anyone know if the genesis 2 power adapter will work with a genesis 1 console? Sorry if it's been asked a million times, the search feature couldn't help me. :P
No. Not only the plugs are different sized, the polarity is reversed between the two.
Ok, thanks! I think I lost my original and I didn't want to fry my Genesis.
A sega cd (or nes?) Power adapter work too.
I don't have a sega CD but I do have an nes.
I think it's just the polarity, not the current type, that's switched. A NES adapter puts out 9V AC, not DC.
So, it will work?
Forgot nes adapter outoputted ac. In that case shouldn't a famicom ac adapter work?
As long as the polarity is correct. A FC adapter is center negative. I have no idea what a Genesis 1 requires.

Never,
ever use an NES power supply on anything meant to take DC.

The model 1 Genesis uses the same polarity as the Famicom.

A Famicom power supply will work fine on an NES (the NES has a bridge rectifier that converts any incoming current into the kind that the NES requires), but not vice versa.
